I have to play the game to get a lengedary? kitten it Anet what happened to “play how you want” ? I just want to play the whole exp. with a twilight!
This is just as valid as most of the 0/10 reviews that appeared less than 72 hours after the exp launch

If Legend of Zelda came out tomorrow, the usual
forum dwellers would go nuts about the need to
“grind” to get exp, new swords, new potions etc

Originally score there was mixed. Like 2-3 days ago people started bombing it with 0/10 and score went down to about 3.5ish. Then in less than a day a bunch of 10/10 started popping up. It is fanboys vs haters battleground now.

I love how that site was brigaded by reddit to force positive reviews from the fanboys.

Guess you didn’t see it a couple days ago, when the average score was like 3/10 because of all the buttmad kiddies giving 0 stars?

So all Reddit fan boys trying to manipulate the metric score are any better than these so called butt mad kids? There are some truths to both sides in the reviews!

Reddit fan boys? right because any who like the expansion and disagree with vocal minority are fan boys right? The fact is bad posts there can be downvoted to oblivion, while bad post on offical forum stays.

Pretty much. “Fan boy” is just another name calling tactic that uses rhetoric on the level of gradeschool kids to try and subvert anyone from feeling comfortable speaking up about anything they like about a game.

lol the same thing as calling anyone that disagrees with you point of view is a “level of gradeschool kids” and you try to subvert anyone who dislike likes something about the game.

Look the rhetoric works both ways, which was what I was pointing out!

People calling players giving bad reviews kids etc and you get mad because some said “fan boy” You can’t have it both ways!!

Like I said there are some truths to both sides in the reviews and you people should be more open minded then being blinded by your own personal view point on something. So really no need for anyone to attack anyone regardless which side of the line you stand on since no one side is any better then the other.

If I’d released a game, I would pay people (this includes employees) to vote 10 on metacritic all day every day.

Funny thing is, HoT rating went below 4, before ANet woke up in this matter. They missed the headstart in making HoT look awesome there, what poor planning.

Sometimes I think ANet should hire me, so I can tell them all the things they should know but obviously miss all the time.

Why would there be bug reports in a review?? And people have different opinions, ya know.

Also this Metacritic site has a pretty awful interface. Even editing is a bother.

No, not really. See, the difference is ‘fan boy’ criticizes by applying an identity (i.e. name calling), while my statement criticized an action (name calling).

Interesting fact about all the great 9/10, 10/10 reviews on metacritic, they are all “first reviews”. You can check it by clicking on the name of the reviewer just for curiosity.

I’ve been really enjoying the expansion. I hope you realize that other people can like different things than you OP.

I find HoT fun. And I like that Mastery is endgame progression. Players will take months to max it all. However, I suppose a good argument can be made for the fact that you have to play in the new maps to earn mastery points, which means less diversity. (HoT mastery I mean) I think they should simply have one mastery and have the bonuses tied to specific maps. I don’t want to feel like my desired progression stops cause I want to play with friends who don’t own HoT.

The expansion has some flaws, but it does so many things right imo. I couldn’t of expected any better. I’d give it a 9. However, opinions differ. Also, I do not work for A-Net. I work as a scientist, conducing research on environmental technologies, and help develop their processes. I simply enjoy gaming as a pass time. And HoT is far from boring so far. Lastly, I haven’t lost anything from this expansion. I sued to mostly pvp, now I stopped that for a short while to enjoy the story. At most, I had to wait an hour before continuing my story when I accidentally leveled the wrong mastery. But I’ve only gained from this expansion and it was totally worth the cost already.

Coming from games like Ragnorok, lineage, Ultima, WoW, any other mmo … This is no where near grind. HoT is actually fun, and well designed. VB is just the intro map to the jungle and more of a skill check than anything IMO. Once you get past it though, auric is easy like old maps, tangled is kind of a mindkitten but I like it since it fits it’s place, and Dragons Roost is just an epic map and will probably be where I go when I want to play long periods of time.

What level is your gliding Mastery, Nuhoc Mastery, and Itzel mastery? You are obviously lying if you said you have finished all of your Hero points.

And your mastery level is 10? What in the kitten world are you in playing? Level 10? There are people already at level 111

Here

I myself only play for 2 hours a day since and already at level 33 almost to 40 and that’s slow! You may want to revise your method of playing. If you want to achieve something, it’s ok to take 6 months to a year at your rate or you can do it right and be fast.

People were bombing the score with 0 and 1s and now people are flooding it with 9s and 10s to push the score up. About two days ago the score was about 3.9, and then in 12 hours it was flooded with so many high scores it jumped to 7.0. It’s a shame to see the score be so badly abused. It really gives people a bad impression of the community when they see so many fake reviews.

Obviously you and him/her didn’t my first post in this thread, and I didn’t miss his/her point.

SMH, internet net is full of comedians these days, people actually trying to defend its okay to call people on one side names but get mad at being called a fanboy on the other, pot meet kettle.

Sorry but there is no difference when some in this thread or on Reddit calling the people giving negative reviews kids, butt mas kids, qqers and other names is no different then calling someone a fan boy/girl.

@ someone that said it was not manipulation, you don’t need to make alt accounts to manipulate something. A reddit user asked other players to purposely give positive reviews is a from of manipulation.

NONE of the reviews given in the first few days should be taken seriously because NONE of them actually gave the game enough time to review. This isnt a single.player game where you can burn yhrough it in a day or 2 and give an accurate review. Ide say it should be about a month befor any serious reviews can be made

All those votes in the first few days were people that made up their minds on what they would rate it befor the expansion even launched. It was easy to predict this would happen just based off of all the unsubstantiated hate threads on the forums befor launch about stuff they were making assumptions on that weren’t even confirmed

Never trust any MMO review if it comes out earlier than two months after product launch, good or bad. Reviewers that got internal copies are playing things with accelerated characters, and often playing with content and systems that are radically altered in that time frame.

Honestly, if you rely on reviews and metacritic scores to determine whether to purchase entertainment content, you’re doing it wrong anyway. Reception of entertainment products is highly subjective. There are games, movies, or books that are pretty much unversally hates, but those offerings still have core groups of diehard fans.

If you’re not prepared to not like a piece of entertainment, you should probably not spend money on it. There is always a chance you’ll hate something with glowing reviews, or love something which is universally accepted as horrible.

If you can’t afford buying entertainment you may end up hating, you should probably be spending that money on something more important to your life.

Users that review the game five days after launch are still in the “honeymoon period” or the “adjustment to changes” period.

A good case here is the 400>250 hero points change., or the removal of itzel 4 requirement from the story. Those reviews people wrote yesterday are all completely invalid in many cases, even the vague ones.
