The idea came to me today while doing the story with my 10. Character:
I’m sure, that no one really likes the idea of beeing locked out in the last battle against Modremoth, if you die. So I remembered the fight against Dhuum (Guild Wars 1). If you die in this battle, you can rejoin the battle as a ghostly remain of your former self with unique attacks to support your party on a special way.
This is exactly, what makes sense in the last fight against Modremoth. You can rejoin your fighing party as “Nightmarish Remains” with unique skills to support your party and weaken Mordremoth’s defense. While battling, these party members could have very own enemys (they can only attack and get attacked by Nightmarish Remains) to make the fight more difficult.
From the very beginning people have the choise (like in Guild Wars 1 by just get killed as the battles starts), to fight as one of these Nightmarish Remains or just normal. If a players dies agains, while fighting as Nightmarish Remain, other players (only other Nightmarish Remains?) can revive them. If all party members are in this form, the battle is over = restart.
I think, this is a good compromise and I would appreciate changes like that. Anything is better than been locked out for the whole fight. You really feel bad. You cant help you party and Modremoth is still scaled up, because you are still in the mission. Basically it is exactly, what people do not like while doing big open world Events: Dead party members scaling up the event.
