When does HoT go live? [merged]
It hasn’t been announced.
when you get kick out of the server during the patch, you will know
it a good question btw.
Feed the Merlion… before the Merlion feed on YOU!
Any chance one of the Devs could answer this for us? Trying to get some guild stuff planned for it, but very hard to do when we arent sure when we all need to be there. Thank you in advance for any info. As stated above, im anxiously awaiting the release.
Perhaps they want to keep it hush to try avoid floodgates. Though it kinda stinks needing to sit and wait an entire day if it’s not announced. And I will.. I want to play Chronomancer, and start advancing Masteries, and do Adventures, and look at new skins and combinations I can do with those, and Guild Halls, and new WvW map, and sPvP Leagues, and Fractals to 100, and well, not right away, but preparing for Raids, and.. sensory overload of things to do.. help, can it be October 23rd now?
Seafarer’s Rest
I’m just gonna tell you right now you probably won’t be able to play it right when it launches anyway.
Expect a dozen hotfix patches and game breaking bugs for at least the first day or two.
Hush, Substance E, hush! Do not say such rational words!
Seafarer’s Rest
Is there any timestamp available on when HoT is going to be released on the 23rd?
Oct 23? at what time? When it’s ready? …
ty
At the time they deem everything is ready and patch waffles have been consumed
11 Days and counting!! That being said, would love to make plans for the actual launch. Do we get to start at midnight, or we waiting till say 2 in the afternoon like we have with betas? Need info!
Unknown to the anticipating populous of GuildWarsCommunityBerg, the maniacal governing company known as ArenaNet has developed a dastardly newsprint to be released upon the evening of October 22nd, 2015. The headlines for the news that day shall read thus:
Heart of Thorns canceled to due unexpected, unfixable bug in the software.
Few people will realize that this bug was no bug… but the root of all evil, Scarlet Briar.
For she placed her toenail clippings inside ArenaNet’s computers. And they keep growing after being clipped.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

It will be available sometime on the 23rd. Probably sometime between 9am PST and 5pm PST since those are the office hours of ANet.

Can we please get an official release timer on the HOT website?
I would like to plan my day around the time the Expansion launches.
Regards
ME :P
When You are planning to launch HoT, ANet? Early morning (GMT) 23rd or evening maybe? I ask because I don’t know if I should to take non-working day (officialy to care for my child )
Sorry if that question was already answered, but i can’t find anything on this forum (forum searcher must hate me).
Best regards,

HoT and Halloween will be available on Oct 23rd. They should release it sometime between 9am and 5pm since that is the regular office hours for ANet.
Lol I’m curious also hopefully it’s 12.01 am eastern time.
Should I prepare an all nighter for a midnight release?
Should I wake up early for a 6am release?
Should I take off work for a 9am release?
Should I cancel my Friday night out for a 7pm release?
Should I be disappointed that it actually releases 11:59pm on the 23rd?
Some players like your game and want to play it as soon as it releases.
We would appreciate if you could make it convenient for us to plan for that day ahead, by telling us what time(in timezone) we can expect HoT to be out.
Hype train is here, so excited.
It would also be greatly appreciated if we could download most of the files a few days ahead, so that everyone can go in and play on the 23rd, and not be stuck on 1KB/sec because everyone else is downloading the client too just like last patch.
IMO Midnight PST would be a good time. It will affect the least amount of players if there is any issues. It’s early morning EU 12-3am NA, this gives them at least a few hours to fix or patch any issues before EU hits prime time and a few more before NA hits prime time.
It may be inconvenient for the Anet staff but it’s a small price to pay compared to the rage if anything goes down during EU or NA prime on a Friday.
Probably around usual patch time I would guess. Gibe them some time to squash an last minute bugs.
I’ll be joining the party. Wife has just ordered HoT of Amazon.co.uk, so. The wait begins.

Don’t stress. Go and play Halloween. Start HoT a week later when all the bugs have been flattened. That’s what I’m doing.
You will still have to download the patch to play, whether it’s Halloween or HoT.

Any infos to specific time?
I want to know if it’s needed to take a free day from work or not^^
Thx =)
I haven’t heard a specific time mentioned, but I’d guess Noon pacific (3pm est) that friday?
Gives them time to get into the office, and get things organized/prepped before flipping the switch. It’s been a popular start time for stuff for them.
There is absolutely no evidence to support that it would.” -AnthonyOrdon

Yeah, I thought about this…but I hope, ANET is sooooo hyped for release, that they set the start time at 00:00 (is it PST?) XD….
Noon pacific (3pm est) that friday?
Which would be 1pm (4pm edt) that particular Friday, considering that clocks aren’t moved back to Standard Time until a little over a week later?
(is it PST?)
On that day, PDT.
There’s nothing quite as exciting as a midnight launch, so 12 GMT please!

