Was not sure I could fit it all in the title what I am referring to specifically is the event in the ordnance corp chain in VB that has you go collect a bunch of airship salvage.
It can easily take 10-15m on this one event and even longer if just a few people at the event are not actually helping with the collection.
Possible solutions to this to me could be:
*Lower the amount of airship salvage needed
*Move the guy who we hand stuff in to up to where we get the salvage from
*Move the guy we hand stuff in to over to the jump mushroom and allow us to throw the salvage down like in that scar lane event in TD
Those are good ideas. I recently needed that meta chain completed for a legendary collection and remembered all over again why when I do VB that is my least chosen chain to work on. The salvage collection has been a problem from the beginning of HoT, mentioned frequently on these forums, and I think ANet folks have even mentioned awareness of the issue.
Just moving the guy likely isn’t enough of a fix, though, as the spawn of the salvage is super slow. Sure you can kill the frogs if they pick up salvage before you can get ahead of them to scoop it up, but they are massively hard to kill even for several players working together given their toughness, high HP, and frequent stun ability.
This event needs some serious tuning.

My thoughts on moving the guy were that if it was less distance to go to hand the salvage in it could be done by less people leaving more to focus on the frogs. Or if everyone was running the salvage they would be able to get back to the fight quicker if needed.
I remember when this event was simply balanced for the zerg. Regardless of if you had 1 or 20 people, it would take 50+, maybe 100 turn-ins. Normally, a collection event like this would be balanced for 5-10 per person. It only goes to show that HoT was intended to be zerged.
The problem with AFKers really needs to be fixed. I walked into the wurm fail yesterday in EB (daily) because ~10 people were AFK and only 1 was actually trying. It wasn’t always like this. Originally, if you weren’t participating, you wouldn’t be counted, but then season 1 popularized zerging and stuff was dying before it actually scaled, so it was changed to simply factor everyone. Surely they could make a hybrid of that, where everyone counted for the first minute, then it was based on participation.
I think they need to adjust the entire outpost events for ordinance. I’ve been trying to complete the achievement for days and there simply isn’t enough population or interest in the events. I guess Ill never get my mastery point for completing all outposts.

The whole chain isn’t much of a trouble to get done, is it? at least wasn’t for me when I last did it couple months ago… make sure you’re in a populated map… one last achievement I’m missing there, though, is the Ongoing Defense one which has you defend any one of the towers through a few waves of mobs… people always move on to the next event once the tower gets built and I can’t keep the big hylek from stomping down on it by myself.

I don’t think the event is all that hard to complete personally. But I caution you against comparing HoT several months ago vs HoT now. We now have 4 new maps since “several months ago” that players are spread out in. On top of several months worth of players who finished their VB achievements and won’t come back to the map because they don’t enjoy it. Over time the available population for events in these maps just shrinks. It just happens with “old” content.
