When we make beta characters
Once deleted, the character’s name is ‘saved’ for 24 hours only. If you wish to reserve a name for an upcoming HoT character, you would be best served by creating a non-beta character, and then deleting it right before launch.
Good luck.

I would actually wait until you go in game to make the actual HOT character with that name before deleting it.

I have my rev name reserved on a storage character.

How can you do that? You can’t have 2 chars with the same name. The placeholder char will have to be deleted first.
ANet may give it to you.

I think they meant to wait until after launch, then deleting your temporary character right before you make your real character. ^^;

No doubt that’s it, though it sounded like he was talking about going in to make the char (in character selection) when he said to go in game to make the actual HoT char then deleting the other, which isn’t possible.

LadySuccubus is right. I know two characters can’t have the same name.
PS, I’m a she, but given the genre of this game, I’m not upset by the wrong assumption as MMO’s are typically seen as a game men play.

I’m a she also and I don’t (normally) bother to point this out when people call me he.
I’m quite aware that females play, but the wording in English gets too clumsy when you start typing ‘he or she’ each time that ‘he’ will do. If they ever get a gender neutral word, we can use that. Until then most people are going to use ‘he’ by default and it doesn’t assign a gender.
ANet may give it to you.

If I had never seen you around the forums or if I rarely posted, I likely wouldn’t have corrected you as it would have been pointless. But since I’ve seen you posting regularly and I post more than rarely I figured it was worth pointing out since we’ll likely post in the same thread again in the future.
I personally tend to use the improper use of “they” if I’m unsure.

Wow. I was sure off-base on that all this time! My apologies.

What are you apologizing for?
ANet may give it to you.
My off-base assumption, of course! =) All these years…from AP to JAFW.

If I use he, it’s because I was taught as a child that he is gender neutral and the appropriate word to use for people of both sexes in general conversation and writing. This was enforced all the years I went to school and for many years past that. Old habits die hard at my age. I may occasionally use they, or I may not.
I get called he all the time in the forum, but don’t point it out as it’s truly irrelevant to the other person. They don’t care if you are he, she or somewhere in between.

I’ve always assumed you to be female, though I don’t know if I’m right or not. ^^
