Hey everyone,
with all the specializations finally announced and bits of gameplay released tell me what 3 Specializations your most hyped for in HoT. Here are my Top 3:
1. Daredevil – In the past I’ve only dabbled in sPvP a on thief a little bit but with burst, mobility, utility, engage/disengage, and now 3 DODGES it’s hard not to give it a try.
2. Scrapper – Engineer has been my main class the last 6 months, so I’m obviously going to play it. For me the hammer is really the best part, finally a true melee bruiser playstyle for engi. The gyros are meh, they seem very situational and heavily pvp/wvw based along with the new trait line.
3. Chronomancer – I’ve had a lot of respect for people that play light professions but never really gave them a good try myself(except my 80 ele but that’s besides the point). I really like the concept of a time-mage and have heard generally good things about the gameplay, so I’ll give chronomancer a go.
Let me hear your Top 3!
(edited by Wambo.4701)
1. Herald – Simply for the boon spams, easy to manage energy and perma swiftness.
2. Reaper – It actually makes death shroud a worthwhile thing to use.
3. Scrapper – Cause the engi hammer looks crazy good. Ridiculous might stacks and a lot of passive heals.
Scrapper
Tempest (don’t hate)
Herald.
I actually enjoy playing tempest despite the salt poured over it from others.

1) Reaper – It’s my main enough said.

Reaper without doubt. It was fun during beta and I love horror themes.
Tempest just because it might yet compliment my ele. I’m staying open on to the idea
Chronomancer just for its originality

Hmm at this time i’d have to say;
1. Chronomancer
2. Druid
3. Daredevil
But both the herald and the scrapper are very close , they change position quite often

I main as a Warrior, and play a ton of Thief, but I have eight 80s. That being said, the only ‘elite’ specs even worth a respec are:
1. Chrono
2. Druid.
3. That’s it.
4. Anet you following?
1. Druid
2. Herald
3. chronomancer
I’m not counting herald, as it’s releasing simultaniously with the revenant, it may as well just be core.
1) Chronomancer. The design around it looks incredibly intricate, and it makes the mesmer’s shatter ability worth using in PvE while enhancing every facet of the class, in the beta weekend I played with power builds, condition builds, celestial builds, and during an open world even, even a healing build, and they all felt that they benefitted from the addition of chronomancy.
2) Reaper: There’s something viscerally appealing about the reaper. With cavalier stats, the reaper can wade into giant melees and do nearly as much damage as if they were running a glass build. It’s a very unique experience, and I actually found myself actively seeking out risks where I’m normally careful about what I commit to in the same way as I tend to play with a healing meditation guardian, but even more so due to also being practically immune to being spiked down as my guardian was able to be if I’m not careful.
3) Everything but druid: Daredevil’s unique mechanic was clunky, I didn’t pay much attention to berserker, and I missed the scrapper. The others felt as though they were outclassed too heavily by their core specialisations, but, I can just pretend they don’t exist.
4) Not only did it come across as completely one dimensional in their explanations of the trailer, but it sounds as though they’re actively undermining everyone else in order to make people like it.

I just think elite means more, it means better. That means the specialization should make the class significantly more intriguing to play. How many of the new specs can say this?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: ITheNormalPerson.9275
1) Druid
2) Druid
3) Druid
But seriously, probably
1) Druid – My main, I love staves, and I love being a healer!
2) Daredevil – Being super mobile and evading everything sounds super fun.
3) Herald, Dragonhunter, or Reaper – Kinda split down here, I’m not exactly one for alts anyways… That being said, Herald looks like a nice support spec, but at the same time, I don’t really like revenants profession mechanic, so I’m not sure if I’ll like it at all. Dragonhunter looks super cool and I love longbows, but I think i’ll only enjoy it if I can find a decent build for it that uses trapper runes. And I tossed Reaper on here because even though I’m not huge when it comes to playing a necro, I do enjoy it, and the Reaper skills do look REALLY well made.
1 – Chronomancer: I main a mesmer and I think chrono along with the druid its the coolest concept of all elite specs. The new elite skill is way too cool. The alacrity/quickness combo will make mesmers more useful in PVE. The only thing i don’t like is that we are getting another off-hand weapon for mesmer.
2 – Druid: having said that, obviously the number 2 goes to druid. I love the celestial form, I love the new pets, I love the trait line, and I hope the healing capabilities will be very appreciated with the coming expansion.
3 – Reaper: I love scythes, I love the chill that the reaper can proc. And the concept is very cool as well.
I have also considered the herald and scrapper but I think that they are step behind of those 3 mentioned before.

