all other issues I have with the pre-purchase aside, I think we can all agree that the work being done by the devs at this point is pretty kitten ed awesome.
Whiners? thats incredibly rude and childish to just call a large group of people whiners because you disagree with them.
No offense, but your $50 is all the thanks they need, since it keeps them employed at a comfy job doing stuff they love doing for a living. Its fine to give it, but don’t act like criticism is going to invalidate the people who “work hard” to make the game. Thats what their pay checks and fans playing the game, are for.
It is good that they’re trying hard to make a good product though.

Remember folks… The developers and most of ANet isn’t at fault for this fiasco that created a mob of rage. It’s the one or few individuals who made the poor decisions and created this mess. I asked them to come out and admit it, but nobody did. We had pies waiting, but nobody to toss them at…
Yea no kidding Arena net, you guys made a great game and I appreciate all you’ve given me to do over the past years. I think $50 is too much so I won’t be buying until I’m shown something worth the 50 but I can’t emphasize enough how greatful I am that a gaming developer loves what they do as much as I love playing it.

For the work you have put into the HoT expansion! I am anxious to see where our story winds up with Caithe having “taken” Glint’s Egg. I look forward to the beta’s and hope to explore more of Verdant Brinks and possibly other maps. I have a suspicion about Rytlock’s path on his journey to retrieve Sohothin, and am curious if I am 1) right and or 2) we will be taken on that journey also?Thank You!
For Guild Halls! I have been eagerly awaiting news of Guild Halls and thus far I am very pleased with what I have seen and read about them. I cannot wait to start building our new structures with our unlocked guildThe ability to decorate Guild Halls and the way it appears to be implemented is sweet! I can’t wait to craft more decorations and explore designs of our Guild Hall.

For the Mastery System and seeing the players side of things and allowing us to craft precursors for both existing and new legendary weapons. Even though it is only 1 it is better than none. I can’t wait to level up in the system and earn my glider, jumping powers, and Itzel features.

For Specializations. I think the new design for traits is awesome and I really enjoy we do not have to buy them or scour the world to gather them. It, to me, seemed only natural that we gain them through leveling.Thank You!

Well the pricing is “high” for this not being as big as past gw type expansions. But the price is very fair still for this massive of an mmo without a subscription fee.
I personally have no issues with anything though and am super excited for my dragonhunter and revenant and maybe a druid

I don’t think it would be reported around the net and at gaming sites/magazines if there wasn’t a large portion of the community feeling angry at Anet.
Whether its a majority or a minority isn’t certain. But its definitely a lot.
The devs did a masterful job with the game. But corporate policy seems to have changed since GW1’s heyday. Back then ANet seemed to really be in tune with the playerbase. I honestly wonder what changed. Change in management, or is NCSoft keeping everyone quiet with a gag order?
I really hope whoever is responsible realizes what this current stance is doing for ANet’s reputation.

The fact that its spreading is reason enough that a VERY large portion of the GW2 community is ticked off at this shoddy marketing on ANets part. The fact that the issue is still a hot topic though its already been 4 days speaks volumes of this

I don’t think thread with over 4K replies and counting shows that it’s just a minority unhappy. I am, too and I do not like the treatment and I was supporting the game till now. I was sure I was gonna buy the xpack, but now? I dunno if it’s even worth it.

The thing though, there isn’t an mmo I’ve ever played without something like this happening. Honestly this will just blow over to considering it’s not even a big deal.

^^ only mmos I really really played but I’m sure others had things like this happen to with the forums exploding with a major complaint.
All we can do is live with it, move on, and enjoy the fact toys is still such a great game and HoT will be fun to play once it’s here
It may not blow over and I think you’re doing a disservice to fellow gamers by just glossing over their irritation/outrage/anger etc.
The company has overtly exploited some of their consumers and it shouldn’t just “blow over” just because gaming companies are increasingly more willing to bilk gamers since they know some are willing to wait in line to give their money away, whether the products live up to certain standards or not.

Hey don’t get me wrong, I’m glad that they’re finally adding a feature like Guild Halls which should have been implemented 3 years ago. Heck, I’m even excited about the Revenant, since I can sort of make the Charr “ritualist” that I ways wanted (with staff skills to boot!). But I think this massive response from the community says a lot about the state of the game at the moment.
Even if WoW came out with higher priced expansions in addition to a sub, people thought the amount of content they were getting was worth it. Raids, Questing, races, classes, huge maps. And I don’t just mean one jungle, I mean maps with 8 to 10 new zones, etc. People thought they were getting their money’s worth.
I’m thrilled that they are making an actual expansion, I really am, but you have to consider that the community does not know what to expect in terms of amount of content especially since all this time we’ve just been getting mini updates. It’s hard to toss down money when you are used to getting a relatively small amount of content PER UPDATE. You know what I mean?
If we were getting GW2: CANTHA or GW2: ELONA for example, people already have expectations for how big the new world will be and how much content to expect because they’ll compare it to the original campaigns.
I like the direction they are taking and I hope they continue to make more expansions like HoT in the future. But they need to consider what they’re player base is saying that’s all. We’d happily support things like the gem store where you can spend WAY more money than you would with a sub game easily, if we knew what we were getting out of it.
I can’t wait for Tuesday, seriously I can’t, but life in the real world means I have to. Thanks to all the Devs who have made me work on being patient

It’s hilarious that people are fawning over “all the hard work” they’ve put into HoT and feature X but no one has actually played it. It’s like seeing the house painter rolling up to your front curb and gushing over “all the hard work” before they’ve done anything except knocked on your door and told you how wonderful your house will look after they get done painting it.

The majority of the players probably complained in Lions Arch and just logged off in disgust and never to bother with the game again… The best customers are the ones online complaining about the problems. The minority are here all happy.
