I used to be very unhappy for being poor. Until I find the power of hallucination.

When I see a Ferrari, I stopped thinking I want it. I start to tell myself sports car are very uncomfortable anyway.

When I see people with a big house, I start telling myself who want big house anyway. It take too long to clean up.

When I see people with legendary, I just tell myself who would want some sparkly shinny item with so many particle effect that you can’t see anything. “Point to the big Norn warrior wearing twilight”. And the little asura that wear sunrise looks like a kid running around peeing.

Some people make the claim “I want my elite specialist now, so I can play the new content with it…..” I just tell myself, those specialist suck anyway. Really, who in the right mind use druid/reaper/dragonhunter to explore the jungle. Those spec is really bad at exploration.

Some people complain about the mastery grind. But really, why are you grinding for an auto loot which crash your game. A precursor hunt mastery which cost more than buying the precursor directly from the trading post. A fractal mastery which drop bad loot.

I listen to many small guild complain about guild hall grind. But really, I don’t even understand why anyone care. Why are people grinding for a npc repair guy or merchant, which every map have.

So you see, instead of thinking the grass is always greener on the other side, think the grass is always greener on your side.

That being said, I’m finally rich enough to afford legendary. I think legendary are really cool. After I got my druid specialist, I find it being really cool. But I never use it. After I finally reach mastery level 30. I tell myself everyone lower level than me is a noob, and everyone higher level than me have no life.

Cheer and stay happy.

I can’t know the OP’s mind for sure, but I think he’s suggesting (quite reasonably and without ranting or complaining) that what is or isn’t important depends on one’s perspective. Or whatever.

I think what the OP is suggesting is that GW2 used to be something wonderful – a game full of exploration, party-on-the-fly-with-others to over come challenges and wondering what lies over the horizon.

Now, it’s just another, “Grind X-number of hours for +1 Charisma” game.

Masteries, Legendaries and <<chortle, chortle>> “Elite Traits” are only fractionally better than Exotics, that you can buy on the TP for next to nothing. A good player needs nothing more than Exotics.

All else is Vanity (….or Delusion).

You must be playing a different game, because the new zone is the way you said. There’s very slight leveling of the first three masteries afterwhich everyone is pretty much together. Much like when you were level 50 at launch and someone was level 20. You had to stay in a lower level area, because they were too low. It’s not really different.

You’ve just not remembering correctly. Plenty of fun exploration going on.

I have everything except one bugged Hero Point unlocked in the first map and my Elite is also unlocked. (By the way, I have 4,600 hours in the game).

In order to further my Masteries, I have to keep repeating the same events.

Is this not the case? I’m not being snarky in this post (like I was in the prior one). If you have some advice that will allow me to avoid this repetition, please give it.

I think what you are doing is hijacking his/her thread to complain about a game you don’t enjoy to play as much anymore, and have many qualms against.

I don’t agree with the last paragraph (though I imagine it was stated more or less jokingly), but do share the sentiment that “grind” is more of a player perception-a glass half-empty kind of outlook on a game that’s not really grindy at all.

I agree that a player needs nothing more than exotics, but can’t see how it relates to the thread.

There’s no reason you can’t currently enjoy GW2 as a " game full of exploration, party-on-the-fly-with-others to over come challenges and wondering what lies over the horizon", unless you just don’t like it that much, which is fine, but not an universal complaint. I still enjoy the game in the manner you describe, which you seemingly believe it’s not “possible” anymore-even after HoT.

And to the poster who complained about Laokoko’s English, would you just take your racist attitude out of these international forums? You can still understand what the OP was stating-otherwise ask for clarification, but these immature insults are uncalled for, and contribute nothing to the thread.

You can get by if you have alts. I’m progressing decently by playing alts in the new zones. I don’t really need to grind.

If you only have 1 character though, you kind of have to grind the exp.

Also you most likely will be farming money anyway. So just find areas where you can farm and get the exp at the same time.

That’s actually a very good point. But, while I’ve tried and leveled every profession to 80 (except Mes and Elem), after waiting 3 years for an expansion, I only really play my Engi.

I’m not sure what difference it makes what profession I play the new maps on. Repetition is repetition. If there were 20 new maps, with several gated to Race, that would be one thing. But I’m not really going to just keep funneling Alts into the new map to grind for xp to get Masteries.

It may seem obvious to you and me, but it wasn’t so to the poster I was replying to, who seems to have deleted their post and now mine looks out of context.

It’s fine-it was probably removed by moderators, because it was rather inappropriate. Someone else most have reported it. Don’t want to repeat its content, of course. Your post is still relevant to the thread.

When it comes to leveling masteries in the Maguuma line, I don’t know how you would ever accomplish it without repeating the same DEs over and over again. I mean, what else are you gonna do? There’s only 4 maps.

If the definition of grind is repeating the same actions over and over…yeah.

Well, that’s kind of the point. If the XP gate to the Masteries were removed, there would only be about 24 hours of new content. There is very little content to justify a fifty dollar expansion or a three year wait.

And what exactly is it that you will have “Mastered” ? Core game mechanics?

I’m not sure you have to keep doing the same events. But reguardless it’s always been the same events more or less. There’ is really zero different between escorting a merchant in Snowden Drifts and escorting a merchant in Gendarran Fields. The setting is different, the event is event is exactly the same. The enemies die so fast it doesn’t matter what they are in the core game. It’s just the illusion of doing something different.

HoT gives you harder content, and yes, there is less of it. However, the raids will be out in 2 weeks and apparently that gives you stuff to do too.

BTW, the adventures give a ton of XP and can be done once a day for bronze, gold and silver metal, and there’s plenty of variety in adventures.

And you can farm mobs in different parts of the map if you like as well.

I do some events, I farm some creatures, I do the adventures, and soon I’ll be raiding as well.

There are at least 6-9 events at each outpost at the first zone, plus other events that spawn at night, including bosses at each place.

I can’t think of any event in this zone I haven’t already done dozens of times anyway and I know when I was leveling I repeated events many times.

So yeah, I don’t necessarily agree with what you’re saying.
