The Megaserver is defunct
WP to new map area – 30 seconds later. this map is empty would you like to go to another? – Select Yes – 20 seconds later. this map is empty would you like to go to another? Select Yes – a minute later. this map is empty would you like to go to another?
Apparently – working as intended.

Perhaps someone from Anet would be so kind as to explain to us poor consumers how mega-server is supposed to work to our advantage with the way they’ve structured participation and with lengthy map meta chains. Absent such explanation, I am forced to conclude that the only advantage is that we can get lucky and taxi (itself kind of a pain) to a viable shard. This also leaves the impression that the underlying structures to support player engagement with the content are inadequate to the task.
PVP esport is their priority. Free to play accounts, and forcing vets to play pvp (vets want ap, so they must play it) are their way to force more ppl in pvp.
Since pvp has always been a bit laggy (and now strangely, much rare is laggy), I suspect, pvp got more servers at the cost of pve, and that the devs are ignoring the megaservers atm, thinking it’s a non issue. Henceforth, this issue will be ignored till we shout loud enough.
If my suspician is true, it really raises a lot of question on the business decisions of Anet. Either way, not acknowledging the issue (and not fixing it yet, as of now it seems), is a big error.
No excuse anymore for not giving ‘hide mounts’-option
No thanks to unidentified weapons.
The CEO has decreed that GW2 will be an e-sport first and foremost. Never mind that the player base is angry and shrinking, because e-sports are the wave of the future… or at least that’s what he read in some video game manufacturer’s trade journal.
GW2 will never be an important e-sports game…ANet is banging its head at the wrong wall…

I would really like to see them implement gw1’s district system. It worked so well and i think it would work in gw2 as well and be much better than this taxi system which i think is bugging out the megaserver in itself. Just look at the LFG at any given time and there’s so much taxiing going on to different maps/events and the megaserver is getting confused. Especially since HoT where now multiple maps are trying to be filled all the time and there’s to much movement going on between these maps with the taxi system.
With the gw1 district system, people can choose which district to got to from a drop down menu and each district has a number allocated (explaining this for benefit of people who hadn’t played gw1) for eg: NA dist 10. The megaserver can have a set number of districts available at any given time, say 30 for eg and then create more if those get filled. This would eliminate the need of having to join groups via LFG, then having to leave that group so more can be taxied in and also having to re-advertise. Instead, you just put in LFG, doing DS meta in dist 10 and people move in until its full. The overflow crowd can then advertise district 11 till it gets full etc. A game message could be broadcast in the map that tell people in it that it’s now full so they can remove the advert from LFG and also people trying to join that map can also receive a message as they do now that district map is full and i think this would make everyone happy.
I honestly don’t understand why this system wasn’t carried across from gw1 to begin with. That game had some very nifty features and everyone liked the district system. I think it would work very well with the megaserver technology in this game as well, but instead, we have this this setup in gw2 that’s an absolute mess and very few people like it.
Just got kicked out of TD during 3rd phase of Gerent – full map. 200% participation.

Everytime I hear "GW2 and “esports” in the same sentence, it just makes me literally cringe. If they truly wanted o be ESpirts material, they wouldn’t have hosted a tournament for….what was it, 200k? Right after the Balance Bomb that was HoT. Hell they never managed to get the balance right for anything yet in PvE or PvP, even WvW mechanical balance (defense vs attacking). And most of their balance changes aren’t even worth the wait time. And Colin I think even said the whole esports thing is for marketing, well hell, that’s even worse. Advertising GW2 PvP as Esports is like advertising a Papa Johns as a 5 star gourmet Italian restaurant.

Ok this is getting ridiculous, Anet please wake up and do something to fix this megaserver issue.
Tt happened again, this time in AB. We were on the final burn phase, the map was full and we all got kicked out. There’s something seriously wrong here and it should be an absolute priority to fix.
