I’ve been away from GW2 and these boards for several months. Last time I was around, I didn’t see enough to convince me to buy HoT and was unhappy about having to buy the original game over again just to buy the expansion. Not beating that dead horse any more, though. All I want now is feedback from those who’ve played in betas — how is it? Worth the price? Fun? I’ve loved the original GW, all its expansions, and GW2 and have been a player on day one of all. Usually I solo ‘cause that’s how I like to play.

So, convince me — and I mean that in a light-hearted way. I’m quite capable of making my own decisions, and merely want to hear your impressions, good and bad. Thank you very much!

…ask again after the last beta this weekend. This time we test raids and the last 2 specialisations. But so far (if you ask me) its pretty darn good.

I’m sorry if this comes across as rude but.. Posts like this are just lazy. If you want info, go to the wiki, go to the offical HoT site, go watch youtube videos of the betas etc.

Furthermore, no one can decide for you whether HoT is worth it, only you can.

There no need to anyone convice you to buy. If you like the game already, and trust on the work of the devs, its just go and buy.

Its what I made, and I don’t regret.

Yes, Diovid, you are correct; your post is rude. I already HAVE read the wiki, gone to the official site, watched videos, read extensively. How stupid do you think I am? I wanted personal stories, impressions, and feedback. I am not asking someone to decide FOR me about whether or not to buy HoT. Sheesh. I’m the one who decides that. If you can’t say something helpful, then there’s no need to post.

Basaltface (lol), thank you for your opinion that it’s good. What have you enjoyed most about it? MauricioCezar, have you played the betas?

I apologize. I guess I’ve become a bit jaded by posts of a certain type of people.. Though to be fair, even those personal stories and impressions can be found across the internet.

Personally I’ve played GW1 and GW2 so much that I think Anet deserves my money. Not only that but I expect HoT to entertain me for a long time to come. In terms of price/length of entertainment ratio I think HoT outcompetes pretty much everything else I would invest in. And that’s without even considering all updates coming after HoT’s release.

I’m excited for the character options.
The cleaned up talent spread works out pretty nicely, and elite specs are interesting for most classes. Most. Dargonhurrdurr is terrible.

I’m eager to see the new masteries. Sure, it’s “time gating” content, but I’ve never minded that. It keeps the locusts from complaining more than they already do. :P

But, the actual new zone, f* no. It’s Dry kittening Top all over again, except green and muddy instead of sepia toned. I’m hoping the mobility masteries make it tolerable. The mobs need some work. I’m about 60/40 on positive opinion of them as they stand, since ANet has fallen on their usual poor design tricks to make them “difficult.”

Many alts; handle it!

Yes, Diovid, you are correct; your post is rude.

Actually its YOUR posts that are rude. It’s not our job to convince you of anything. Last time I checked, none of us work for Arenanet and get a paycheck in the mail from them each week. None of us are are responsible for the furthering of your knowledge on the game. Making a post demanding the general player base “convince me to buy this” is arrogant and self important. Quite frankly none of us are in any way affected by whether or not you buy the game.

Let’s say your a big fan of chocolate, and a new movie comes out called vanilla. You ask us all how is it, but we’re all fans of vanilla, so we tell you we love it, not knowing or caring you like only chocolate.

You see the problem here? Only you can tell you what you like.

Diovid, thank you very much. I also apologize for my rude post in reply. There is no way, in a limited forum post, that you could tell what I’ve read and seen regarding HoT, and for all you know I’m a cretin who can’t decide what shoes to put on in the morning without someone telling me.

Also, saying “Convince me!” was said tongue-in-cheek and was perhaps a poor choice of words since some of you think I’m a brainless twit who is incapable of independent decisions. What I meant, and which several are unable to grasp, is that I wanted to hear others’ impressions, both good and bad, of HoT. As I said, I’ve been playing GW since the release day of the first base game.

DresdenAllblack, a chocolate lover could be swayed to the vanilla side if you explained why you love it so much. ;-)

P.S. I’ve changed the title of my thread since it was not taken in the spirit in which it was meant. Cheers!

If you are planning to continue playing guild wars 2, then yes it is worth it. If this game is just a lets play for a month then move on to never come back it wouldn’t be worth it. Some specializations are garbage but some are really good and fun so far. And hopefully the garbage ones get changed (crosses fingers) but even so its a lot of stuff considering these last 3 years we’ve only really had to pay the initial $50 for the game. I’m more then happy to support them a bit.

Thanks. I’ve been buying a few items in the store, gems, etc. but not a ton, and agree with you, Kronos, that supporting a game we love so much is a good idea.

Having been away from GW2 for a few months, I’m getting excited to get back into it now.
