I took a few days off for cool down. Perhaps it was just me. I’m back at the final personal story fight dealing with The Pale Tree.

ANET, why do you not get that repeated unavoidable death is not fun? There is a difference between “challenging content” and Sadism.

Why not take the course that your sister game (STO, Star Trek Online ) followed and allow players who want power video gamer content to choose hard mode?

you don’t have to fight her. just pick someone else other than Caith. I personally find her not too hard as a zerker mesmer.

-edit- I got it done. Still, I’d like to know why I’m struggling so hard if players claim it’s easy.

The fight started off pretty easy, but there’s something amiss in the tells for her damage circles. I would be standing outside them but still taking damage. The final third of that fight was stupidly frustrating.

Many alts; handle it!

-edit- final flight phase; knocked down, launched, knocked down while launching, launched, knocked down while launching… died while my loyal npc Braham the emo man stood there and looked stupid.

What was so difficult about her in normal mode? Her channeling attack can have its damage reduced simply by killing all of the adds before they reach her. Her circle attacks have an obvious tell as indicated in orange. If you’re unable to melee her for whatever reason, use ranged attacks.

You know what anet? Fine, be like that. Running the dragon meta isn’t economic because it fails more often than not and the drop rate for reclaimed metal is so low that it isn’t going to be worth it for me to go to the Overlook vendors for weeks at this rate.

So, imma keep coming back until I find the holes, just like a dungeon and imma figure out how to farm this dumb fight.

Just kill the twelve mobs who spawn spread out all over the arena. But don’t get too far from the boss or she’ll spam knockdowns. But don’t get close either because then you get stuck in the constant rings of long launch CC. The best I’ve managed in that fight is to get her down to two adds absorbed in a wave. But in the later stages it’s generally eight or ten per wave. You just eat too much CC and you can’t avoid it all and kill the adds at the same time.

Stability works but not sure about blocks. You can also dodge her attack. I usually just DPS her down at that point while paying attention to her other attacks.

They spent all this year talking about how the HoT content was all designed to be more challenging and engaging, essentially pumping up the idea that HoT is Hard Mode. Plus, the Tree is entirely optional – just don’t pick Caithe.

I should be writing.

This might sound weird from a gaming perspective; I feel Caithe ‘should’ be one of the party chosen. I never actually distrusted her. Braham is the one I’m leery of Braham LeRoyson.

Seriously though, some of my decision making in game is RP and ethics based. For example; I consistently choose to rescue the prisoners in the first episode. That’s just what I feel is the right thing to do.

I finished the episode and calmed down some. Thanks for pointers on The Pale Tree.

Juggernut Scrapper ( flamethrower) Have really easy time with her from stability.

It’s my reccommend class to play with it.
