We need a lot of grinding. We need things to work towards.

Legendary weapons in core game were perfect, as are ascended weapons and gear. You could take the time to build something masterful, or spend the time in SW to buy either or (for ascended everything but bloodstone, dragonite, and emperal shards)

Let me ask you players who say you don’t want any grind. Do you want to log in on day one, unlock all the legendary stuff, and then what? What would you do with nothing left to do?

We need more journeys in this game like the legendary weapons. Not silly time gated things like raids where it’s just once a week doing a fight, that’s boring old WoW style. I really hope they add as much as possible things that are a challenge, yet fun. SW did a perfect job in my opinion with the luminescent set, I was so happy when I unlocked every piece. A couple achievements though like wicked rodeo were kinda a pain though. But everything else was perfect. Your old methods are better then the new ones.

We need a lot of grinding. We need things to work towards.

They are two different things.

The luminescent set is great. Legendary weapons however not. They are nothing but a gold grind (mainly because of the precursor), unless you were really, REALLY lucky or tried your luck at the mystic toilet, potentially losing everything.

Also: “that’s boring old WoW style”. Yeah we better need more chest trains like in the Silverwastes. That’s real content! Who needs “hard content” anyway? lol /s

Yes… so tired of people using this word to mean “more work than I’m willing to put in.” Well guess what? If it’s not worth the effort to you, then you have decided not to get that reward.

Grinding for vanity/cosmetic stuff is fine. I like doing a certain amount of this, at a fairly leisurely pace. My only issue with current legendaries is the dependence on a wildly-RNG precurser, which is something they’re moving away from going forward.

Grinding for stuff that gives better stats, particularly if you’re going to balance content around the assumption that people have it, can go right back to WoW and die, thank you very much.

I don’t mind having long term goals that you need to work towards, there’s just a balance to be met. Some things are worthy of being long term goals, and some should come fairly quickly. And if they are long term, then you should be able to do a variety of things to progress them, not just a single track. Any time you’re stuck doing content that you do not enjoy in order to unlock something you want though, that’s where the game’s design has failed you.

I almost never agree with Ohoni (actually, I never agree with him/her), but in this case they are right. These 2 are not the same thing and you can have one without the other.

The term ‘grinding’ is used if you are obtaining currency with the main, and mistly the only goal, to obtain currency. I don’t want to spend my time in gw2 grinding. This does not mean that I want to unluck everything instantly; more like I want to have fun doing so. I explore the world, rather than farming a gift of exploration. I might go on a quest to make a special, powerful weapon, rather that getting gold for my precursor (HOT).
