Rewards for TT are also not the greatest compared to the time spent. One of the larger complaints about that boss.

Just doing it again for the three masteries. Yesterday: Success, running the barrels. Gonna try today again with the harpoon and … guess what … I’m pretty sure we can do it. I remember one organized failure and that was … human error. Picking up barrels a tad too early and, yes, they go boom in your hands and that cost us the victory …

After I got my achievement points .. you’re right: I’m probably not going to do it again.

“My” organized TT has a success rate of 90%+ – I run with the same community for TD and we haven’t managed TD once so far. Failure in phase 3 (not enough dps) or failure in phase 2 on Nuhoch.

Taken the organized runs and my pug attemps I am now at 28 attempts in TD and I have never seen a success.

The big difference to TT is the damage phase and you get that with Tequatl as well. You have a lot of people standing close together so a few phalanx warriors will provide m,ight, dropped ele weapons will be grabbed and banners will affect a lot of people – raising the dps significantly.

Especially on SCAR, though, the fight is super confused as you have no real burn phase where people can come together and unload. It’s more continuous damage over time and since everyone is usually spread banners don’t work and sharing/blasting doesn’t affect the whole zerg but only small portions of it.

Now combine this with the fact that many players struggle in HoT and may have changed their armour/trinkets to soldier’s or some other defensive line in a couple of slots. Add in the usual “I’m dead but I don’t want to respawn and run to the fight again” crowd …

This is open world content! The people who go on about how challenging open world content is needed are – my assumption – the ones that you won’t even find doing the event regularily because it gives poor rewards compared to raids and high-level fractals. But they kind of get a good feeling knowing that pugs will fail in a content they don’t even do.

It’s kind of funny how ANet wants do do away with the Zerker meta and then creates a meta that is essentially a Zerker gear check.

Just did another pug run just now of TD Chak Gerent. Killed with 30 secs to spare on all 4 lanes with Novus killing theirs before phase 2 finished.

Pretty soon it’ll be farm mode.

Gerent event, in its current state is poisonous.

In one squad I had joined, on this past saturday, the commander told me to ping my armor and equipment. I asked why and was promptly booted from the squad and asked to taxi to a different server so “people who were qualified to play” could be taxied in .

What changed to make people act this way? I don’t remember Ever encountering that bad of an attitude, before, in GW2.

Then you do not do dungeons, high level fractals or raids …

I hate this behaviour as well but that’s exactly what you get from snotty elitists, and that’s what you got from them before HoT as well. Although, I admit, you do have a point as it brings this kind of behaviour to PvE open world as well …

You don’t need to pick players. There’s enough room for error with the event that you don’t need perfection.

For pugs there aren’t, otherwise why couldn’t we get a >50% win rate now?

Because a lot of pugs are usually lazy and do not put in any effort to deserve the win. The decent pugs already organised themselves in communities.

Pugs who play a game for entertainment … the horror!!

And those organized groups spend about 1h and a bit more zoning to find emtpy maps so they can get all their people into it. But I am sure the ANet’s apologetic evangelists will find plausible explanations as well WHY this is a great design and exactly as it should be.

It depends on the time, I’d say. In off hours you get a lot of people who’re “hardcore” gamers – during prime time you get an infusion of “just my 2h of gameplay for today” warriors.

There’s a big difference in gear and competence between those two groups.

Design like this will just lead to few people actually doing this kind of content. Just look at triple trouble. It is similar and I recently often do not even find a organized map. Tequatl is a kittenton easier than that and thus not comparable to Chak Gerent.

And it is Anets fault for implementing content that basically requires this behavior on a pub-level.

All Anet need to do with this event is, make it that if you kill the Legendary in your lane you get the armor piece unlocked,

All these people saying they have a high success rate with pugs I have to question that,

Ive tried this event with pugs and dedicated, and its failed everytime, i think ive meet about 3 people ingame so far that have actually had a successful run,

The counter problem to this horrible event is that, if Anet made it that you only had to kill the Legandary in your lane, this event would die in a month, as most people who want that armor part would never have to go into this map again.

I don’t mind the map at all, after you learn it, what i detest is the fact that no matter how good or bad i am, my reward is reliant on 60-80 other people on the map knowing what to do, and wanting to do it, if this event was about me on my own fighting a champ or a boss for my loot, then its all on me, but its not.

Hell today we had about 15 people standing on WP who openly admitted to just waiting to see if the event would succeed before helping, and we had another map where a commander was HP farming.

