It is kind of unfair that this achievement requires the player to be sylvari to complete. I have yet to try but I think this can be done with a sylvari player with you but still…
If this was a one off achievement I would not mind so much but it is a requirement to fulfill the Heart of Thorns Act 1 meta achievement for the mastery point.
Anyone else feel the same way?

and nope, not a problem for me. i have 3, and my guild mates have some as well, so one of use ran the story, and nearly all of us got it (those who it was the first time through didn’t get it).

I just tried getting this with a guildmate who already had this achivement , didn’t get it.We tried 3 times with different combinations even completed the full mission – nothing works. So on top of everything you have to go with some1 who doesn’t have the achivement completed yet.

I dont think its fair at all, and needs to change. I’ve accepted that i wont really be getting some of the race achievements because i prefer to just make human females XD. But ones that are necessary for mastery points and meta event rewards puts those who never made sylvari characters at a big disadvantage. Surely they can change this

Get it on 1st try sylvari need to be leader of group (sylvari need to start instance). By the way i was playing as charr.

You don’t need to complete the mission to get the achievement. Once the Sylvari is saved from Mordremoth’s influence the achievement is gained. I don’t mind the fact that this achievement requires a Sylvari but the fact that it’s required for the meta achievement track completion is a bit silly.

So we (who is not plaing sylvari) wont be able to get this achiv. i wet to do this story with sylvari dude who had this achiv. So we finished and i didint get achiv (no sylvari solidarity no conservation of Resources(turent survived)) bullkitten

I for one would like to have anet find an alternate way for this achievement. I play mainly solo PvE. and I’ve got 8 toons level 80 made way before HoT was thought of and I don’t think its fair for me to change my style of play to get race specific rewards. if its race specific then make a mini battle or something that race can do to earn achievement. don’t force them to have to hunt for party that is that race and hasn’t completed it. that is unfair and distracting.. this game was created to play the way YOU want to play and denying us this choice by limiting achievement rewards because we are not a certain race or want to be in a party with other players isn’t playing the way you want.

Have an equivalent, mutually exclusive achievement “sylvari sympathizer”

This needs to be addressed, why must Anet have this gated behind creating your own Sylvari, which I do not want to do, and level it to 80, which I DO NOT WANT TO DO.
This is an achievement for the Expansions Storyline… NOT cultural armor that is Race Specific!

even cultural armor can be bought (i believe) at level 1… though why you would, if you have no races that can wear it…

but yes. Even as someone with three sylvari, an achievement like this shouldn’t be gated this way.

I have to admit that one of the things I like about LOTRO, for instance, is that, while they have multiple races, they don’t require you to play them all in order to fully experience the game.

On the flip-side, I just spent all my level up tomes and spent a day grinding lab to complete this achievement.. so if they decide to knee-jerk and change yet more stuff I would like those refunded

Yea, i hit this achievement and pretty much said well i guess I am done wasting time on these i hate the Sylvari look so I don’t have any.

Lol did you just insinuate people may be shallow cause they don’t want to play a certain character style LOL …. too funny you may need to get out more.

You just need to be in party with a sylvari If you really hate sylvari so bad that you are not able to be in party with one for the 10 min. it takes to do this vary importent achivement.. then I think the achivement is not that importent to you, or that you are shallow, yes. sry.

I mean, its not fair that I need to play wvw to get the wvw achivements or play pvp for the pvp achivements either right?..

I don’t mind playing with Sylvari, it’s just that I don’t have a rent-a-Sylvari on hand who doesn’t have the achievement and is willing to run through this tedious crap content again just so I can get an achievement. It is, as always, stupid design.

I realize this is a year old discussion but as a returning player having just purchased the HoT expansion, this is still a problem. Sure, I can find some friendly people that have Sylvari characters to help me out but evidently the achievement requires that the Sylvari character does NOT already have the achievement. Since HoT has been out for quite a while, that is proving very difficult to find. Please ANET, how about a slight modification to how this achievement works to make it easier for new players?
