Sincerely.

You guys worked your butt off on this expansion to make it as great as you could in the time you had for release. There are flaws, but there are flaws with every game. Above any other company, I admire how your teams seem to learn from their mistakes from patch to patch and update to update. This is a thank you for constantly improving yourselves and the game.
- PvE is perfect difficulty for me in HoT (and I know there are few on the forums who express this enough)
- Raids are a blast
- Masteries are keeping me (one of the ones who didn’t farm experience to max them out) engaged in the content even this many months out
- Fractals (despite reward hiccups) are much more fun as single dungeons
- PvP Leagues are one of the BEST features of the expansion

In fact the only qualms I have with the expansion are the power creep and the brevity in the story.

So a heartfelt “thank you” for creating an expansion that I am enjoying. I know there are others out there that feel the same, and hope you share some gratitude (and/or constructive criticism).

- Juxt

I can be quite critical of the game but only because I love it so much and want it to succeed in the long term. But yeah, it’s the only mmo that consistently keeps me playing and I am always in awe of the artistry and beauty of the game.

Well as a dungeon/fractal runner, I have to say I need NEW content. Raid is fine but is not a sustitute for the above.

Learning English, any correction is very welcome.

They announced they will be adding new fractals this year

Thanks from me too, Anet. While the expansion was relatively light on content, I do believe all the new systems flesh out the game a ton. Some are freaking awesome (gliding, raids, guild halls), some are great but need some work (masteries, elite specs), but overall I am hopeful. Also, say what you will about the HoT maps, but they look and sound absolutely amazing. The expansion has in my opinion some of the best scenery I’ve seen in any MMO ever.

So if you guys focus on adding more content and maps that don’t have such a strict timer, all will be well.

PS. Also, visual effects slider. Come on now…

HoT…for the most part…is really good so I’ll +1 this thread. Many thanks to Anet for their efforts. There are aspects that we wish to have seen smoothed out or fuller, but the gist of HoT is dope. The new systems look like a good base to build on and I can’t wait to see how well (or not) you guys are able to expand on it.
p.S. For as much qq as it gets TD (and possibly VB) might be a marvel.

Gotta try for those cheesements.

perfectly fine to totally ignored WvW updates and reveal to the community it was left out prior to HOT release… After people bought the game partially that had a interest in receiving those updates. Months after HOT release, only PvE and sPvP received major updates, WvW got nothing.

No thanks from me to these biased developers.

Do you really not believe the WvW updates don’t need a lot more work to get done than the PvE or PvP ones. WvW doesn’t need a bandaid it needs a transplant. So it takes longer.

Sure that sucks. Doesn’t change the reality of the situation though.

Despite my numerous complaints overall I feel satisfied with the expansion. The keyword I’d use to describe it would be “fun” overall. I’m enjoying the new Druid class, just wish there was some more content like new spvp maps to freshen up the game mode.

Ranger, Warrior, Guardian

Really? New fractals? Excellent!

I disagree with you on raids, though. We don’t need “organized group” content. We need engaging and challenging content. Raids just benefit a tiny sliver of players. Challenge can come in all sorts of ways, not just the typical stuff that passes for “hardcore end-game”.

I want to add that I thought the fight with Mordremoth was actually surprisingly really kinda epic and awesome. Had a sort of manga-esque energy to it, where the protagonist pulls something the villain couldn’t have seen coming. Not gonna spoil it for anyone who hasn’t yet played, but I’m really loving what a character-driven story GW2 is slowly shaping up into.

The expansion is also in general very fun to explore, more immersive than before and unusual for an MMO it rewards patience over impatience. Masteries definitely keep me playing without feeling like I’m missing out on something for lacking them.

EDIT: Also want to add that I completely fell in love with the Revenant. It was touch and go at first but when I started seeing certain similarities between it and my three favorite World of Warcraft classes (druid, death knight and warlock) I realized you guys put together something that couldn’t have better embodied what roles I love to play in an MMO.

I do want to point out that what power creep was introduced I think was mostly intentional, like Wooden Potatoes has pointed out more than once. The Elite specs are not balanced against core, they’re ideally going to be balanced against future ones with the core classes w/ no Elite being very situational or specifically niche builds.

It would be nice to get a red post effectively confirming this though.

I have no shortage of complaints, but I do like the expansion, appreciate the insane amount of talent and effort it took to produce, and am looking forward to the (hopefully) many iterations to come.

Yes, I have to agree. I have been a loyal GW 1 to GW 2. I don’t have HoT yet, and tend to get it soon. However, I must say, with all the negitive vibes from people and some tiny flaws, GW2 is a great game, and I hope will provide years of enjoyment. Thanks Anet for a wonderful fun playable game.

Hats off to you guys,

HoT is indeed a great expansion. People just need to take their time and relax, enjoy the small details and look around. It’s just going to get better with the upcoming ‘filler’ content.

Despite all the bashing the community tends to give the game, it’s one of the shining MMO beacons out there. Keep up the good job (and adjust PvP slightly more often), alright!
