Guild Wars 2

First of all, thank you for listening and giving us a character slot. As a veteran player this was the one thing I was waiting for before I bought Heart of Thorns. While I wish the expansion was $40 (have to save as much money as I can right?) I was willing to pay anything within the $30 to $50 range. Now I do wish I could still get the character slot without pre-purchasing, but I’ll take this deal. I just feel a bit bad for my friends who may not pre-purchase. Hopefully I can try to convince them to pre-purchase.

Now to my main concern. A lot of the wording in the community address is vague to whether the expansion must be purchased from the Guild Wars 2 store or not to get these benefits. I have been wanting to purchase Heart of Thorns from a third-party vendor like Amazon or Best Buy so I could get a physical box. My question is, will I be able to order from them and still get the pre-purchase benefits and a character slot?

Or should I just send a message to support to ask this?

Why not do it through Anet? I think the pre-purchase is only offered as digital, so you don’t get the deal if you buy a physical box. I haven’t seen much about this though. Send that support ticket!

Well at least on the Heart of Thorns pre-purchase FAQ it says:
“Starting on June 23, 2015, you’ll be able to pre-purchase boxed and digital editions of Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns from our official retail partners.”

So I’m assuming you can pre-purchase through the official retail partners, which includes Best Buy and Gamestop. I was just hoping to use some gift cards I have around and also get the physical box. I like having boxes for my games, also makes it easier to reinstall the game in case my computer goes bonkers and I need to reformat or rebuild.

That’s why I was wondering if I was required to pre-purchase through Anet to get the bonuses and such.

There has not been any real info on the boxed version of the expansion so if you want the stuff Anet is offering if I was you I would get it from the official web site or the gem store so you have good pruff of purchase so there is no issues also this goes to everyone “SAVE ALL YOUR EMAILS AND KEYS”. There have been so many issues with third party purchases in this game that I would not risk it.
