Which Mastery will u master first?
Lore and Exploration grab me the most of the provided list, but I note they say “here are some examples” so there may be more than those.
I will definitely take Master Legends first too.
Hang Gliding for my Heart of Maguuma, whatever the track is for Tooth of Frostfang for my core GW2.
Hang gliding. It’s too much fun to fly.
Bring back: ‘Gamer’ title + MAT’s!
Throw out: Hotjoin!
i’ll pump so much time into hang gliding it won’t be even funny.
seriously, i’ll probably ignore everything that isn’t in the critical path of “more gliding time, MOOOOORE”
then again, i’m quickly reaching the critical point of legendary building. hell, i’m just a few hundred gold short of being able to buy the precursor, and i have the investments to make that money. i’ll see how the new thief legendaries look like, and if none appeal to me (again), i’ll finally make kudzu for my ranger.

The exploration masteries seem like they’re almost going to be required to access a lot of things in HoT (I’m sure the core story might not require it, but if you want to actually explore the areas, then…), and since I’ll probably be jumping headfirst into HoT exploration I’ll probably go for that first, at least until I can get the basic hang glider ability and maybe the basic mushroom jump.
Lore ones also sound pretty interesting. I love me some bonus unlocks, especially since I think somewhere (maybe the IGN article?) it mentioned unlocks for weapons and armor.
Legendaries will probably be the last thing I bother with. Right now, there isn’t a single legendary that’s cool enough to entice me into putting in all the work to get it (namely map completion since I don’t do WvW), and I kind of doubt there will be one introduced in HoT either. Not that all the legendaries are horrible or anything, there are a few I like, but I have to really, really, REALLY love it to put in all that work. I couldn’t care less about the “prestige” of having a legend, only how nice the skin is.
Well, OK, I don’t do Fractals at all so I suppose that would be the last thing I’d bother with.
It’ll also depend on which Masteries tie to which Areas, though. Right now, its sounding like the only things which apply to the “original” GW2 content would be Legendaries or Fractals (MAYBE combat), and if that’s the case then I guess I’ll be working towards Legendaries just by process of elimination when I’m not in the Jungle.
Given my main is a priory member, whom I usually imagine trolling around the library looking at books between living story patches, Lore and Exploration seem the right course RP wise
Lore > Legends > Combat > Exploration > Fractals is the order I’m going in. (Assuming you can eventually master them all!) If the new legendaries are not to my liking, I’ll save that for last.
I’ll probably dabble in all of them even fractals despite the fact that i never really go in there. most likely, ill pick some combat/exploration stuff first followed by a legendary long bow (old or new, w/e i like more)
Gates Of Madness
Jewelcrafting to 500!
Given that I’ve fallen off high points so much I look more like a pancake than anything else, I’ll be going with hang glider.
Master Fractals, Master of Combat, Master Exploration, Master Lore, Master Legend in that order.
Unless there is a new legendary with an absolutely kick kitten skin, it’s all about the fights
HaHa… lets not pretend that everyone and their mother won’t be going for the hang glider first. :-)
All seem tempting honestly still undecided….but as Azrael said, if any of the new legendaries really makes my jaw drop, i might choose legend first.
I’m with Torsailr.8456 I suck at jumping, so hang gliding , then lore, then fighting.
1)Lore
2) Exploration / Combat as needed to progress in the zone
The others are a luxury.
I’ll go for a mix of lore, exploration, gliding and combat. Legendaries are nice and all, but given that I have a nice array of ascended gear and skins I really like, they are far from being my priority.
I wouldn’t be surprised if you need some exploration and gliding to get to the special components for precursor-crafting.
Looks like combat and exploration will be required just to beat the zone stories. So probably those first…
Lore and Legends seem like they will be the fun ones, so those next.
Well, first I will go for whatever mastery is useful while exploring the Expansion.
Then we will see.
Can I make Money from Legendary mastery or will those all be accountbound? If a moneymaker perhaps, otherwise save for later…
Lore > Explore > Combat
.. Legends will be last…
Archeage = Farmville with PK
Probably
Explore > Legendary
They said that some masteries could only be leveled in certain places… Exploration/Gliding would probably the one that can only be earned in the jungle, and giving that’s where i will be when the expansion hits, it will probably be the first.
I will first master the willpower to ignore this expansion. All I see is content gating and gear score in the guise of “mastery”. I’m not telling you what to do, but I’ll be steering clear of this.

Hang gliding. Absolutely necessary for me in an tiered environment like that. Otherwise, there are going to be a lot of falls with sudden stops.

it’s too soon for me to know, even given the few examples we have. It all sounds so exciting.
However, I think I’d end up picking fractals of all things first.
1)Lore
2) Exploration / Combat as needed to progress in the zone
The others are a luxury.
This is how I see it also.
im into the lore one, but i will master the most usefull first (wich i think it will be the combat one, or exploratory one)
Exploration and Combat, that’s the first pick.
Second? We’ll see bout those new Legendaries.

