OK, what am I missing?

I mean … you got this treasure mushroom with about 10 Million HP in one of the most mordrem infested zones – you got those nice mounted cavaliers in the veteran version to make sure you have all the fun of being bounced around for all eternity, you ma ykill 5 enemies but then the first you killed will already respawn … and now … how the … are you supposed to do that mushroom thing?

Oh, yes, it is a group event … meaning you have to get people together. Well, been trying to do that for 3 days now … empty maps, those few peaople that are there do meta or HP … mentor tag, commander tag, spamming in chat … 0 people interested in killing a treasure mushroom on map 1.

So … what am I missing? Where is the hidden trick to make this a “wonderful gaming experience” instead of a horribly frustrating one? Whoever did THAT design in THAT location … should GW 2 HoT fail .. pat him on the back, it’s things like that that will have sersiously helped to put people off.

Fun thing is … on map 2 and 3 I had to kill the bugger by myself as well because noone was interested – sole exception was that it was DOABLE because the monster composition/spawn rate was actually manageable.

Edit: Oh, and it so much more fun with a ranger … obstructed, obstructed, obstructed … which does, apparently, not apply to any ranged enemy – they hit you fine, indeed.

The Treasure Mushroom runs away from you. You need to maneuver it so that it’s pinned in a corner and has nowhere to run. Yes, it’s more of a pain in Verdant Brink with all the Mordrem around, but with some smart positioning you’ll be able to get it to a spot where no Mordrem spawn, kill any that are already agroed, then focus on the mushroom.

Unless there is a specific reason why you have to kill the VB mushroom I would advise you to leave it and kill the one’s in either Auric basin or Tangled depths, mobs are not a problem at those ones.

Yep. I’ve been farming these things trying to get an invisible boot box. They’re a major pain in the rear. Stupidly low drop rate, tons of health, in congested enemy areas (the VB is terrible and the TD one is just as bad, if not worse, when the chak/beetle event is up down there), and they flip away when you finally do get them cornered.

Not so much tons of fun. Or even remotely fun.

Finally got the bugger under the tree towards the wp and managed to kill it in like 10 minutes … must have been lucky in TD with the event – in VB I sure got the “protect the soldier” twice + all the nice spawns that come with it.

What kind of has me wondering … are the drops (items for specialization weapons) purely random (so you don’t have to kill a specific mushroom) or are the drops tied to the location? I’ve been going after the VB one when I didn’t get the specialisation drops from the locations I already killed them at …

Apparently the collection drops are coming in alpha order by the elites you’ve unlocked, so Berserker, Chronomancer, Daredevil etc. Someone posted earlier today that it was actually whichever collection you have most advanced, but I disproved that for myself when I killed my first mushroom today (it was in VB, happily a couple of other people arrived a few minutes in, and yes I did announce it in map at the start). I am 7 or 8 pieces towards Bo and was 3 pieces towards Wild Abandon, but yep, the mushroom went to Wild Abandon.

So now I have to find two more mushrooms. I missed Auric’s because I hadn’t gotten that WP yet on the alt I was on, haven’t tried Tangled yet. I don’t know how often they spawn, either. So it’ll take a bit. But hey, long as I get them by Tuesday, it’s fine. Since I can’t get my Thief map completion box ’til the patch anyway.

(Also I was sad to have 48 crystalline ore when I finished DS today. I would have liked the Daredevil inscription. Ah well, I do like running that event!)

Happily off original topic: Any tip how to get those metal plates? I’m drowning in all three currencies (seem to be VERY lucky getting the 100+ in airship parts and suchlike) but somehow I’m stuck at 2 metal plates and can’t seem to get a third I need for weapon trade in.

I only have one plate, alas. I think you need to salvage yellow reclaimed weapons for them (which is why those cost so much on the TP). I’m just going for the inscription to start, then I can build up the resources for the plated weapon and whatever I need to do to machine it.

Maybe my one plate came from a blue or a green, but I really don’t know. Yellows seem more likely.

I soloed the one in Tangled Depths yesterday. It wasn’t too hard to trap it in a corner. I helped some guy do the one in VB a while ago. What a crazy fight that was! Enemies everywhere: cavaliers, snipers, punishers, etc. I got knocked off a ledge at one point and had to make my way back up. Heck I didn’t even have another collection open to get credit, but that was great fun.

I spend the last 2 days soloing every treasure mushroom in the 4 zones. I got to each of them at least once, and I got to VB, AB, and TD more than once.

It really helps to have 2-3 more folks, but you can do it solo.

Doing VB solo was something like one of those nightmares that never seems to end, but about 25 minutes of running around like a crazy person, spinning, dodging, evading, burning, running, turning, leaping, gliding off the edge and back again, rinse and repeat over and over all the while burning dps on that dang mushroom saw me victory.

Why are you lying? Empty maps for 3 days you’re completely full of it. I type in map chat treasure mushroom and link the ep and about 10 people come. I open up lfg and get a full party on a minute.

Just stop man

I’ve been doing that treasure mushroom solo daily on my zerker reaper.

The class is the key. On a squishy class the mushroom is hard because all of the enemies will ambush you. On the reaper I find myself ignoring many of the enemies, simply because I out-heal them. The large AoE DPS from Nightfall + 2 wells also helps out a lot. The biggest factor is chill. While a regular treasure mushroom runs around frantically, a chilled treasure mushroom barely hobbles. The disabled mushroom doesn’t wander too far, so after you’ve killed the enemies around it, you’re free to bash on the shroom for awhile.

I don’t have opinions. I only have facts I can’t adequately prove.

Another customer for the new ‘I win’ button… coming soon on the gem store.

Seriously, can this game have more difficult content without ppl complaining about it not being a near automatic success? You know what I did with that mushroom? I asked for help in map chat and I got it nearly every time as opposed to you apparently. That shroom is only hard if you insist to kill it alone among all these modrems.

I’ve only fought the treasure mushrooms on my reaper. As Blood Red Arachnid says, one can fairly well ignore adds. I got the AB mushroom pinned against the stream last night and some bristlebacks joined the fun. Their showers of bristles simply weren’t a problem as I focused on the mushroom (I was hoping they were also damaging the mushroom, but I can’t be sure if they were, though I did try to keep it between me and the dinos). I had time to send out multiple map calls letting people know I was fighting the mushroom, even though normally I can’t type during combat. No one came til the last little bits of health and thus I effectively soloed it down.

I have a feeling I’ll find it a tougher proposition on other professions.

Speaking of professions, the alpha order continues. In my three drops I’ve gotten Berserker, Chronomancer, Daredevil. I guess I’ll be getting Dragonhunter, Druid, Reaper, Scrapper, Tempest next, then Herald if/when I make my revenant. And I know I’ll never get invisible feet because I don’t get the really rare drops that sell for thousands.
