You can only preorder the expansion with the core game, where’s the preorder for expansion only? I don’t want to buy the core game again.

If they’re only selling this as a game+exp package, there really should be a discount on it for existing players.

I somehow doubt they are viewing this as giving away the core game for free to new customers. So that essentially means we’re all paying for something we don’t need.

That’s probably true, but the easy way out would be to claim it’s a free gift/add-on.

But no matter what they say or try to claim, this is a really crappy move for existing players.

Yep…what is going on? The exp preorder should have been announced right along with all the other version that include the base game. Especially if you spam in-game with a flashy icon to get people to click on it.

Most likely the Expansion Only option will appear once Heart of Thorns releases. My guess at least. I’ll be waiting for an expansion only option, too.

Because this BS? This is starting to look like a very good moment to quit this game for good.

After seeing the expansion during the most recent beta, and knowing the bugs that have persisted in open world content since beta, I feel even worse about the pricing and the lack of an xpack-only option.

I feel foolish for ever playing this game.

I agree. I have 3 accounts and won’t be paying $150 to get 3 more core games that I already have paid for just to be able to buy the expansion.

There should be a separate pricing and packaging for existing players like $29.99 for standard expansion only, $54.99 for Deluxe expansion only, and $79.99 for Ultimate expansion only ..the core game is roughly around $20 these days…so $20 off each pkg for existing players with core game sounds fair.

I would actually think about the deluxe edition for that price. So I will not be pre-ordering because I feel it would be paying for the game I have already just so I could get expansion.

WoW actually gave you the ability to completely skip out on owning ANY of that content if you didn’t want it by giving you the 90 Boost. This is just bad business.

Industry standard. All the titles are rolled into a single game. You don’t get a new copy of the game. You get a free upgrade. Upgrading to MoP, which gives all previous expansions and vanilla, when you only have Catalysm doesn’t literally give you new game copies. That’s not how any of this works at all.

You’re right, instead they forced you to buy hundreds of dollars of previous titles in order to play the current expansion, all of which were fully priced titles in their own right as HoT is. Compare that to GW2, where a new player only has to buy one title, since all previous games are rolled into one.