EST EDT whatever :P

Heh, that’s why I always spell it out as “Eastern” because that applies year round!
As to the time it will launch, it would indeed be nice to know. However, bear in mind that odds are against it being stable and playable immediately after it goes live. Even though ANet has been patching it to us for some time and hopefully will deploy the final big hunks of build in the week leading up to launch, tremendous numbers of people will be trying to get in game the moment it’s up. That by itself will slow things down, both patching and logging in (the log in servers may be toast). And then some losers may also think it’s fun to attack the process because the world has enough pathetic numb-brains in it that someone’s likely to be stupid.
So while ANet is better than most at providing smooth entry to their game, a number of things beyond their control may make things rocky for at least the first few hours.
It will be sometime between 9am PST and 5pm PST. Those are the regular office hours for ANet.
On the 23rd? That’s 4pm – 12pm GMT, so we almost get it a day late?

Normally the time for the holiday stuff to drop is at Noon PST. It’s been that way since almost the start of the first GW. And normally they have specified the time.
BUT since they are dropping an expansion at the same time they have not said the exact time so therefore a guess of sometime between 9am PST and 5pm PST is close to what it will be.
Any specific time anyone (besides ANet themselves) gives is just a guess and only a guess.

So in other words, between 10am PDT and 6pm PDT.
It could be at midnight Pacific Thursday. Or near midnight Pacific Friday. And whatever time they announce, it could still come out earlier. Early access in 2012 opened 3 hours ahead of time, though they did keep us well informed that day that they intended to try doing that, and so lots of people were revved up and ready for when it started (me included — midnight was SO much better than 3 am as a start time for me! I grabbed all the names I wanted and then settled in to play).
Since all they’ve said is “October 23,” all we can be sure of so far is that it will be October 23 in the Pacific time zone when they flip the switch. Any narrower time windows are pure speculation. I’m sure ANet will give a heads up closer to launch as to when to expect it. They can’t ask us to camp out for 12 hours at the computer. Also they’ve told us to trigger guild buffs before launch since they will be disabled afterwards but already triggered ones will finish their time before the buffs are gone. It wouldn’t be fair to leave people guessing when in a 12 hour time frame to trigger those.
I would think just in time, for the first week of wvw in HOT, to need to be patched about 5-6 times.
On your marks get set go!!
No im just kidding everyone out.
Ok for real this time, go, go, go!!
Oppps. Hold on a second….

^^ This. This is exactly how I think it will be. And given the variability of everyone’s download time as well…. probably best if we don’t get too precious about it.
Of course there will be some people ranting with patch-rage all over the forum.. but none of us really want to be that person, do we!
They’re not going to give us an exact time. No point asking for that. It will be put in when its ready and when the major known bugs are fixed. If they can drop it early they will, if not they won’t. Compose your soul to patience.
ANet may give it to you.
Guild Wars 2 went live at Midnight. Most special events went live at 9a.m. or later then averaged going live at noon. In gw1 special events go live at noon.
My predictions are:
- HoT & Shadow of the Mad King go live at Noon on Oct 23rd. (Take the plunge!)
- Shadow of the Mad King goes live at Noon Oct 23rd and HoT at Midnight. (toss in some entertainment for those last few hours of development)
- HoT & Shadow of the Mad King go live at midnight Oct 23rd. (LOL lets see who’s dedicated!)

Simple question. Will it be midnight Pacific? Or noon? Or some other time?
It should be sometime between 9am PST and 5pm PST as those are the normal business hours for where ANet’s offices are at.
On October 23 at 12:01 AM Pacific Time (UTC-7), Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns will go live!
They finally released a time!!
That’s pretty early in the morning, on a Friday.
00:00 Pacific time
03:00 Eastern time
07:00 UTC
08:00 United Kingdom
09:00 Central Europe
10:00 Moscow
15:00 Beijing
18:00 Australia
Well, can’t say they are catering to just Americans this time…lol. Looks like Australians hit the jackpot for this. =)
Anyone know what time on the 23rd the game will be active?
( so you can start the down load of it )
Thanks in adavnce
Why not check the Final Countdown blog in today’s news, or any of the Final Countdown threads in this and the main discussion forum?
Livestream champagne toast as they flip the switch just after midnight Thursday Pacific.
Patching may well be before that, possibly even this Tuesday.
12:01 AM Pacific Time on the 23rd. This is a good time for it to start since it will not be peak population time.