1) Scrapper
2) Herald
3) Chronomancer
1 – Chronomancer
2 – Herald
3 – Reaper
All the others look like they need lots of work still or I have a hard time seeing their stuff being extremely useful in the current PvE game.

In no particular order:
Chronomancer
Herald
Reaper (I may actually be excited, for the first time ever, to play Necro)
Midline:
Scrapper: Curious. My opinion may go up this weekend.
Daredevil: Opinion goes up if they fixed the clunky dodgeroll and leaps~
As for the others, not:
Dargonhurrdurr – Muddled and ineffective
Berserker – Roving fire field is nice, but it mostly left me unimpressed as a damage spec
Druid – Until Healing Power gets fixed, a healing spec isn’t going to be effective
Tempest – It was cute, but I wasn’t feeling unique or powerful with it.

1. Druid
2. Herald
3. Chronomancer
Top 3:
1.) Herald. Revenant took a little while to fully interest me, but now I’m at the point where I’m considering making it my new main. So versatile – there’s tons of ways to play it effectively and I really like that.
2.) Chronomancer. I believe that due to it being a class/spec they have wanted to add to the game for many years, and a concept that’s floated around the dev team for awhile, chrono just feels really well polished and fine-tuned, and it just feels smooth and fun to play, and suits the class so well.
3.) Reaper. I had moved away from interest in the necro about a year ago, but this spec really has me interested in necro again. I’ll definitely be rolling one this BWE.
Undecided:
1.) Druid. While I’ve played healers in other MMOs, and enjoy healing, in GW2 its place is very unclear at this point. Once we see the raid content and what it will require, I think we’ll have a better understanding of this. Until then, as much as I really do love healing, I’m not sure how this spec will fit into the bigger picture. I’ll definitely be trying it this BWE to test the skills and feel of it, though!
2.) Berserker. I feel very meh on this one. I enjoy playing my warrior now, but can’t quite get into this spec. Some of the enhanced burst skills are pretty cool, but I’m uncertain on the torch and the overall feel of it as a damage spec.
At this point, no way:
1.) Tempest. I’m just so sad for ele at the moment, to be honest. Those overload animations just make me want to cry. Recycled and/or ridiculous looking. I really wanted this spec to feel (and look!) much more imposing and strong. I think the changes (especially to Rebound) look promising, but I’m not feeling hopeful at this point.
2.) Dragonhunter. To me, it seems like this spec was created literally as a plot point – to support Braham picking up Eir’s bow to avenge her in the story. It doesn’t seem to support the core class at all, and it annoys me that I think it was developed for that purpose.

1. Chronomancer
Already a deep profession gets a new F5 allowing for even more play. So much potential for skill here now.
2. Reaper
Best theme of all professions. Looks awesome, plays awsome. All around fun.
3. Scrapper
I main an Engineer. Not too exited about this one however. The hammer looks great but the traits are too much PvP niched and the Gyros looks meh.