This event is flawed, and compared to the other 3 maps, it needs some major major overhauling.

In a way i totally blame Anet for the lack of skill, because most pugs for the last 3 years have had to press 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, collect loot, and now when they stand and press 1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1 and they don’t get loot, and they don’t know what to do.

After trying (and failing) this event for a week with pug-organised maps, I am observing improvement in attempts to kill the Chak Regents on all four lanes. The main flaw again is that it’s located in an open map, where people also want to explore, do adventures and heropoint. This leads to a significant amount of people not contributing to Chak, slimming down chances of succeeding. Another is the lack of rewarding to this event; players build up expertise fail after fail, until they finally become skilled enough succeed … and then never have to do the event again. This shifts average playerbase doing the Meta to less experienced players. third is the timer and player activity times. Skimming lfg every half hour before Chak spawns, I’ve noticed organised runs only occur 3 or 4 times a day in the late afternoon/early evening. If for some reason I can’t be online at exactly these times, I lose a day of progress. Lastly: Progress! On all new Legendaries and some of the other new collections, a Chak-related item is necessary to progress. The Chak Gerent has therefor become just another barrier in progressing and merely another “annoying content I’ll have to grind through once”.

The best option I can imagine for this, is a scaling reward at the end instead of a “all-or-nothing” chest, giving a chance of – and certainty of the collectible on respectively 1-3 or 4 killed Chak. That or allow commander to kick all players not participating of the map (/s).

Sorry if this feels like a rant aswell, but have been struggling against Anet trying to turn me into an Elitist. ^^

The TD event rewards is in line with the other maps in my opinion.

One thing that Anet could do would be to add unique, desirable weapon skins as rare drops from the TD chest. It’ll improve the rewards for that meta and add more skins to the game that can be obtained outside of the gem store.

Tried a few times yesterday with the pugs. All fails. BUT, I lucked out (or thought I did) and had this TDMS – tangled depths meta squad – guild organize on my map. Things I noticed with the organized group:
- Requests for no pugs on the nuhoc lane since apparently we will kitten it up. lol.
- Had a different technique (from what I had a commander say previously) for the SCAR lane so it seems the info getting passed around might be confusing for pugs depending on who lead them previously. Hopefully people will get on the same page.
- “soft” gear check, in that commanders were requesting DPS/zerker but didnt specifically require you to ping gear. Interesting, since “play how you want” is advertised as a positive for GW2 and yet will cause failure in open world events.

We still failed with TDMS lol. But at least I got more info on how to run the lanes. And I got past the first burn phase, which I’ve never seen before!

Also, I’m not ragging on TDMS since they were cool dudes, just listing my observations.

It all comes down to luck. I finally got my first completion yesterday and that run went flawlessly. Nuhoch downed their Gerent in phase 2 and everyone else finished theirs off with over 2 minutes left in phase 3.

Virtually everyone on the map was there to participate. We had so many people that we had trouble figuring out where to place the late-comers after all lanes were “full”. People ate food. People brought their DPS. And it was super easy.

It’s all luck. You get lucky and have good players on your map. Or you get unlucky and have too many bad players. RNG when it comes to loot is frustrating but RNG when it comes to players is even worse.

I believe the tag that handled the Nuhoch lane was guild organized but I think most people on the map were randoms taxi’d in (like myself).

Because this is what people want to do…use third party program in order to play one of the basic parts of the expansion….yaaay. /sarcasm off. Tripple trouble is the most similar to TD and look how many people are doing it. None. I killed that wurm just twice since it was released exactly because I don’t want to bother with 3rd party programs and the “wonderful” megaserver sys-not-tem

Except groups like LUCK have been able to organize TD runs without teamspeak and with plenty of pugs. It takes organization and people must listen. But it can be done in map chat. And of course, you must bring your dps gear/spec. Running around in nomads for this fight is just plain stupid. It’s a good fight and I hope they don’t touch it.

That’s the whole basis of the guild LUCK. Our goal is to assist pugs in doing otherwise hard events. Currently our focus is on teaching people TD.

I still have not gotten a chance to get a win with the Chak event with 20+ tries so far. I always end up using the LFG tool (it is the only tool available for me, since every time I log in, the majority of my adopted guilds are asleep. And I’ve also noticed the TD map is barren every time I log in as well. I’ve made a decision I will get a win whenever I get lucky with a map full of GW2 expert players. These are the cool people with legendaries and ascended armor. I don’t have any of those, so I’m not part of them.
