I was searching for the crafting forums and found there are none any more. What happened?

I am really irritated over the silly time gate for something I already have all the mats for.

Just started looking into making an ascended sword for my Revenant and the special mats you need at least two of…one for hilt and other for glade, are time gated so you can only make one at a time.

Makes no sense if I already have all the mats to make this item. I do not understand why Anet has implemented this idiotic time gate. If you have the mats already why do you have to wait to make it?

Wow…that is sad. I used to use them a lot for information…its too bad they are not useful any longer.

The time gate creates an artificial market that benefits patient players at the cost of impatient ones: those willing to do their daily time-gated crafting can sell to those who aren’t willing to wait. These items remain consistently profitable, while lots of other crafting recipes are only profitable during market transitions or if you catch the wave.

My recommendation:

• Use custom buy offers to purchase the missing items, so you can finish crafting sooner.
• Start daily crafting of ascended mats.
• At some point, list some of those mats on the TP (using custom sell offers).

If you use custom offers carefully, you can end up with a slight profit (and at worst, a slight loss) and avoid the time gate — like eating my cake and having one for yourself, too. Plus, going forward, you’ll generally have a lot of extra mats, which you can use for your next item or sell to those less patient than you.

PS the posts that used to go into crafting forums usually go into ‘players helping players’ — the crafting forums didn’t get enough traffic to warrant keeping an extra folder.
