I don’t need to say all of the problems condition damage has in this game, especially the balance between pvp and pve, and I feel its odd that after 2 years of no fix in sight, there is an expansion to the game and still no mention of a fix in sight. So even with new professions and specializations, there is still going to be direct damage for groups. Is there any fix or attempt in the works? Will conditions still not be viable?

I request a CDI for this!!! Maybe next expansion or we could see less of the usual if they progress from their most recent mobs.

Are there any more issues besides the 25 stack capping…?
I know you needn’t say, but please make an exception for me.

I don’t think this has anything to do with the expansion, as the issue affects the entire game. It’d have to be solved in a universal balance/engine update. They’ve been quiet about it, so it’s safe to say nothing is being done anytime soon.

Well if there are many other potentially returning players such as me who quit the game due to the massive shortcomings that have been here since Beta when it comes to build variety in PVE, then it has everything to do with the expansion from a financial perspective. This is supposed to be the “Big Sell” for getting people like me back into the game, and they’re already botching it by bringing so much attention to the game at a time when it’s least presentable to new players (between the NPE, Trait rework, and completely incoherent story if you missed LS Season 1). Trying to get my friends into the game right now is just an exercise in prolonged apologies, convoluted explanations of systems they don’t understand and I barely recognize, and promises that “It’ll get better!”

And while all those are forgivable, I’m holding off on throwing any more money at the game before seeing if ANET can at least decide to wake up and address a huge problem at the core of their mechanics.

Just because they aren’t revealing their inner dialogues doesn’t mean they aren’t discussing it. Don’t make assumptions.

When something has been broken for two years and largely ignored by devs, assuming it’s not going to be fixed anytime soon is a smart move. Yes, it’s possible they’ll fix conditions tomorrow. Is it likely? No.

I leveled my second ranger from 1 to 80 with a condition build and continue to play him this way. It is actually pretty good in the silverwastes (or oPvE in general) UNTIL you reach the breach/vinewrath, suddenly you are completely useless so what do I have to do? Change to zerker gear and equip different weapons. Would I be fine with that? Yeah sure IF we get an option to quickly switch between builds/gear. If we never get individual condition stacks the condition problem will never be solved.

Or you know what… Some could consider this as trolling…
Maybe just deleting +Pow +Prec +Fer gear would solve problem (in exchange offering wider array of +Pow +Prec +X and +Pow +Fer +X (honestly I was looking for something like +Pow.main + Prec +defensive Stat, and there are none, the closest one is zealot with healing power (least favourable option I think), and it is not even easy to get → as it is event stuff))…
Due to how these work, by multiplying their effectiveness (stacking these 3 at this same time gives relatively higher boost than stacking only 2).

It would remove zerk meta (as there wouldn’t be zerk gear anymore), and maybe give some space for condi builds…

Totally isn’t an assumption that nothing is being done. 2 years ago an ArenaNet poster posted that devs were aware of the issue and were kicking around ideas on how to deal with it. A few months ago Gaile posted that devs were aware of the issue and were kicking around ideas on how to deal with it. 2 years and they don’t even have an idea of how they want to fix it. Yeah, it’s safe to say that it’s not getting fixed anytime soon.

The infuriating thing is it isn’t even like this is a tiny issue, this is a glaringly bad design decision that should never have made it into the game period and after 2+ years nothing has been done. It not only makes conditions worthless is mass PvE, but makes a good deal of combo fields a detriment as well. Any other developer upon having 1 of their 2 major damage types broken in the game would have it fixed asap. It took Blizzard 2 years in WoW’s early days to expand the debuff limit to 40(they expanded to 16 a few months after launch) and 4 years before GW2 even launched they removed the limit completely. How does the technology and design somehow exist back then, but suddenly 6 years of huge tech upgrades and ArenaNet is stumped?

Removing the cap should fix most of not all issues I think.

Then again, could the solution really be that simple though? The fact Anet hasn’t done anything about conditions in this game makes me think the solution might not be as simple as it seems.

The problem with conditions on pve has never been zerk gears to begin with.
It goes deeper than that 25 stacks caused by engine limitation. The 25 stacks problem is just the tip of the ice berg.

Just for example, take 2 classes, white damage GS Warrior and condition bleed Shortbow Ranger.
GS Warrior usually investing 6/6/0/2/0 or any slight variation of that, on Arms early, there is Precise Strikes that cause bleed on crit hit. That GS warrior does not necessarily wearing zerk gear, you can use pvt for instance.
Shortbow Rangers heavily investing on Wilderness Survival, Carrion/Rabid gears, with tons of condition damage, bleed on that shortbow.
That Warrior’s (who does not necessarily a zerk geared) bleed will slow down the ranger’s Shortbow bleed due to queue and stack limitation. The warrior’s bleed isn’t optimized for condi and the ranger’s one is. Throw in whatever class you can think of into this and you’ll have one gigantic cluster poop.

PVE condition problem is chaotic one, to the point weapons, utility, skills, elite skills and traits inter classes causing problem on top of that 25 stacks. It’s one big gigantic utter mess and design flaw. Everything is stacking, queuing, overlapping.

It has never been about zerk gears.

It won’t solve it. The queue system on that stacking will still slow down condition damage user, for once, knowing a white damage user can easily give out not optimised condition just of their traits and weapons skill alone. Then there are condition optimized users queuing on top of each other. Kaboom slow.
They need to redesign how the entire conditions work entirely. There is a reason they still can’t fix this glaring issue till now. They can’t without major overhaul.

An expansion would be one of the best times to do a universal balance/engine update though. Usually that’s when you slate some of the biggest quality of life changes.

That’s not to say I’m assuming it will come, but I wouldn’t say it’s any safer to say it won’t, just because they haven’t said anything about it. A quality of life overhaul may be major, but you aren’t going to put “Made Condition Damage Work Right After 2 Years” in a trailer.

I’m not sure what all of the problems are though. I haven’t been on the forums much other than right now for the expansion and I don’t do any theorycrafting.
