Mesmer. Pink butterflies. I think we all know the drill.

Wouldn’t it be awesome if we could get alternative look for our skillls?
I do realize i could be game breaking as knowing skill’s animation is key to seeing what’s gonna happen in a sec be it pvp or pve, but still. Maybe we could at least repaint it to another color, or have the display change applicable only to what we see on our own screen.

One way or another not every guy wants to run around spewing pink butterflies left and right, all the while wanting to give the profession itself a spin..

Now back to thread, i said rather clearly i want an option for me to not have to watch pink butterflies should i go memser. A skin, a customizable setting for myself.

Nowhere did i said that the profession should be repainted to another “righteous color” that everyone will be forced to watch wheather they like it or not. Just that i may enjoy the option to see something else, of my own choosing on my own pc, nothing more.

I love the mesmer pink butterflies. Best thing about the class IMO. Only thing I’ve ever wanted to reskin are the engineer packs.

Since what you’re wanting is just a way to change what happens on your own screen, on the face of it that sounds reasonable. One potential drawback though is the impact that could have on screenshots and videos which when shared online become marketing content. You’re asking them to give up a lot of control in a domain that drives revenue.

Even limited to colour it could be problematic.

It’s still quite odd it always comes up mostly with mesmer effects which happen to be on a more feminine side indeed.
But apperently people are kittenless scared and disturbed by the feminine… especially guys.
So it’s a good thing to get more and more confronted to these sort of skill effects and" feminine energy" distributed equally among the genders.
Still I’m always happy about options so why not.
But then I want more options for every profession or options for no one.
I mean I don’t see why mesmers should get special treatment here.
For example I dislike the fact how warriors fight in such a straightforward brutish way, add an alternative that seems more flowy and has more finesse like in martial arts.

They will absolutely not change skill effects colors, legendaries are the most they did. I can see how this would get out of hand in the long run.

Is this really something that bothers people ? I like the fact that classes have unique skill animation and colors.

I’m a guy and if they changed how mesmers look I know my mesmer won’t be my main anymore.
Those animations give the class its personality, mesmers has always been purple and I’d like them to stay that way..

That’s exactly the reason why I’m not making The Bifrost for my Eles.. it makes all attacks in attunments look the same, and I think that takes away the feel of “elements” and instead you’ll be shooting stupid rainbows no matter what’s the attunment.

You do realize this is only true for auto-attacks, right?

at around 1:32, looks like the mesmer with it’s new specialisation keeps it’s butterflies. Not to say that they won’t change it to some clocks instead to fit the specialisation better but at the moment it looks like it’ll stay the same.

The idea to repaint or dye skill effect seems awesome tbh (but I agree about leaving the butterflies out there for mesmer, that makes them mesmer imo), could be matched with your sets of armor or outfits color theme probably

But I don’t know I imagine it would be visually a little bit confusing with so many different color, I mean many more than we used to see, in big world or group content. Maybe?

YES PLS!
You can do this in Path of exile, and it’s really awesome.
Also, we have the ability to see everyone in pvp as a standard human model, this could also apply to show standard skills. So there wouldn’t really be a big problem with it.

and #3 on Air “which is not even a projectile”

I play pvp a lot with staff ele and I use AA a lot, and it bothers me.. so why would I waste my time crafing a legendary that I don’t really like?
