Vials Maize Balm Exploit(Halloween) 2014
Locked out of JP (Wintersday) 2015
-A pain in the kitten to navigate.
-Full of powerful and bothersome yet irrelevant mobs
-Required for hero points that are necessary yet a pain in the kitten to get.
i look forward to your thread about tangled depths
The most awesome map in the game, I wish I never had to leave.
I love VB. It’s probably my favorite map. Certainly the most polished of all the new maps. And yeah, if you dislike VB you are going to violently hate TD.

you are indeed correct, i despise maguma to such extent that i decided to burn my “Christmas money” on HearthStone pacs rather than upgrading account here.
I wander what are they going to do when in a couple of months people get fed up with maguma and the content required is essentially unsoloable.
VB and AB are probably the most loved map because the meta are easier to organize and more fluid , also these two maps are a bit easier to navigate.
I honestly don’t even bother to the other two maps TD and DS , TD on my opinion has been designed by a crack head with shouting monkeys on his brain …really !!!
DS is nice to do the event few times ….main problem there …..even if I get there when the map starts ……it’s now very hard to have full map and complete the event.
HoT on my opinion fails in have the nice meta-events fluidity that GW2 original offers , now became like a job …..YOU MUST schedule your time in order to succeed in meta events like TD and DS , most of the time YOU DEPENDING on other 100 players in order to progress the game , GW2 lost the freedom that had in vanilla , you could lvl up in many ways and don’t care to constantly watch the clock so you wont miss an event.
They should’ve build HoT in different way, leave hearts in VB , AB and TD so you can still lvling solo if you like , make the meta events in VB , AB and TD shorter and less people needed , leave DS as it is.
HoT is not a bad expansion , it’s just not designed for every one , and this is not gw2 manifesto.
Remember when Colin Johanson said in this video at 1:24 ?

WE JUST DON’T WANT PLAYERS IN GW2 TO GRIND …..yup HoT it’s all about having fun no frustrations , freedom of gameplay , and an expansion for casual and hardcore players , and most of all…..no grind is required……Colin…..stop trolling us lol .
Btw…..im still having a blast with this game …….I just don’t play anymore HoT and keep enjoying vanilla
At release i thought VB was a nightmare but after unlocking some masteries it becomes a lot easier to navigate.
Tangled Depths is the real nightmare, i hate that map, i really hate it.
VB is the absolute easiest map to get 100% due to:
1. Quick access to all places through gliding.
2. 80% of HP points are free, with trash mobs or no mob at all. Only tough one is Vampire Bat and Frog, which you can easily find people to help you do so.
3. There’s no “hard to reach” poi or vista.
4. It’s a small map if you exclude the sky.
I have all 9 classes finishing VB already for the ascended weapon collection.
Verdant Brink is… Not Fun.
So I haven’t done it.

I thought that too, but now I think DS is much easier to complete 100% (kind of) solo.
The only problem/challenge with DS is: You have to be on schedule at the right time to LFG to a probably good/full map. Everything else is (kind of) easy to solo.
After the three towers are finished, when the end-fight on the islands starts, you can go to the three towers (waypoints are open) to get the three HP without beeing disturbed by mobs etc.
After the mouth is defeated you can get the hero-point,vista, POI there and then you can run from other waypoints to get the other gated three hero-points etc.
Everything else is not gated or protected by bosses so you can do it solo everytime you want, but it helps if you avoid some groups ob mobs.

What DS annoys me the most is that 15 mins time limit to get everything done.
Often I have to do at least 2 times to get everything..
Don’t wanna waste an extra 2 hrs every time :/

I think the 15 minutes are Ok for map completion (of the gated items) and pod farming (and farming of the two pets for ranger) if you get used to the map and know where you have to go.
Of course, there is not enough time for also killing mobs, rezzing people, standing at the merchant, etc..

This made me laugh……..a lot. Thanks for that. :-)
VB can be a pain when those vine walls go up, but man is TD a nightmare.
-A pain in the kitten to navigate.

Irrelevant mobs, you say? One could argue that most MMO enemies are irrelevant. I mean, how relevant are the packs of moa that you run through in every other map. Or the Oakhearts, or heck, any mob that isn’t part of an event…
Sounds like TCGs are more your speed. I’d say your investment was sound.
TD is actually not that bad at all. I admit when I first entered I was like “WTF IS THIS?!!!” But having been there more often now and realizing how useful the nuhoch wallows are for getting around…I don’t really have many issues with it anymore. I still don’t like it as much as VB though.
Lmao op come to TD then talk
There seems to be a 99%+ consensus that TD is terrible.
I hope the person(s) responsible for designing it are getting some stern talking to by someone in charge.
Verdant brink was great though. Best gliding map, I wish the rest were more like it.
So, let me get this straight…
You want to fly to avoid all hard content and the first map is too hard for you… I hope it’s not too late for a refund.
BTW, I’m apparently in the minority who love TD.