I’m more jack of all trades master of nothing.
1. Lore, to get access to special vendors (new armors maybe?)
2. Explore, got to get to the special places, you know.
3. Combat, I need to survive in these special places
4. Fractals, I love new adventures
5. Legendary, if it is “only” for weapons, that I have no rush. If We get much more options than it will be another thing (i like my crafting, even though the costs are high and I generally have no gold :p )
I tthink i will start with Lore. I love exploring new civilizations. But a hunting travel to get a precursor sound epic too. Too many things to get and maybe more in the future . I dont know where i can start.
Lore > Exploration > Combat > Fractals > Legends for me.
I’m probably going to try to quickly finish the one that allows me to tear off my enemies’ defenses (like hard bark) so I can give them the full taste of my fury and rage. I have lots of 20k Eviscerates to hand out, and they deserve the full deal! No discounts for them! Why short change my foes with only 10k Eviscerates? That’s not good enough. A full 20k!
heh now that i think about it i might master exploration too. Legendaries are all for looks anyways. :P
Probably legends. 5096+ hours played and never had a precursor, so I want to be able to craft my own because I want to give RNG the finger (for one last time).
Never cared about lore or fractals. I’ll move onto other masteries that help me navigate the world, give me decent money, or help me in combat.
Exploration / Combat first
It’s what makes sense to begin with. How do you guys imagine to progress through the expansion if you start out with going after the precursors oO?
(edited by jokke.6239)
Quaggan Form allowing me to explore GW2’s vast underwater content like never before.
Something combat/exploration related since precursor crafting will probably take more time than just farming gold for it.
Probably work towards the precursor, leaf if kudzu, and then lore, then hang gliding.
Ceara Bramble 80 sylvari engineer.
Freyr Treewalker 80 sylvari ranger.
Whichever ones I find I need to progress while playing, same as any other game where there is a leveling choice. Unless there is an amazing must have new legendary skin, then some points will have to go into that.
Lore masterys first most definitely (although i will at least start the hang gliding one so i can give that a go. the sooner i can get to the point where i unlock those collections, the sooner i can start working on them. next one to master after that will be precursor crafting, same reason
I will first master the willpower to ignore this expansion. All I see is content gating and gear score in the guise of “mastery”. I’m not telling you what to do, but I’ll be steering clear of this.
what do you expect, its a paid expansion of course its going to be gated. if i were you i wouldnt go making sweeping statements about how you’re going to steer clear whether you are trolling or not because i suspect if you like this game at all you will end up getting it and have to eat your words.
Sandwich making on my Sandwichmancer Ele specialization.
I’m going to min-max my time/effort. Meaning that I don’t know yet which masteries I’m going to do first until I’ve figured out the fastest way to max-out all my masteries and get the most profit/loot/skins in the shortest amount of time.
Combat>Exploration>Lore>>>Legends>Fractals
Combat: if there are special skills to tear bark off enemies that work like defenses in the mass effect series (two layers of enemy HP, where you have special skills that can reduce the outer layer fast, but normal attacks work against both), then combat because that system was fun.
Exploration: more places to visit! and less frustration maybe from falling off canopy.
Lore: more storytelling?
Legends/Fractals: only when I’ve maxed the other 3. The precursor weapons themselves might look nice.
Depends on the character. For some reason I am currently favoring my sylvari necro, even though he’s my most recent 80 and has not completed the PS or LS2 or even set foot in Dry Top or the Silverwastes and quite possibly never will. I think I’ll just pretend he’s done all that. And I’m thinking Lore for him. Maybe he can be an unofficial goodwill ambassador. “Hi. Unlike most of my brothers and sisters, I’m not currently an actively participating dragon minion. I seem to be immune, in fact, to the influence of the jungle dragon. I think it’s because I came out of my pod upside down and, after experiencing a brief moment of free fall, landed somewhat impactfully on my head. Let’s be friends!” He will then, of course, attempt to convince the people of Maguuma that charr heads make great wall decorations, especially the heads of charr revenants named Rytlock.

I used to love this game but they continue to make choices and changes that go away from their original “foundations” and away from what made the original Guild Wars so much better than other MMOs out there.
If ArenaNet want’s to turn GW2 into just another grindy, gated MMO then I will be finding something else to play. Even if it’s only Black Desert Online, at least the character creation will keep me busy for a long time.

wat.
Legendary crafting is first on my list.

And that’s why I said “even if” it’s only BDO. I know what kind of game it is, but it’s character creation is on par with, or better than, Eve Online! I could literally get months of enjoyment out of creating amazing looking toons.
Look, I’m not trying to convert anyone here, I’m just giving my honest opinions. If you disagree, feel free to do so, but leave the unproductive sarcastic remarks elsewhere please.
Tier 1 (just unlocking the ability to do it) hang glider seems good just to be able to move around. Then not too sure, wonder if tier 1 of everything will be good to get around better as well.
Legendary. Seems like it is per character (probably with account bound results) so my alts can grind those out before getting rerolled leaving the most used mains to get higher tiers within useful tracks. The pre market is crashing hard right now lol.
Gunna wait and see when more info comes out, plans will probably change.
I’m all about that nun-chuck mastery, computer hacking mastery… chicks like guys with mastery
But no, i’m all about that lore and the gliding. Love me some jump puzzles.
