Where's the New Legendary Weapons?
Next group will probably contain shortbow and mace. Unfortunately very few classes use those weapon types.

I though they said shortbow and mace were the least advanced?
No, they said those were the furthest along in the design process.
Regular intervals? If we’re to take that literally and they do them in groups of 3 we’ll be well into 2018 before they’ve all been released.

Where did they say this? I’d love to read up on any dev posts. Unless they didn’t say anything and you’re just speculating :P

The first set of legenaries-via-collection included some bugs, especially event-related issues. ANet decided to fix those issues for the upcoming legendaries before launching them. The team addressing those issues and the team developing the new skins|collections aren’t the same, so there’s a backlog.
They are likely also reconsidering some of the material requirements, in light of some of the more extreme market shifts we saw.
My bet is that the ‘interval’ between future legendary sets will be shorter than ANet originally planned.
That won’t make up for frustration we have in waiting this long.
On the plus side, this means that prices for various materials have been steadily dropping, since the demand is no longer as extreme as it was when HoT launched. Take advantage of this by preparing now — we know that we’re going to need all sorts of logs & ore plus orbs|crests|etc plus… etc.
Yeah needing like 2250 of those orbs/crests at 28 silver each sure hits your wallet. Imagine if they went up to 40 silver with the next batch.
Hot began in october 2015, and you have introduced 3 new legendaries. I remember you told “the others legendaries will be introduced step by step”.
We are in march and 0 news concerning legendaries or others. If you take a year for. 3 legendaries we can wait a long long time.
If it´s possible try to communicate your plan guys. Actually we just listen pvp adjustment schedule… Where is the pve/mcm plan?
And please for god, stop balance this game through pvp, think also about pve and mcm.

The AMA (Ask Me Anything) they had a few days back answered some questions on various topics.
Link to reddit summary. The summary has links to quotes.
Missed the AMA? Here’s a summary
ANet may give it to you.
I think i will have to wait a looong time for a new legendary longbow,..which from my point of view is the most needed one! Not because I main DH,..but because the old one is ugly as *.

In short, it will be ready when it’s ready.
Shortbow and mace most ready now.

Regular intervals do not mean equal intervals but I’d guess they’ll be released up to the point where they have xpac2 announced. They’ll release them when they are ready.
You may want to call it WvW instead of MCM so everybody knows what you’re talking about.
My guess is that they either wait with releases because the Ascended mats are expensive as it is and they want the market to cool off a bit (seeing how the ‘balanced’ the Pre collections around the market values of the legendaries – debatable in its usefulness) or the developers need more time to get the collections together, seeing how they have no idea how the game works (evident by the desaster that was the existing ones, being tied to failures of events because apparently the people responsible didn’t know those events only spawn on fails).

Actually, it does. Unless this is another one of these expressions that lost their meaning because people don’t care about their language.

This ^^^.
That said, regular intervals does not necessarily mean frequent intervals. One per leap year would be a regular interval release schedule.
It could be regular intervals one the next set releases. Maybe a set with each quarterly update. Who knows….
I’m assuming they’ll pick up pace. There were some wrinkles with the first batch that shouldn’t be happening with later ones. Or so one would hope.
Three per decade, three per century or three per million years would all also be regular.
There are instances where it doesn’t mean equal, with three per decade the first three may end up coming in the first year. During the second decade it could be year 8, third year 4. They are still regular compared to the stated time frame.
Yes, it’s stretching it, but politicians and scientists often do the same.

Regular, but not talking about intervals.

No, it’s just plain wrong.
Scientists especially would absolutely never misuse the word interval, unless they’re really bad scientists.
PvE plan live and kicking, second wing of Raid is out. More ‘when it’s ready’
WvW plan dead, effectively they planned so big it became impossible to deliver. they presently trying to design a new WvW plan. Hey, if you fail big this time you can always fail bigger next time! – I hope not.
WvW IS NOT PvE, it is large scale PvP

This is the reason I am holding on building a Gen 2 legendary. ANet talked about making legendary weapons easier to get but the Gen 2 cost way more. I hope ANet will knock a zero off to bring these in line with Gen 1. Looking at trading post values, the orbs/crests have gone up nearly 10x since HoT launch.
Shortbow and mace…yeey….nobody use those. So 9 months until next…nice.

In less than a minute, I found at least two builds on meta battle (metabattle.com) for shortbow and mace. In fact, the build I’m using now for my warrior uses a mace in the offhand and it’s a pretty popular build. Shortbows are more useful now on something like a ranger than they used to be, because condition damage is a thing now, and years ago it wasn’t. Not in PvE anyway. And of course, many thieves use shortbows while running from place to place for the mobility. Not to mention tagging lots of mobs in events.
As for the length of time between weapons, I suspect we’ll start getting the regularly with each quarterly patch. Just a guess, but it makes sense.
