It’s right during my internship… Either I’ll get my lessons ready before, or I’ll teach bad things to the students! (Maybe I could introduce them to HoT…)

I’ll be taking the weekend off work to play.
Oh wait…
Oh, come on Gaile. Help out the OP. Any ideas of a time?
Would it help if I begged?
I requested the 23rd off work and the following week. I’m more afraid the launch will be delayed and I’ll waste my vacation time

What is this people first time “around the block” with mmorpgs?
You NEVER take sick/vacation days off for launch days…way too much crap goes wrong on launch days. Typically a week after is better, as you’ve already done some progress that first week and can really focus your grindcation.
never skip school for a game
I agree it’s fun being there at the release of something you enjoy but I don’t see myself doing this as I could always play the game later.

Taking off work that friday
Personally, I think you were better off taking the next Monday off. Unless you work nights.

I start getting 2 weeks paid vacation starting in October, this pleases me.
I’ll be taking the weekend off work to play.
Oh wait…
Gaile will there be a Dev meet and greet like we did with the new LA?
It was an awesome fun time running around and exploring!
Put in for 2 weeks of leave starting right after Halloween
Will play while at work. In it to win it.

hehe that weekend is labor weekend for us here in nz so i will have monday off
Well. when the release date was announced I checked our work roster and someone else had already requested the day off…. so I decided to put in for time off on the following 40 hours (a full work week). With my 3 normal days off at the beginning and end of the vacation days that gives me 10 days off until I have to go back into work!
Stay at home mom in about 30 days, and my husband can work at home if he desires to.
We won’t be getting any sleep as it is, so might as well try to dink around in game between power naps..
(or pretend to try. Pretty sure we’ll do what we always do and try to play for a little while starting on that day.)
As the saying goes; “never play on patch day”.
Anyone that takes a day off for the 23rd will likely be kicking themselves by the day’s end. It is far better to take a day off a few days down the line, say for the 25th or so after all of the major bugs have been fixed.
The initial launch for GW2 was, for me, seamless and painless. Servers went live hours before they said they would (and on the three day headstart at that) and I had no noticeable lag, disconnects or issues. If Anet does what they did the first time around, there should be no issues.
I have a job where I work every other weekend (fri-sun) and October 23rd I’m off that weekend.
So I get to play GW2 plus save my personal/sick days

Lol servers opened like 10 min early. But I got in perfect, as did my friends. Played a few hours flawless. Next day the game didn’t work at all and the TP took a month to work. Tons of events and skill points were bugged for a while had to change servers to do certain things.
First few weeks I’ll just be doing personal story, living story 2, SW on my herald. And the new living season.

I’m still hoping to hear an official time that the servers are going to be turned on. Have any times been mentioned yet?

I do recall the TP issues, and that we couldn’t initially get into the sPvP arenas. So maybe it wasn’t 100% smooth, but it wasn’t the unplayable mess I’ve seen in other games. I know it was playable all that weekend. My Headstart screenies folder has pics from Aug 25, 26, and 27. My Launch folder has pics from Aug 28-31. My Sept 2012 folder has them daily as well except for Sept 11; I must not have played that day, or at least not remembered to snap screens.
Servers did open 3 hours early for headstart. Maybe full launch wasn’t quite so early?
