I think this is related to the poison resistance mastery. It’s the 4th one in the Itzel line, I think? Try leveling that and then coming back to it.
If you eat the bacon, your hp is refilled. If you look around, there’s a bunch of adrenaline mushroom which refreshes your skill. There’s a mastery that gives you immunity to poison haze and another mastery to let you consume those mushrooms.

… You do realize that this is the entire design philosophy behind the jungle zones, right? We’ve been told from the beginning that masteries would be required for some areas.
you could ask if a druid could be so kind to keep you healed for a minute,
but yeah, like so many hero points Anet thought it’d be fun to stick it behind the mastery grind-wall with the intent that you’d do that hero point after getting the poison mastery.
