Hey, Guys. Just almost finished all the mastery points in Verdant Brink. Only 2 left.
I just want to know which mastery skills are required, so I can save the mastery points?
Right now my gliding skill is at level 3.
and I am heading to Auric Basin.

Thank you.

You need poison mastery to get at access to at least one Mastery point. Then of course wallows, bouncing mushrooms, unlocking access to vendors and stealth detection. Other than that, I found full gliding mastery unlocked to be the best return for the points.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

Max gliding asap. After that, get whatever you need for story and meta events / map completion (like Itzel Poison).

If you’re doing story you need to get gliding to at least updraft, mushroom jumping, exalted to the first one, but before you move on to tangled depths I highly recommend getting nuhoch wallows unlocked. It makes that zone much much easier.

Beyond that poison is good to unlock as well.

When you say you got all the mastery points are you including achievements and lock boxes?

If you plan on getting your specialization weapon unlocked (Dark Harvest, Wild Abandon etc) you also need exalted gathering (last one in Exalted Lore, what a waste to put it at the end imho) as well as the aforementioned Nuhoch Stealth Detection, Itzel Language and Stealth Gliding (which lies on the way to get max gliding, so it’s okay).

If you’re asking for what order to level them up, I’d say:

Gliding
Updraft
Bouncing mushroom
Nuhoch Wallows
Exalted Markings

Those will let you go basically everywhere. If you want to go EVERYWHERE you’ll need poison lore, max gliding, etc…

Just as quality of life you’ll want Advanced Gliding in general and if you play anything regarding Living World S3 you’ll want Ancient Magics Counter Magic.

I’ll add that if you ever want to make a HoT legendary you’ll need all the masteries maxed (not raids, don’t worry about those, and not Ancient Magics, that came out after the legendary recipes were made), as required components will not be sold by the HoT vendors until you’ve done that.

The masteries you HAVE to have to complete the campaign are: Gliding up to Updrafts, Itzel Lore up to Bouncing Mushrooms, Exalted Lore up to Exalted Markings, and Nuhoch Lore up to Nuhoch Wallows. All other masteries are unnecessary to finish the story, but are needed if you want to get map completion and other collection-related achievements.

Also, I want to point out that Nuhoch Lore doesn’t unlock until you enter Tangled Depths, so if you find you can’t do that yet, that’s why.

I’m new to the mastery system and venturing into HOT action, too, and this info is very helpful.

FWIW, there are enough mastery points to unlock most things pretty easily. I’d certainly advise Ley-Line Gliding as soon as practical, though, as in — once you can finish the HoT story, push to that one, then come back and fill out others.

(Uh, and ancient magics, should you unlock them. They are rather nice to have in this years living story.)
