Every Gerent run I’ve tried usually ends with 15 or less per lane before we get a notice that the map is full. People spend too much time trying to get into the main map, which means one map runs it successfully while all the other alt maps fail. Much salt traded between people doing the meta and roamers trying to map or nab hero points. And there’s always a good 20 people at least idle at the entrance or ogre WP. Worse than DS (if there’s enough time at least DS has a tiny chance of being salvaged with enough new tags) , anyone unfortunate enough to dc is screwed because the overflows instantly fail.

A pop cap increase wont solve the issue. You will still have the exact same problem, in fact additional problems as everyone starts to lag and dc even more under the strain. There are various answers to the issues – some are dev driven, some are player driven;

- Improving the mega server tech so that once all the full maps are full, it is easier to fill up the next maps without having lots of half filled ones. I don’t understand the tech enough to pursue this further, but I’d hope it’s a tweak the devs are looking at as an ongoing concern.

- Commanders removing their lfg once full. There were 6 full maps just now I saw and everyone is trying to get into those. If players commanding the taxi shut their lfgs down, players would be more inclined to push their own map and not stand idly by and the cause they issue you describe

- More players take the onus of rallying everyone together, taxiing etc. Sometimes a map is on the way to getting going, but the lack of comms on the map deceives those joiniing the map in thinking it is dead. Full maps get to that point due to players stepping up. There will always be dead maps, but players can help reduce it with more personal organisation in more maps. I suspect this is a confidence issue which is understandable.

- Somehow improving the tech to placehold a dc for maybe 2-3mins. AGain, above my tech knowledge if workable as a solution.

- Nerf or alter the scaling to be more dynamic. I think this will happen long term eventually as new expacs open up.

15 per lane is already 3x more than you actually need, 5x the minimum scale. Maps hold around 80-100 people and that’s not likely to change since everyone in close proximity exponentially increases the resources used. They’re far more likely to simply nerf it so that the minimum scaling is just as easy as zerging it now, which would make zerging it even easier. The problem is, scaling is only meant to keep the content relevant, so you simply bring more to reduce the difficulty. When scaling is actually fair however, the zerg always fails.

Moving forward, large scale events should simply be split from the map, playing out in their own area like an activity. Imagine Dragon’s Stand for example, but you have to queue into it and are automatically placed in one of the lanes (teams).

I would rather just see the meta events be made easier to complete with smaller numbers. Right now its not a big problem, but after we finish LWS3 and get the next expac there will be a lot more lvl 80 maps to spread the population out over and this will be a much bigger problem. Plus, if you needed fewer people to complete the meta even those partially full maps would have a decent shot at finishing the meta successfully

I did the meta lots of times and never had a single DC. If you run a very old pc (mine is 5 years old soon, but is a 2k gamer pc with 16gb ram and a gtx 670), runs all events mostly fluid with more or less okay’ish framerate at max details.

I usually just enter the map and don’t even bother doing it, when meta starts i just stay on the map, and it fills properly with 80% to 90% success rate of meta event. That shows me that the event gets usually done. I don’t see any problem with this.

You can help here. If you join a squad and the map is full, do tell the commander in the squad chat. We normaly immediately remove the lfg entry but if nobody says anything it stays in lfg longer than needed.

The only way you can guess that the map is full if ppl join and leave again without getting to our map. But sometimes I just don’t look for that while organizing the 4 comm teams.

So just put into the squad chat “/d map full”. It’ll help improve the current situation.

Agreed..but some still don’t do it and you end up re-taxiing back in again

Every Gerent run I’ve tried usually ends with 15 or less per lane before we get a notice that the map is full.

Numbers aren’t as important as understanding the mechanics. Some commanders do a good job explaining what needs to happen (especially with the shrooms) and some don’t. Some commanders accept that at least some people in their group aren’t familiar with the details and some assume that because the content is over a year old that everyone should know how to do everything.

Every failed Gherent run I’ve been in has had plenty of people; the ones I’ve been that have succeeded include situations with 5-6 in some lanes.

So much this. I was in a TTS map the other day that failed, and there was a full map doing it.

Coincidentally, every time I’ve been at Gherent with Vayne on the map, the Pact has been successful. (Sample size: 2 — your mileage might vary.)

I actually really like this boss event, it is one of my favs. I do think it will eventually be better scaled, but i think they will wait until they monitor how a new expac affects the population spread.

Maybe until then, the asura should project an image of Vayne in the central chamber and we could monitor the success rate? That would include EU too for fairness.

My success rate of the gharent is about 75%, if I had to guess. That number goes up if I’m actively trying to get it done, though. Most of the times I’ve failed have been times when I just happen to be on a map and I’m doing other stuff and I see if it’s going to go down.

If you were on the map, it would have succeed.
