Unsustainable Amalgamated gemstone use
You realize you can actually craft the Orbs yourself using artificer, right? You realize you can craft the whole gemstone without relying on any RNG, right? RIGHT????
It literally takes 4 seconds to google something before posting

4 freaking seconds. Was it hard to do?

Well thank you for your oh so useful contribution, but it still takes RNG to get the base gems, to promote into orbs, and I’m not sure how many people have 1440192 T1 gems to promote to the required 2250 orbs…. If I wanted a toxic post, I would have posted in the PvP sub forum, so in future, use a little tact when replying to someone
You know that all the sub gems cost under 2 silver on the TP right? How’s that RNG?

Because that’s not how economics work. I’m not agreeing or disagreeing with the OPs stance here, but the line of logic you’re following is wrong. That supply of 2s sub gemstones is entirely produced through rng, it isn’t infinite and it isn’t static. If the sink is indeed too great for the faucets, that supply would dry up eventually, thus there would be a problem here.
By no means am I saying legendaries should be cheap or easy to get, just some of the items to craft them need some more reliable methods of coming into the economy
I’m not in favor of 2250 orbs/doubloons/crests either. I think its stupid to require 9 of each for just 1 amalgamted…
But that being said, Anet said they wanted this to be a legendary journey. They are not catering to people who want a legendary the day that it is available. They want to think that you will spend months and months grinding as a goal to get your legendary, hence the ridiculousness of some of the precursor crafting costs as well.
So yea, I don’t like how much it costs for just one component of the total legendary, but this is Anet afterall

A quick google search shows the following threads on the same topic:

The discussion is always the same:
- No one likes having to create these one at a time: minimum of 1,250 clicks (not counting moving stuff to inventory) just to combine 4 stacks in the forge.
- Some people think the price is too high; some people think the price is commensurate with components of the generation 1 legendaries.
- Some people think the ingredients should be more easily farmed; some think it’s ok to buy them on the TP.
- Some think that orb prizes are outrageous; some thing they were way too low previously.
tl;dr there’s only consensus on one element: that there’s little fun in making 250 of them. People go back and forth using variations of the same argument on all the other aspects.
no way, orbs were worth stuff all before amalgamated gemstones, dont nerf them -_-

Sorry, I don’t agree with what you think Anet’s motives are, if they wanted that they’d have made Legendaries BOA like Ascended, instead they allowed them to be sold to the very rich at the expense of everyone else.
As this thread points out, clearly the rate at which components spawn is controlled to provide for a certain Legendary production rate which is intended to create a certain price level, it’s nothing to do with a ‘legendary journey’ it’s all to do with a ‘legendary bank balance’.

A price level is irrelevant when the item in question cannot be sold, thus making its price relative to a set which can be is also irrelevant.

I’m not going to comment on RNG, but you realize you need 5 T5 dust to combine the lower level gems, right? And since you need 2,250 gems, that’s a total of 11,250 T5 dust you need. Or in other words, 45 stacks of Incandescent Dust.
Can’t most of us agree that maybe that’s a little bit excessive? It was definitely the worst experience I had in making Nevermore.
Guys, all the routinely dismissal and complaints about people complaining doesn’t change the fact that we have a problem here.
The price for the once valueless orbs, crests, doubloons and t6 dust have skyrocketed, making the gemstone step by far the most expensive. Looks like an over-correction to me.
Since there are already three exchangeable ingredient, why not mitigate the pressure by adding some more?
