Hey everyone! So I took the time to come up with a suggestion for a racial trait system which would share the same method as the new specialization in HoT. Our racial skills defiantly need some working on and I thought of coming up with some neat traits to have for the different races that would be exclusive to them. Defiantly open to discussion and still working on the list a bit. Currently working on the Engineer tool belt skills! Will post when done. Let me know what you guys think

Human
MINOR
Heros insight: Grants 10% bonus exp and karma to allies you are in a party with. (Does not stack)

ADEPT
•You have a 10% better chance to find rare materials from mining, logging, and harvesting.
•You and allies in your party have a 5% bonus to gold earned for monster kills. (Does not stack)
•You receive 10% less damage when reviving an ally.

MINOR
Flee: When struck below 25% you gain super speed for 3s. (60s cooldown)

MASTER
•Prayer to Dwayna heals nearby allies for a little and grants regeneration for 10s. (Radius: 300)
•Prayer to Kormir will also remove 3 conditions from nearby allies (Radius: 300; Targets: 3)
•Prayer to Lyssa will also steal 1 boon from your target.

MINOR
The Human Spirit: Base vitality increased by 100.

GRANDMASTER
•Avatar of Melandru has increase duration by 10s and grants protection while transformed.
•Hounds of Balthazar gain x2 Might for 25s and deal 10% bonus damage to burning targets.
•Reaper of Grenth grants 10% condition duration while active and attacks have a 33% chance to life steal.

Photosynthesis: Grants health regeneration to you during the day.

ADEPT
•Natural immunity: Incoming poison has its duration reduced 33%.
•Shield of the Pale Tree: Blind, Confusion and Torment are reduced by 33% while below the threshold. Health threshold: 25% Duration decreased: 33%.
•Thorn Shield: Incoming Bleeding has a 33% chance to convert into Retaliation.

MINOR
Bioluminescence: You deal 10% more damage at night.

MASTER
•Seed turret deals 10% bonus damage.
•Grasping Vines has reduced recharge and entangles another nearby foe (300 radius) .
•Healing Seed also heals allies around it for 5% of the heal .

MINOR
Vines from below: Your attacks have a 20% to immobilize a foe for 1s.

GRANDMASTER
•Summon Druid Spirit has reduced recharge and bonus damage 20%.
•Summon Sylvan Hound deals 10% bonus damage.
•Take Root turrets attack more often (every 3s) and have bonus damage 20%.

Smartest Asura in the room: Gain increase magic find by 10%.

ADEPT
•“Knowledge is power!”: Whenever you kill a foe; you gain air of superiority which grants 100 power for 5s. (Does not stack)
•“You’re no match for my brains!”: Whenever you kill a foe; you inflict weakness for 3s to surrounding foes (Radius: 240; Targets: 3) and gain might for 5s. (10s cooldown)
•“Is There Anything I Can’t Do?”: When you kill a foe; you gain Alacrity for 2s (10s cooldown)

MINOR
Asuran Scan: When you hit your foe below the threshold 25%; they become scanned; inflicting 10x of vulnerability for 3s and they become revealed for 3s (60cd)

MASTER
•Pain Inverter deals extra damage for each unique condition and boon on the target foe. Extra damage per condition: 1%. Extra Damage per boon: 1%.
•Radiation Field deals damage per pulse (2s)
•Technobabble now affects 2 more nearby foes to your target.

MINOR
•Damage is reduced by 10% when you have a golem in the world or if you’re within a golem .

GRANDMASTER
•Summon Power Suit has reduce recharge and has bonus damage 20%.
•Summon 7-Series Golem has bonus damage 10%.
•Summon D-Series Golem Shield Bubble also heals nearby allies.

•“I am the strongest!” 25% chance to gain x2 Might for 5s on hit .
•“You move like a Dwarf!” 25% chance to inflict cripple and weakness for 3s on hit .
•“Dodge this!” 25% chance for your next 2 attacks to be unblockable and have a 100% critical chance .

MINOR
•Food duration lasts longer .

MASTER
•Call owl deals 10% bonus damage and inflicts blind for 3s.
•Call Wurm attacks inflict 1s of Chill and deal 10% bonus damage.
•Power of the wild: 25% chance when struck to grant nearby allies Might, Fury, Protection and Swiftness for 5s .

MINOR
“I am Unstoppable!” Incoming stun duration reduced by 10%.

GRANDMASTER
•Become the Bear has reduce recharge and grants protection while transformed. (180 cd)
•Become the Wolf has reduce recharge and grants x2 Might while transformed. (180cd)
•Become the Snow Leopard has reduce recharge and grants fury while transformed. (180cd)
•Become the Raven has reduce recharge and grants Swiftness while transformed. (180cd)

•Sharpened claws: Increase critical chance by 5%.
•Night Vision: During the Night, incoming blind is reduced by 10%.
•Instinct: You have a 25% chance while in combat to reveal a nearby stealth foe for 1s (Radius:300)

MINOR
Blood Rage: When you have 5 or more stacks of bleeding; you gain quickness for 5s. (30s cooldown)

MASTER
•Battle Roar now inflicts daze for 1s to nearby foes (Targets: 3)
•Hidden Pistol deals 10% bonus damage and inflicts 5x vulnerability for 5s.
•Shrapnel Mine deals 10% bonus damage and inflicts poison (3s) and Blind (3s).

MINOR
Berserk: when struck under the threshold 25%, you deal 10% more damage and inflict bleeding (2s), weakness (2s) and vulnerability(2s) with each attack. lasts 10s. (60 sec cooldown)

GRANDMASTER
•Artillery Barrage deals 10% bonus damage and has a 33% chance to inflict burning and bleeding.
•Charzooka deals 20% bonus damage and has increased range by 100.

These actually sound pretty good. The norn might seem a little op, though. I posted something about 50 min before this wanting to see more done with the racial skills, this would definitely do it!

I’ve imagined stuff like this quite a few times myself. Neat ideas, but too late. Honestly, I’ve just started dumping it all in a doc labeled “GW3.”

I’d like to see racial skills evolve in some way, but I don’t think these listed here fit what I had in mind. These are “okay” trait lines, but there would need to be a bit more power/utility involved to make them seem more viable. As it stands, very few racial skills ever get used and simply giving a slight functionality boost to them isn’t enough to make you break away from a current “meta” play style.

Tbh – Anet doesn’t get that concept either it seems. The game is designed in a way that allows zerk players to exist and flourish. Zerk builds are minimal in sustain, but they have their “oh $h~1~t!” buttons. Thus, trying to break the current meta is difficult if the game’s design doesn’t change. Without finding a solution to this problem it’d be an awful shame to see a fair amount of work be put in to the game and have it be entirely for nothing. People may play builds other than Zerker, but it is because they’ve found a build that has synergy with itself and suits their play style. Currently there are few racial skills that have synergy with anything.

The last thing to consider is what happens if you accomplish this? Did you possibly just create a race that is now actually superior to others? Or did you create a system in which most players will now assume that specific classes should be specific races to optimize their use?

Not bashing your idea, but showing you the flaws that may be there so you can iron them out

The only problem is that ANet didn’t want any race to be better than the other. That’s why an Asuran Warrior is exactly as strong as a Norn warrior.
