I’m pretty sure a great compromise, given the news today, would be to allow players to purchase notarized scrolls with gold as well. That’s definitely more than fair.

I sure all of you, especially John Smith, would love to see gem sales up and have another amazing gold sink!

What’s the problem anyway with today’s announcement? Is not like you have to do 400 challenges. HoT area challenges are 10 points each and half of the track are runes/sigil/weapon skin anyway. I just treat this as lvling up for the expansion.

I’m a dedicated wvwer and that’s a bad idea imo, it defeats the point of the new pve content and defeats the point of wvw ranks.

I’m more than willing to do pve for hero points as long as it’s the new map, plus you probably won’t need all 400 points for the core functionality of the elite spec, i believe the bulk of the points will go towards skins and the likes so it’s a pretty good deal.

It’s doesn’t defeat anything, it merely provides an option. Options are great and content is still available to play

The people that want to do the challenges or get 200 WvW ranks still can. The people that voluntarily shell out money to be able to play the content with the new skills rather than experience it all with their old specs can do that too.

Leaving WvW out of the equation completely for a second.

How many of those 40 HoT HPs are locked behind xp gated masteries? Maybe we can get 10 of them at first? 20? 30? No way will they give all 40 on easy to get to areas.

So lets say we have to get to five that require high end gliding mastery. They say that requires 16 million XP. That’s the equivalent of levelling to 80 what 800-ish times?

My plan, and I hope there are no new announcements that stymie my plans, is to go ahead and get my Scrapper and Reaper traits first, and maybe some distant time in the future go ahead and fill out the cosmetic stuff. How I’m going to get Revenant off the ground I just really don’t know.

The bulk of the points are going to be needed for actual functionality.

“It’s 400 points total to unlock everything in an elite spec training line – I just can’t remember off hand how many points folks have currently if they have done all the existing ones, but it’s right around 200. The rest you’ll need to earn in jungle to unlock the deeper skills/traits/etc. in the training line.”

Outright stating that there are skills/traits in the 2nd half of the track.

If the bulk are going toward cosmetics, then they’re cosmetics placed early on in the trait line that are blocking access to the important parts.

Not all options are good though. That option is saying, rich people get content faster than non rich people.

Except that party is about to be over… they are removing some of the methods rich players have to obtain the best gear instantly, just look at the new legendary weapons and Armors or the inability to buy guild favor as examples.

Someone asked you earlier how do you level up with gold and you didn’t answer. Gear isn’t hero points or related to traits. So there is no need to add another feature with gold. Anet has also decided to make new legendaries account bound so people won’t be able to buy them off the trading post either. They’re starting to put less high end items obtainable with gold. Another example is legendary armor, you have to do raids.

Some of the people in this thread are the same ones who would say that paying gold for content = pay-to-win and lazy design.

This is really the best option to add in among the other options
