The RP Community needs a jumpstart, and what better way to get people involved than having premade commands. Nothing too extreme, but basic commands people can enjoy and use to better express themselves through their character, rather than simply typing everything up while their character performs no visible action. I have written a bunch of commands that could easily be put in the game with not much effort. I have written the most needed commands. Every other RPG game has these commands. Guild Wars 2 is lagging far behind on the emote department.

Commands Needed:

/hi, /hello = A way of greeting another. (Animated)
/bye, /goodbye, /farewell = A way of saying goodbye to another. (Animated)
/silly, /joke = premade jokes voiced by the voice actors/actresses. (Voiced)
/flourish, /brandish = Whirl your weapon around for show. (Animated)
/scream = A loud scream voiced by the voice actors/actresses. (Voiced)
/thumbsup = Thumbs up. (Premade emote)
/thumbsdown = Thumbs down. (Premade emote)
/raspberry = Stick your tongue out and go “pfffffft!” at target. (Animated)
/angry = Frustrated, grumbling, muttering indistinctly. (Voiced)
/sorry, /apologize = An apology voiced by the voice actors/actresses. (Voiced)
/chair = Sit down with legs together and hands upon your lap, as though sitting on a chair or stool. (Animated)
/shocked = Suddenly stagger and express a shocked emotion with body language. (Animated)
/beg, /plead = Drop to your knees and plead or beg. (Animated)
/grovel = Drop low to the ground and grovel at a target. (Animated)
/pray = What’s the point of having God Statues everywhere if you can’t even /pray? This drops you to one-knee kneeled position, with your head low, like a Holy Knight. (Animated)
/pray2 = Drops you low, like /pray, but peforms a different animation with you bowing your head and clasp your hands together. (Animated)

Laugh 2 (because the current female laughs just sound like witch cackles, or males drunken brawl laughs)

I’m all in favor of adding more emotes!

However, PyroPrincess, I think you should revise the emotes we actually have, because some of the ones you request already exist, or have a decent alternative.

For Hi and Bye most people uses /wave, or /salute, or even /bow.
For Shocked the option is using /surprised.
For Pray, we have /kneel. You can even use it in the shiverpeaks to get bonuses from the spirit shrines. The asura version is EXACTLY what you describe as a “holy knight one-kneeled position”.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Emote here is a complete list.

On the other side, there are lots of emotes we do need. Anet added a few ones with the LS3: /upset (/facepalm is the same), /talk, /crossarms, /sad and /thanks, which I thank a lot, but they are still not enough.

We still need the /chair one, an /applause, a /yawn, a /highfive, a less exagerated /laugh, etc. /kiss and /handshake could be hard to do, but would be incredibly amazing to see available in game.

Other ideas I would like to see:
/idle: just a new bunch of random idle animations. It could be linked to professions, races or even gamemodes.
/afk: it is also automatically prompted when the user don’t activate any command for a time. The character sleeps standing, drooling and making slow circles with the head.
/inventary: it is also automatic when you spend more than 30 secs on your inventary. The character unpacks and search things in its clothes and bags.
/timeout or /brb: The character makes the typical “t” gesture with the hands and stands that way for a while. Alternatively, it could make the gesture of looking its watch while impatiently tapping the floor with one foot.

Yeah but hi and bye are a lot different than just a wave. I don’t think I have ever seen someone salute another as a method of saying goodbye. They actually say goodbye. I like the bow emote, but not for saying hi and goodbye. Those are different. /kneel and /pray are two different things. Perhaps maybe it could be the same emote and they code /pray into the /kneel, so there’s two commands to access the kneel command. I type /hi, /hello, /bye, /goodbye all the time and it comes up constantly as Unknown Command. Same with pray. They should link multiple emotes to a single animation so you don’t have to search around on websites for a specific command that may still not get the message across.

Since they can’t read our mind, I tend to always research things beforehand to see if they have already done something to solve any problem I see. (They usually have, just not the way I would have imagined).

Anyway, I agree, linking /pray to the current /kneel make sense. Also having a more subtle or specific way to say goodbye could be great. But I still think they aren’t as urgent as others, like the /chair one.

I think /sit would be difficult to program. If an Asura used its standard sit animation on a Norn chair, I’m guessing it would end up on the floor. If a Norn used its standard sit animation on an Asura chair, its rear would probably be floating in space. Would Charr sit like humanoids? I suppose they would, but again, the size and/or height of chairs (stools, benches, etc.) would probably mess up a lot of sit animations.

I would love more emotes as well. Not just for Role play but also for screenshots and artwork as well. Though I doubt we’ll see more emotes anytime soon. It took 4 years to get some new emotes and even those emotes were only added because they already existed in the game anyway. Anet just made them available for players to use.

Also as some people already said, some emotes you suggested are too similar to emotes we already have, or too hard to program. So I wouldn’t expect those if I were you. I also wouldn’t expect voiced emotes as it requires anet to call in all the voice actors again, I doubt they would do that just for a few emotes.

I have some suggestions of my own, it probably won’t go anywhere but who knows. I can at least try

Flex
beg
grovel
shy
bored
excited
moan
rock (or paper/scissors)
yawn
pout

Many of these are also in Guild Wars 1.

Dear A-net: Please nerf rock. Paper is fine

Somewhere I read a good idea to solve the /chair problem.
Its really simple: make the chair part of the animation. We don’t need to sit on the chairs present on the ambient. We just need to sit in a way that is not so disruptive and weird when in front of a table or inside a bar.

So lets say the Asura just make a floating seat appear and sit on that. The char can trust a metal chair in the floor, the norn just produce a tall folding stool or something like that. Evey one has a chair to sit on, you don’t have to force an interaction with the environment, but you don’t look silly seated in the floor while having some food with your friends in a dinner. (BTW, an /eat would be awsome!)

I want updated /dance. Because they’re mostly based off pop culture.

And also to add /sassy to cycle vogue poses.
