By the time you’ve completed them and you can actually travel across the new zones without running into brick walls around every corner, you’ll have already seen everything there is to see, you’ll have already played through all of the events, you’ll have already played through the content. You’ll have to grind so much xp, that by the time you’re done, you’ll never want to step foot in there again, so it ends up being all for nothing.

No, the irony is how many people complained that they had nothing left to improve on their characters after reaching level 80 and the lack of “end game” content. Now there is an expansion that is essentially only end game content with constant things to earn for your character and people complain about that.

i don’t even mind the mastery grind, I honestly did not expect the elite specs to be so heavily gated though, and that’s what bothers me. I’d have to pretty much get all the hero points in every single zone to unlock it or get map completion all over again and then complete 2 entire zones worth of hero points in meguuma

I was all for this a few days ago, but I’ve been proven wrong on this one.

I didn’t even finish the first map and I already have 75% of my elite specs unlocked. And personally, I think elite spec training should be much harder than it is. But to guys like you we shall all see some nerfs pretty soon. I just hope Anet won’t be nerfing Raids when casual players start crying…

I take it you aren’t on a revenant then, since revs are so new, no ones going to have map completion for tyria so it will take much longer. and good, this should be nerfed.

you know what other games gate things behind? Story, quests.
It’s not the fact that players don’t want to improve their characters, it’s the fact of how you do it. No other MMO that wasn’t a Korean grinder ever told their players to grind the same few events over and over and over again, or kill mobs with exp pots to progress their characters.

Gimmick abilities you’ll only use a handful of times is not progression, or content. Once you have your hero points there is literally zero reason to step foot in Maguuma ever again, all of those masteries and abilities you had to grind millions of xp for become useless.

I plan to go with my revenant to old maps and do them first, because I enjoy this. And I have no reason to rush everyting. Also, you can just do the hero points and avoid hearts, vistas, etc if want it faster. Don’t see any problem here. I enjoy doing things, not rushing things in 1 day.

I don’t plan to rush it in a day, but you aren’t seeing the problem here, I will have to 100% the HOT for the HP which are heavily gated, normally I wouldn’t care, gating things is something that should be a part of every MMO, but your elite spec should not require you to get through the entire expansion and then some to even begin using efficiently.

and the lack of “end game” content

There is still a lack of endgame content.

Smart players are complaining because they can see through ArenaNet’s smoke screen and realize that HoT has very, VERY little content. All the grind required to unlock everything is just ArenaNet’s way of trying to artificially inflate the duration of the little content they have added to the game.

Some gullible players have been deceived and can’t tell the difference between grinding and content. I’m happy we have many smart players in this forum, though.

I do enjoy the mastery “grind”

1st person worldwide to reach 35,000 achievement points.

Unfortunately, many of the those who see through it also preordered.
