So I just started building HOPE a few weeks ago and finally managed to get the Precursor done. So now I am doing my stuff to get the gifts to finish this weapon. However, before HOPE I’ve built Sunrise and Eureka so a classic and a HoT legendary.

But there is one difference between Eureka and HOPE. For Eureka all you need to do is grinding tons of shards. HOPE on the other side needs a T4 collection done. Nothing bad about it but in the end the T4 collection takes WAY longer than gathering the shards of the pre-launch legendaries. I would nearly say that HOPE should be renamed to DESPAIR with all the hard-to-complete events that you need to do. There have been enough discussions about this I guess.

However, I am currently confused about the design philosophy of those collections. I mean Nevermore just needs you to go to specific locations while HOPE requires you to finish specific events that sometimes are nearly impossible to complete cuz they require special conditions. I personally would prefer the shard-gathering for the old HoT legendaries as well cuz it was way less annoying cuz right now I am just looking at the collection and just think: Nope. At least I would welcome them as a alternative way to complete the legendary. As stated before I completed two legendaries before and this is by far the most annoying one I’ve ever had to build. Or is there a special way how to handle these collections in a less frustrating way?

Try actually enjoying it? So many players rush these things to get the legendary and I get it – you want the fancy skin. But at the end of the day there’s no need to rush. You’re not getting some advantage over anybody just bragging rights.

So why not enjoy the extra content? Have the objectives as something to do in the game and an incentive to revisit old areas or do parts of the game you normally wouldn’t bother with.

I’m not saying your point of view is wrong – hell I’ve rushed 3 or 4 legendaries myself. But I’ve come to realise that once I’m done with a legendary I start looking to make another one.

I’ve been working on Chuka and Champawat for about 2 weeks now – It will be the 11th legendary I’ve made – and I’m enjoying taking it easy going to old maps, doing old JP’s and content.

Maybe I’ve become more patient but you should try it. Doesn’t hurt to enjoy the ride rather than just the destination.

If he doesn’t enjoying it already, it’s not going to change just because he’d “try”. You can’t force enjoyment. And it’s the idea that you can that lies behind the majority of bad game decisions with the game lately.

Actions, not words.

You can star enjoying something by relaxing about it. Recalibrate expectations and goals and something frustrating can become satisfying.

Of course, the collections could be lacking in availability, but look through it and aim to be aware of where all the events are and then move general playtime to those areas. Just play in the areas without focusing on the collection.

I recently made HOPE and the T4 part of the collection was the worst to do, it got so bad that I actually considered just abandoning it to be honest, and no it wasn’t rushed, this one actually took me several months to make,

It has put me off making any other new Legendary that Anet puts into the game, as its almost like they no longer think about the collections, and they just pick the most annoying random world boss events they can find to make you get the items you need.

Mentality changes when you look at things from different perspectives – if you actually read what I wrote maybe you’d have a leg to stand on with your comment. But yea let’s read the first four words and run with that.

I did the T4 collections for the four legendaries over a weekend about a month ago. It’s not really that bad. Some were a pain because the events had a long cool down and I had to pretty much camp them. All of those collections are still very much doable.

Aside from bugged events, I pretty much enjoy event collection oriented legendaries… these matts/gold sink solely are boring af.
