Sylvari needed for HoT?
I’d be extremely surprised if this turns out to be true.
In nearly every way imaginable race is completely unimportant in this game and that’s a good thing. It would be extremely strange for there to be any advantage to having a specific race for this expansion.
That said I have a small forest of my own Sylvari so I’d be fine it did turn out to be true.
Might be that some NPCs say things to sylvari that they don’t to other races. We see stuff like that in the game already.

Most likely it’s just there’s some small content for sylvari in HoT, or playing one up through the story will give you a deeper perspective on them to help understand some story elements or be more invested in what happens to them. I don’t think they’ll take away sylvari as a creatable playable race (they cooould get that bold, I just don’t think it’s at all likely), and they certainly won’t make it a requirement to access HoT content.
Though maybe some small areas will require a sylvari to open a vine gate or something, who knows?
I want 3 zones exclusive to only Slyvari characters. Anyone without a 80 Sylvari can’t play expansion lands and will have to farm greens by the thousands for another 2years.
Was told that it was mentioned by Collin that it would be a good idea to have a Sylvari for when the expansion comes out.
Is there any truth in this?
Yes he did say this, but that comment suggests some ambient content or some minor/fun/cool (tick as applicable) changes to the race themselves. It wont be something that will lock you out of parts of the expansion. The comment they made about Revenants in another thread shows they do not want to gate players in such ways.

No it can’t be possibly be the latter. Sylvari are already cooler than sin. I’m a freaking tree man with glowing eyes and patterns on my skin at night. What more could they possibly give us?! Laser beam eyes? Rockets shooting out of our butts? Squirrel assassins living in our hair?
Seriously though, cool if true. Sylvari are the main reason I play GW2. Perfectly happy to see them get even cooler.

Heh… i refuse to make a salad… i “ate” enough of that race over the past 2 years at it is…sylvari this and sylvari that…. i got cheated out beeing the hero of tyria by one, fought one for almost a year basically, another one kittened up southsun and then another one blew the zephites to the moon and of course another one went rogue and stole glints egg…. ah yea.. and they are all dragon minions….sooo dont care anymore. If it means i skip out on story in HoT then it shall be that way.
