The main reason we chose the Lost Precipice guild hall as a guild is to glide. Most of us love gliding. Even before the event to take it, we were able to enter it and practice using updrafts to get around…training for the mission to take it.
The problem is, once you capture the hall, the updrafts no longer stay on. They have to be triggered. This is problematical, because it takes away our reason for choosing this guild hall in the first place.
Anet, please leave the updraft on. Or give us as a guild the option to leave them on.
They already know about this, but for some reason they decided it would be too much fun to give us. It may be connected to the fact, that the person that designed it prefers Gilded Hollow.

Some people here overreacting a bit? And yes, my guild also chose the Precipice, partly for the same reason. It’s inconvenient to activate the jump pads, but not the end of the world, or a real hindrance to gliding.

It is a great hindrance to gliding. On the original (capture event) map, you could glide from updraft to updraft, or use them when gliding from top locations to other places. After capture event ends, it turns into a poor man’s replacement for mushrooms – click, glide up and land. In a map that was clearly designed with those updrafts being active in mind.

There is no reason they should have to be manually activated, and it is a MASSIVE hindrance to gliding. No idea what game you are playing…
I would presume that they were disabled as to not set one gh too far apart from the other. By that notion if they enable them in one, they should also add them to the other. Or, add some balancing something to the other.

Well disabling them has set them apart.
How?
By making Gilded Hollow better.
Precisely. Not that the devs responsible care – especially since they have already admitted to preferring GH over LP.

I’d at least like to hear the reasoning. It seems that they actually put in extra work to make the Lost Precipice less good, which is weird.
Ideally, they should work on the same system as the Mordrem decorations (as in, they stay in the state they were last put in), but the next best option is pretty clearly to have them permanently on.

So I’m flying in the guild hall and other guldies are around. I’m about to hit an updraft and it vanished. I have no choice to to land to start up the thing again, because I didn’t start it up in the first place. That means I’m not actually gliding.
More to the point, this happens no where else in the game. Not in the open world. Not in the guild hall prior to capturing it.
It’s an unnecessary inconvenience, and I’m not sure that I’d have chosen this guild hall if I’d know this would happen beforehand.

Nether of these answered the question. How was Guilded Hollow made better?
Personally I have both. I love the sky in LP as well as the hyenas or jackals. They really give it vastly different feel from GH.
I’ll add my voice to the chorus. We were all a bit sad after claiming the hall when all the updrafts had disappeared. The temporary drafts on pads are a neat compromise, but a central master switch to alternate between “on demand” and “always on” updrafts would be ideal.

Seriously? If both are originally a 10, and 5 is taken away from one of them, what do you have?

It is more compact, and was not designed around those updrafts like Lost Precipice was. GH equivalent would be mushrooms – notice how those don’t get reduced in effectiveness after succesful capture.
Basically, at capture event GH = LP (barring personal tastes). After capture, only LP gets downgraded from its original state. And to top it, the downgrade doesn’t seem to have any purpose, it looks to be completely arbitrary.

Hm? Some of the mushrooms don’t even work. They bounce you but not high enough to actually go anywhere. They’re also miles away from everything and really don’t have much use.

I agree with the fact that taking out the updrafts takes out a source of fun of the map. I hope they change it because if the reason is GH has not a design fitting for updrafts it onle means they should add another thing speciall to GH to “compete”, and not taking the fun from the other map.