TD is creative and nice.
The problem is the lack of events after Meta completion, in conjunction with a 2 hrs timer of boss, making this map abit lackluster after the Meta events are done.
The reward being lackluster is also one of the problems.
Map-wise, I love it.

… and once you have enough masteries almost none(possibly none but there is one area I haven’t figured out how to reach without a chopper) of the map is locked behind the meta
The only bright side to the expansion is that thanks to the pvp track and the fact that the raid door might as well be next to the first portal, once you get your hp and your waypoint to ds, you dont need to sep into general maguma again.
There seems to be a 99%+ consensus that TD is terrible.
Heh. Tangled Depths has some cool parts. The forums only reflect a portion of the playing base. They are not real time feedback on the game..

Same here mate. I bought myself Diablo 3 bundle rather than spending that money here and am having sooooooooo much fun. I logged in like 3 – 4 days ago to GW2, left after about 10 mins
Bored and waiting to see if they fix their errors for my money.
… so heavy in animations that the map runs slow on my pc.
Tangled Depths on the other hand is my favorite map of the new ones!
i look forward to your thread about tangled depths

Me too lmao!
VB can be a pain when those vine walls go up, but man is TD a nightmare.
I think you mean Auric Basin. Verdant Brink doesn’t have meta related vine walls blocking each section of the map (jungle).

What?! DS literally is the easiest Meta of the 4. Not only that but ur statement that the map is always empty is completely false. There is a thing known as the LFG that exists for you to find a filled map. It literally takes 45 min or less to complete DS.
VB can be a pain when those vine walls go up, but man is TD a nightmare.

You are correct, I meant AB.
very very Boring
-A pain in the kitten to navigate.
-Full of powerful and bothersome yet irrelevant mobs

I actually kind of like VB compared to TD. VB is at least navigable, TD is atrocious.
I love VB. It’s probably my favorite map. Certainly the most polished of all the new maps. And yeah, if you dislike VB you are going to violently hate TD.

I wonder what you’re going to do when you find out you’re mistaken. There are plenty of people who don’t like Maguuma. There are plenty of people who love it. By plenty I mean a lot. Enough to fill a zone certainly and that’s all you really need.
What people don’t seem to understand is that their opinion doesn’t mean everyone or even most people feel that way. My opinion certainly doesn’t mean it.
I prefer the expansion maps to the original maps, yes, even Tangled Depths. But I don’t prefer them all the time. When I want to relax, I go to lower level zones.
VB is the most glide-friendly map; having the advanced gliding mastery unlocked really does bring out its’ fun factor, with it, you are able to avoid much of the mobs, makes navigation a breeze.
If you’re having issues with the HoT starter map, it’s very likely that the other 3 maps would enrage u as much or even more. AB is infested with pocket raptors and rolling devils, irrelevant and annoying mobs that would down a careless adventurer in mere secs. Tangled depths truly leaves up to its’ name (it’s truly tangled), and much of Dragon’s Stand is locked behind the meta.
DS is the only tolerable map, yes its locked, but at least is straight forward. VB is not that bad, but the post was meant for the maguma region in general, terrible map design. The other 2 maps i dont even step on, rather get their currencies from the pvp track, there at least, the “mobs” that attack me matter.
One thing TD does seem to have over VB is actual usable waypoints.

Of course it took D3 how long to fix all of their problems? lol be fair mate
From an outsider’s perspective, it seems like the Maguma zone metas owe more to Teq and TT plus SW than anything else in core. In vanilla, Teq seems to usually attract a crowd, but TT — well, I’ve never been on a map that got it done. Meanwhile, the remaining world bosses and metas all seemed to attract a crowd.
However, HoT is the new thing. It would theoretically be for all players because Anet should want all players to play new content. Teq, TT and Sw are all old content. So are the world bosses. I’m sure some people are still doing them. However, how many who prefer the less complicated content are sick of it because it’s 3+ years old, but cannot find anything comparable in HoT? I wonder, at times whether ANet miscalculated or whether those players really don’t care that the Ulgoth the Modnir has been around for 1199 days.
I strongly agree on many points here, the mobs in Heart of Thorns.
-The Mobs on HoT are by far irritating to fight without the aide of others, especially the Trash mobs,
-as I’ve come to notice very few players are in the Maguma areas at all and often I see only a small handful doing the content, but it’s not nearly enough to succeed in the events that unfold at Night and even in the Day there. and sadly those that are around seem to often just avoid helping another out and run away.
-there is more but those are my prime concerns, in conclusion, I really think A-net should consider down sizing the mobs some in both strength and numbers to make the Expansion much more fun and enjoyable for all, I only hope they listen.

