The problem - The solution
If they separate the expansion from the full game, include a bonus character slot, and place the price at $35 bucks, then I would be happy. I still wouldn’t pre-purchase it though, because I don’t know what I’m getting, and those pre-purchase practices are bad for us as consumers.

the character slot ins’t the solution, for me it will be useless has i have only 3 characters since game launch and have a 4th at lvl 20ish for half a year. so like the argument that were paying something for something we don’t need (the base game) to me the char slot would feel the same.
i don’t have a problem with the price, and think its awesome the base game for free for new players, id love if it was say 35€ instead of 45€ ofc, and i would also love something extra just cause were veterans but that would be from their good will, we don’t deserve anything more just for having bought the game at launch.
this char slot proposed solution is no solution for the supposed problem that we deserve something more
I never proposed char slot. (not on this thread at least) v
“offer something of equal value.”
That’s what I’m asking.
I also have no problem with the PRICE, and if you feel like it’s ok for your money to hold less value than that of another consumer, that’s perfectly fine. It is a personal opinion.
I’m no veteran, I hate the world, and like I said above, time invested has nothing to do with it. All we’re asking is for our money to hold the SAME VALUE of another consumer.
And it does, Wolfeng. IF you accept that HoT is a new game and all you get as “veteran” is your wealth ans stats transferred to it. You buy HoT, you start with everything you worked for over the last 3 years in a new environments. This also justifies the no free slots. And also the added value for the veterans, by allowing them to keep everything from the previous game (which is no longer viable and available on its own).
But in this scenario, ANet held a marathon of lies and deceit. And while I wouldn’t see a problem with HoT as a new game, building up on the knowledge and elements from GW2, you don’t support a company you don’t trust or with the record Anet has made for me. They didn’t bother to fix their old game (GW2, not GW1) because this day was coming, with a fresh start in HoT. They did bother to get more cash via game shop ludicrous offers and policy to finance this “Guild Wars 2: A Realm Reborn” project. It worked, HoT will land on the shelves, no matter how disgruntled the veterans are.
Keep in mind that you didn’t ask for anything when moving from GW1 to GW2. Their HoM incentive was a bonus (which also ended in failure), to both people riding the hype trait to GW2 but not playing GW1 and to the dedicated players of the game.
This – starting on with a new game – is the only thing to align everything they’ve said and done. It’s disgusting, repulsive, but – if they return to their roots – does still offer them a chance to clean their honor with the newcommers.
Again this talk of “Time invested is your reward”. Thats bullkitten.
My account, and that of many others, only had access to the same stuff a new consumer can also achieve.
If I want to value my money right now , it is a far better deal for me to get HoT on a new account rather than my old one. Because that’s where the value is at.
2 accounts worth of content, or a single one to access the expansion? Can you see the difference in value now?
A-net keeps forums to hear what “us” players have to say. I truly hope they are listening.
My family has 6 accounts. If we do the lesser expansion, that’s $300. For the greater expansion $600.
How would you feel if you had to pay $300 or $600… for the honor of playing a game you already have.
I have to say that I am very unhappy about the expansion.
@Icursealot (love the name btw)
The thing is, I’m actually considering that the expansion is worth 50$.
So assuming Anet can fix this fiasco, you will probably still pay 300 or 600 for the expansion for all your accounts.
