I want to give a sincere thank you to the guild wars team (waves to Gaile Grey) for choosing the make the Revenant as a new class. It brings to mind the Ritualist only better, with aspects of Dervish and Assassin and even Paragon, and for us old “Guildys” it’s a great and exciting gift. I’m looking forward to the expansion more than anything I have since the very beginning of GW2. Well, except maybe.. for the Mad King. Mad King Thorn still owns my heart.

What this means, on a roleplaying note, is even more exciting for me. I have long loved the lore (I own every novel and the original PC Gamer articles on the ecology of the charr so you see I’m clearly nuts) and that IS what the revenant is. A loremaster who brings the legends to the battlefield. I look forward to roleplaying a charr revenant who can channel such glorious charr legends as Pyre Fierceshot, Kalla Scorchrazor, and many others. All of history belongs to us now. Human, Norn, Charr, Asura, and Sylvari.

Sincerely,
Bathea Havocbringer
(Gw1: Legend Ari, Gw2: Bathea Havocbringer, Violo Raptorgaze, Ofela Soulcleave, and many others)

I’m really happy someone I’d enjoying the revanent specs because so far it seems extremely meh to me. I love the idea of it but I’m not liking what I see. However I hope I’m wrong and end up enjoying it

I love the connection to the past, as well. I think it will be fascinating to play as a revenant and to play with revenants in my party. It’s just a fascinating concept, I think: to be able to channel much-revered (or much-feared) characters from days gone by.

I find interesting the concept of the Revenant, but concerns me a bit is that so far, weapons seem to be directly tied to each legend, and without the hability to swap weapons makes it really awkward in real gameplay.

What I mean, is that Staff skills are all about support, so it would not make sense to use staff and have Malyk and Ventari equipped as legends since it would waste Malyk’s capabilities, for example. Malyk, is mainly about conditions, still, Hammer and Staff lack on conditions, so if anyone wants to use Malyk, then necessarily has to use Mace+Axe…which wouldn’t make sense for whatever other legend that is equipped if only weapon set you can use would not be in synergy with the other Legend. This applies to any Legend/weapon set for far.

Was excited when Revenant was discussed in the first Ready/Point of Interest, but without the chance of swapping weapons and weapons that are mainly effective with one legend only, makes it seem quite limited gameplay, I think.

I haven’t had the chance to play any beta, so I hope I’m wrong, but those are my observations so far. sorry for the broken english.

Yeah I hope the revenant gets a faster hammer attack speed and AT LEAST weapon swap. Other than those 2 things that drive me a little insane, I love the profession.

Forever a supporter of more male skimpy armor

I do like the concept, but due to the limited number of legends, I know I’m going to end up disappointed based on what we could have gotten.

Lord Odran
Urgoz
Kanaxai
Jora
Kilroy Stonekin
Corporal Bane*
Lazarus the Dire*
Saul D’Alessio*

And there are some other fun options out there too. :-(

*Obviously there are reasons these may not work, but eh…

Gone for good after Halloween 2Ø12.
A shame fun things could not simply be fun.

I was hoping that weapon would be tied to legend, in terms of legend swap being your weapon swap. I am not dissapointed though, revenant seems perfect for hybrid, so something like mallyx/shiro should be a blast in WvW

Idunno, I think staff actually fits the dwarven legend despite not being designed for it.

Also, I plan to use the Ventari legend regardless of my choice of weapon.
