Teeny Tiny Expansion
I cant believe how much negativity is in this topic.
I for one am looking forward to the variety specialisations look set to bring and am very interested in the new ways the mastery system will allow us to develop our characters post 80.
Then we have the new region which if looking at our other regions could have 3-6 new maps and if they are anywhere near the high quality of the maps the living world updates have been popping out that is huge.
There is definitely a lot to be excited about
yup you know about sheep? They come in herds.
Now I’m positive you’re trolling; just like a troll to ignore well formed rebuttals and reply to shots against your position with something like this to discredit their opposition.
Okay; how about this. Maybe this will be a “teeny tiny” expansion… yeah it might have kitten all for content. Maybe it’ll be a huge expansion… yeah it might have a ton of content.
We don’t know how extensive the major features are, we’re not entirely sure we know all of the features. You’re preaching a misguided opinion from a soapbox of ignorance. I’m not even saying you’ll be wrong… I’m saying you’re counting your chickens before they hatch; and anyone who says this expansion is huge or average is doing the exact same.

Agreed! Way too many people spreading false information and negativity for something that we don’t have much information for at all. It’s a bad image for new players to see.
Sooo, perhaps you can explain to me how Heart of Thorns is “too small” to be an expansion? Everything I’ve seen on what has actually been announced points toward it being average or large for an MMO expansion.
If you point toward “fewer maps”, I remind you that it is fewer, but denser maps. That is, each map has a lot more going on in it than normal. Not all maps are created equal. Silverwastes is a small map, but is much, much better than Snowden Drifts.
late to the party aye? read some more of the thread.
I’ve read the entire thread. Given what we’ve actually been told, it looks to be a pretty big expansion for an MMO, or, at worst, average size. Give me a bullet list as to why it is a “Teeny Tiny Expansion.”
ok now you are jus trolling me, that’s just rude. There is definitely a bullet list in this thread that shows why it is a tiny expansion. There are also great comparisons between this game an other MMO expansions.
Sounds like you think one big kitten region or a map that has “depth” and nothing else would be big enough to be called an average sized expansion. Its a good thing one tiny piece of juicy fruit gum doesn’t mean the universe to everyone.
On its own? Probably not. In addition to another profession, a new form of expansion/advancement on each profession (specializations), a new form of character advancement (Masteries), a new game mode (sure, only one map, but more complex than any PvP map we currently have), a new very complex Borderlands map for WvW? And of course, the story advancement we also know is coming? Yes. I would say that is very much an expansion pack.
Notice I hadn’t mentioned guild halls and upcoming changes to guild advancement (granted, we know nothing about these changes, but that there are some coming)? Yes, I think guild halls probably could have been included in the base game, but new guild advancement is a legit feature for an expansion pack.
And we’re getting rid of the godawful trait unlock system we currently have. Not really a feature necessitating an expansion, but one to note anyway.
