Curious to see how this will work.
short answer it won’t work like most of underwater skills. untill we get a revamp of the underwater skills, with some talents to go along with ‘em and the option to switch specks and gear automatically once we’re underwater. IF it happens (and that’s a big if, sad panda here cause i love underwater) it will be in 20 years time when the only dragon left would be the underwater one and it’ll be just us, old geezers cheering for that much needed underwater revamp..
seriously though, a good question, i predict they’ll go the lazy road and give each underwater weapon it’s skills and most of the utilities and elites won’t apply underwater. call me cynical if you like…

Not all skills have to work in underwater combat. Anet just have to make two legends feasible underwater.
So a revenant would have to retrait every time his or head goes underwater? Or would this be like the alternate utility-set we get when we swim? It still seems like it would be hard to be decently traited if your equipped legends completely change underwater.

Do you have to retrait everytime your Mes/Guard/War/Thief/Nec/Rang/Engi/Ele went underwater? The answer is already there but some people just refuse to look for it, don’t they?
I was sort of thinking out loud I tend to choose trait lines based on my alt’s preferred weapons and we don’t yet know if Rev underwater weapons will be included in traiting, or if there will be any correlative value.
I think my response mostly sprang from thinking you had to choose your legends on land and wouldn’t be able to swap them underwater without doing it manually, and then I realized the legends fill the utilities so maybe they’d swap automatically, and I meandered on from there.

If it’s anything like engineer, half of your abilities will not work underwater.

It’s quite baffling, really. I mean, are people that unfamiliar with underwater combat that they don’t know you can have different utilities and a whole other weapon for underwater?
If I’d have to guess, there might just be a Legend specifically for under water with perhaps 1 being made amphibious.

Definitely. I wish they would just remove underwater combat from the game, remove the enemies from underwater and just make those environments exploration-only. It would be no loss for the game, it would save work for ArenaNet since they would remove skills that aren’t fun using anyway, and they wouldn’t have to worry about underwater skills for the Revenant at all.
Underwater combat is great. Just needs some work for the melee skills and some seriously balancing. Enabling more skills uw would help too.

I wish Anet would just remove everything this guy likes, remove all his gold and just make his account view-only. It would be no loss for the game, it would save me from having to reply every time someone says that everyone hates underwater combat, and they wouldn’t have to worry about pleasing underwater-haters.
ANet will disable skills for revenant when underwater and will state they’re working on it. Indefinitely. hahahah /jk
I also hate UW anything (except Quaggan) but this is an interesting point about Rev. We’ll have to wait and see but I assume it will be a switch over with skills, so maybe a couple of purely UW spirits.
If you notice, there’s been less and less water combat as the game has progressed. What water combat there was before has been minimized.
I don’t think we’ll see much if any water combat in Magumma, and I bet rev’s will be sucktastic in water as they don’t seem all that strong on land from beta play.