1. Druid- healing/pure support is my favorite playstyle, I like the pressure of needing to perform to keep the party alive. Looks like a good amount of active playstyle will remain.
2.chronomancer- thematically the best, most creative elite spec, as well as tying in perfectly with it’s base class.
3.reaper. just ridiculously awesome feel to it

My list keeps changing based on my current thought processes but at the moment:
1. Reaper – I have so many ideas for what I want to do with various builds.
2. Dragon Hunter – I know it won’t do everything I hoped it could do but it’s still going to be a great addition to my roster.
3. Either Druid or Herald – I can’t really pick which I’m more excited about, they both get so much fun-looking stuff.
Lol, no one wants to play daredevil.

Druid, but more to see if it’s going to be viable.
Lol, no one wants to play daredevil.
a couple of people said daredevil. youre reading comprehension requires attention.
1) Berserker
2) Reaper
3) All the rest
Lol, no one wants to play daredevil.
I’ve been told that it’s actually really nice, just so long as you don’t select any grandmaster trait.

Several people actually voted for Daredevil, putting a big reason as THREE DODGES!!!
But thief had 3 dodges a year ago… they literally destroyed Acrobatics trait line so that they could make the Daredevil a dodge build. S/D could dodge 3 times, pop a signet, dodge 3 more times. Daredevil can’t even dodge as well.

1) Druid
2) Herald
3) Reaper
Daredevil only need an adjust in the timing of the new dodges (so they actually happen when you input them, and not a second later), a few tweaks to the numbers and a better staff AA animation.
Aside from that, the spec is really good IMO. It has a proper “new spec mechanic” you can use every time (Unlike Scrapper, who uses his mechanic only if playing PvP, and even then not so frequently), a nice sinergy with some areas the Thief underutilize because of “stealth-stealth-stealth”, and some realy useful utilities, wich in the right hands could be even scary.

The new dodges are a fine idea, but 3 dodges is not a new mechanic, and the new dodges are the grandmaster trait choice, so there is hardly a “new spec mechanic”. Not to mention warriors deal damage on dodge and eles blast finish AND damage on dodge as grandmaster trait.

Warrior and ele dodge traits are not even in the same league as Daredevil ones. They are much weaker and the ele one has a cooldown.

my top 3
Daredevil (and even more so, if it would get the buffs it deserves to get on par with all the rest without its special mechanic hidden behind a grandmaster traitwall and acrobatics unnerfed, brought back to its old state, so that DD actually becomes a traitline with its own special stuff and not with butchered it acrobatics traits just to give DD a reason for existance, that an deserved buffs for D/D and a range increaser trait for shortbows/pistols would immediately skyrocked my hype for DD into infinity)
Reaper

1. Herald – actually useful
2. Reaper – for the fun factor
3.Druid – also useful
I am a thief main and don’t even play necro or ranger…
(Note: I also really like Druid, but there’s not enough space for him.)

I main mesmer, so Chronomancer is my #1, with reaper a very close second. Probably scrapper third. If we were also counting the revenant, as it is also new, revenant would be higher up than the scrapper. I am not that interested in Herald, but the revenant I absolutely love

Reaper-Necro main, plus this thing just feels like a near unstoppable killing machine, like if Jason and Freddy had a child….I’m gonna let you all just sit on that.
Dragonhunter-Despite the problems this spec still appeals to me by letting me be more offensive as a guardian…so yeah there is that. I also love the idea and theme behind it.
Druid- recently made a ranger and I enjoy the gameplay so far, base class needs some work but hopefully they’ll get it. Plus this is what I consider my reaper’s nemesis.
And the 3 that don’t appeal to me.
Berserker-warrior just never got off the ground for me, and while I like what it does, I think reaper does the whole unstoppable force schtick better and more interestingly.
Herald-yeah another boon bot, just what we needed more of in this game. And the recent changes to mallyx sorta dumbed down my rev hype.
Scrapper- LOVe the hammer, love the gyros, DONT love that they are spirit weapon type utilities, that’s just like a crappier version of necro minions. Plus the fact they degen health and can be targeted, yeah I don’t think they’ll see much use.

Scrapper (that hammer looks great)
Chronomancer (like how this specialization works plus 25% spd on minor trait)
