If you’re going to spend any time on the latest 2 maps, Ancient Magics: Propulsion is a good pick.
If you’re going to spend any time on the latest 2 maps, Ancient Magics: Propulsion is a good pick.
When you say the latest two maps, do you mean the newest little maps that came with the Living World episodes?
I just finished the story with Bloodstone Fen, though have a few more things to hit for map completion. Haven’t started on the next two story steps yet.
I’ll go for that next, thank you!

Bloodstone Fen uses Ancient Mastery Line 1 – that one is actually necessary for certain steps in a couple of subsequent chapters beyond that episode
Ember Bay brought in another line for Ancient Mastery which is inly useful for fast travel in that and subsequent maps
Bitterfrost brought in the 3rd Ancient Mastery line which focuses on a useful mechanic for (at this time) that map only.
If you have Ancient Mastery 1 done, then I;d go for Leyline next. Wallows is also useful if you do Gerent a lot in Tangled Depths. Poison help with a couple of hero points and map completion in HoT. The rest are non-essential.
Thanks, sounds like I should pick up those next two Ancient Mastery ones after I finish Ley Line. I already have Wallows and Poison (if it wasn’t clear, what I listed above were things I ‘completed’…except for Ley Line in Gliding, which I am currently working on).

Yeah, I meant the maps that were added with chapters 2 and 3 of the current living story season. Ember Bay and the Bitterfrost Frontier.
The Propulsion mastery can move you across the maps at enormous speeds. The mastery is actually required for map completion if you don’t want mesmer help.
So I finished up Ancient Magic (updated original post), but not really sure what would be the most useful to get now? I could just ‘open’ the next steps in categories I don’t have, but don’t buy them, just to move them along, and then save my last 20 points for maybe some new Ancient Magics they add to new Living Stories?
Basically just in the middle of the 3 Lores (Itzel, Nuhoch, Exalted).
Nuhoch Stealth Detection is a must have. It makes fighting a lot of HoT enemies much easier, and it also allows you to participate in the treasure mushroom events (needed for several collections, as well as the rare chance to get the invisible shoes). That’s the most important one left inn my opinion. From there, you can either save a few mastery points for the next ancient magics mastery (which, if it follows the pattern we have in the ancient magicks line already should cost no more than 5 mastery points), or work towards the masteries that let you fight the nuhoch/itzel/exalted champions (Nuhoch Proving, Itzel Leadership, Exalted Purification). Personally I would do that, as just going through LWS3 episode 4 should provide most of the mastery points needed for the next ancient magicks mastery
A sentence longer than 15 characters to say ‘Thank You’!
Itzel— Everything is good here
Exalted— Save this for last unless you’re going for the collections; might want Purification if you do AB meta a lot.
Nuhoch—Stealth Detection for Mushrooms, last 2 aren’t particularly important
for there you have been and there you will long to return.

Like Ori said, you don’t need to save MPs for the Ancient Magic track, every new map has added double or more the number of MPs needed for the that episode’s mastery.
For more MPs, have a look at this
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mastery_point_unlocks
There is 1 MP not listed there, for defeating Mayatl in VB.
