Silver Waste and Dry Top was barely playable for me, because I have a computer built before 2010.

Is HOT going to require the same graphic and CPU capability as Silver Waste and Dry Top areas? If yes, then to my disappointment, I will have to wait for a new computer before I would even think about purchasing the expansion.

Please leave productive and helpful comments.

It is probably going to have higher requirements than SW or DT, given the multilayer nature of the jungle as well as the new weapon models/graphics

If you feel up to it and you got a pretty good computer then, it may be overclockable to give you ‘enough’ to play…

Do a lot of research first though, it’s pretty hard to damage the PC really.

My old pc had minor issues with SW/DT and found Verdant Brink unplayable due to the smoke until I turned the gfx down to the lowest.

You can play it just fine, but if you wish to participate in high resource events (large group of people) then expect a slowdown. 2010 is a long time in terms of technology but Anet tries to make their base requirements as low as possible.

Also, you can make use of the elite specs from HoT even in the old world. So while you may not be able to venture into it, you can make use of the new elites and skills in old tyria, spvp, and current wvw maps.
But that’s a steep purchase just to only use those till you upgrade the comp.
