What is the official reasoning for Asc buff?

Hi, since I’m basically only playing WvW (not interested in Grinding, hence I bought this game since it was announced as completely no-grind on launch), I have ignored the Asc-Exo difference so far even though it was pretty annoying and always pretended that when I, as a roamer, got into a small scale fight, that if they have Asc gear it won’t matter that much and it’s still an almost fair fight..
However, with the new Buff to Asc gear I am not sure if I can still keep the facade up. However, I know that since Colin Johanson already lied once to us back then they will go through with this too no matter what, since he’s already gone back on his word, no big issue for him to make it a bit worse now.
So, just what I want to know is, what is the official reason that they thought the discrepancy between Exo and Asc needs to further increased?
Thanks in advance!
Look at the fiasco with the pre-purchase of HOT expansion, it’s pretty obviously you cant trust them.

I guess that people still complain about not having enough to do after level 80. BAM! you can all now go farming to equip your 15 alts with ascended armor. EAT THAT KITTENSUCKERS!

It’s the science of diminishing returns. With everyone receiving 30% more on their stats, asc without a change would be negligible. I’m not gonna run a bunch of numbers since I’m at work right now, but the marginal difference between the increase of ascended paired with the overall 30% Stat increase brings the total effectiveness up by <1%. That is to say, ascended is going to be closely related to an effective 6% difference than prior numbers.
You are completely wrong. Do the math.

Remember crit damage? Different pieces had different weights when you converted them to stat points. When they introduced ferocity, they normalized them.
They’re doing the same for ascended gear. Ascended isn’t actually becoming 10% better because it’s already mixed between ~5% (weapons/armor) and 10~14% (accessories). They’re simply normalizing that.
In total, ascended currently has ~7% more stats than exotics.

They probably want to make ascended gear more useful and satisfying to obtain. Having to spend your entire gold to get something you barely notice isn’t the most satisfying thing to do.
I have nothing against this change. I am against, however, how annoying and destructive ascended gear is to the core game philosophy, but this is something that can and should be fixed independently on how useless or useful its stats are.

Again, you’re wrong, since you’re ONLY factoring the stats. Factor in the +10% on armor rating and weapon damage, and you’ll get a much higher gap of base damage inflicted between exos and ascended.
I did the math, here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/Ascended-Armour-now-10-difference-Thoughts/5154873
As you can see, there’s a whopping +13% of damage inflicted on an exotic armor when using full ascended equip or exo armor/weapon (I used ascended trinkets for both since they’re easy to obtain).
Moreover, if a player with full ascended fights a player with exo wpn/armor, if they both have power as the primary stat, the disparity in damage inflicted PER HIT is +19.16% if the armors are both light, +19.59% if both are medium and +19.95% if both use heavy.
Of course, you can check the figures crossing (light vs medium etc.), but you’ll fall always around that +19% of damage inflicted per hit.