Hey peep, you’re just being thrown to a bad overflow, that’s all.
The population of Mag is still superior than the current vanilla GW2 maps.
Also, other than champs/ several HPs/group events, the whole jungle is easily soloable by all classes if you trait it right and play your class well.
Personally I love the mobs there. Most of them are damage stacked, so they’re fairly quick to kill but still dangerous.
the whole jungle is easily soloable by all classes if you trait it right and play your class well.
I think a lot of players would disgaree with you there, the majority of HP’s aren’t soloable and even if you do want to try it takes a while to make a real dent in the champion’s health bar on your own, plus the whole “play your class well” ….. you know what I’m not going to tug on that thread.
I think ANET have made the jungle feel dangerous, the sheer amount of mobs at every corner (which I think is way too much) and the absurd amount of damage they do can be quite annoying.
Like most here I find Verdent Brink the favourite map of the expansion, it has nice pacing and the depth of the map is great and I wished the other three maps were like that.
If you think Brink is bad, God help you when you get to Tangled Depths. . . .

Getting from point A to point B in TD is a major pain in the butt.
To me VB is somewhat OK, what I can’t stand about it is that the canopy is not accessible unless some events are done at certain times so all the helicopters are available and also, since it is the 1st HOT map in line it requires far too many masteries to access everything you need to access from it.
By the time I had the masteries to actually comfortably get to all the places I wanted to get to in VB, which is mainly hero points and some mastery points, I no longer needed to do so and was well pass that point in my personal progression. I know there are lots of other players like this as well from talking to guildies on TS.
The only map I actually like is AB, and DS only and exclusively for organized meta.
I have a deep actual hatred for TD and its designer(s). I play game for entertainment and as a hobby, I already do puzzles at work for 8-11 hours 5-6 days a week and this is just not what I am looking for in entertainment. To me this map defies the purpose of its own existance, which is to provide fun and entertainment, it not only fails at that but does the opposite, provides frustration.
To the person saying that forum does not represent everyone and that TD is actually a good map: You’re on crack, same as the guy/gal that designed it. The forum might not reflect it, but the amount of completed map metas vs other maps and the amount of actual players actually playing and returning to it repeatedly in the game sure do. And those speak for themselves. It might as well be a freagin empty map and for good reasons.
At least I speak perfect English in addition to my language, while you probably only knows one.
If map completion that takes 1.5 hr to complete, and requires you to do lots of non repetetive stuffs is grind to you, I don’t know what isn’t grind to you lol.
If you’re going to brag about “perfect” English, you might want to improve your grammar a bit first. “Knows” should be “know”, “stuffs” should be “stuff”, and “isn’t grind” should be “isn’t a grind”.
Hope that helps.
It is supposed to be like that if you do not have the masteries. Its part of the challenge.
You will see the point when you return with a different character after you finished the jungle with the first.
When you return you are like a master. I finished Vb within a day and going around like a boss. You go through the challenge and you actually feel you are getting better at it.

with some rebalance of ur build u can solo it. at begin i find impossible solo with classical zerk warrior, then i changed build, doesnt need even touch in gear or runes. With other classes like reaper is a complete cakewalk.
All HoT maps are horrible until you have been in them for an hour or two. But do remember, this is true for most maps in the game, the verticality just adds a bit more difficulty. VB is one of my favorite maps, but ti does start out as a major pain figureing it out. Just because its not instantly easy to you doe snot make it a bad map. Learn and adapt.
Auric Basin is probably my single most favorite map.
TD from a conceptual standpoint is definitely an interesting map, the problem where it falls flat is that it does what it does well. That is to be a tangled, confusing nightmare of mazes and mobs. It does that exceptionally well, which means, technically the map has succeeded. that does not stop me from hating it with a fiery passion of a thousand sons and hoping the designer OD’s on his obviously powerful drugs. Congrats Dev on an amazing map, I appreciate you from a design and imagination standpoint, and hate you from all other standpoints.

It’s like you’ve taken my thoughts and put them into words! From a guy that DESPISED mapping, dredgehaunt with the fiery passion of a thousand burning suns, tangled depths is like a black hole to my enjoyment.

The canopy is 100% accessible at all time with Advanced Gliding(except maybe Patriarch’s platform). Most of it is accessible all the time with just updraft.
