Weapons should no longer be locked to the Elite Spec once the Elite Specialization Reward Track is completed. The reward track awards one with the exclusive weapon, armor piece, and new runes/sigils.

Players won’t be burdened with the requirement to take a trait line when wanting to equip a particular weapon. Elite Spec traits that affect their corresponding weapon should be amplified across the board in effect. The amplifications would include added weapon effects and reduced recharge of 20%. A good start of an added effect would be Dragonhunter’s Heavy Light trait which allows Longbow skills to knockback, or Reaper’s Soul Eater trait which adds life steal (although a minute amount) and recharge reduction.

Elemetalists are arguably forced to spec into Arcana and Water. If they chose Arcana and Water, wanted the benefits of the Warhorn but also wanted the benefits of the durability of Earth, they should be able to. The drawback of not taking the Tempest line would be overall loss of strong synergy. Even though the obvious synergy between the Tempest trait line and Warhorn isn’t quite there, a few changes would make the warhorn noticeably stronger when traited with Tempest.

  • Add a very short vigor (I’m talking 1s) to WH Air4 and/orWH Air5 to work in tandem with “Latent Stamina”
  • “Tempestuous Aria” should allow WH to grant might as well. Reduce the number of stacks from 2 to 1.
  • “Elemental Bastion”: Remove the frost aura proc and replace with: Warhorn skills grant an aura to yourself and nearby allies based on your attunement while below the health threshold.

Very rough ideas here, but I wanted to propose a quick something that might be reasonable and desirable. The current Reaper is a good example overall. GS provides consistent Chill and the Reaper trait line has traits that play off the chill condition. The benefits are unrestricted to the GS and can also be utilized with other weapons, but the weapon that results in the maximized efficient use of those traits is clear – it’s the greatsword.

Wouldn’t it be great to run around with a new weapon and your favourite set of trait lines without having to sacrifice that third Specialization? Comments are welcome!
