Guild Wars 2

Since I got my email about the Beta, I have been debating which profession to use. I used the Revenant in the Stress Test, but I will be using one that I am more familiar with using. I just haven’t decided which one yet.

So which profession are you going to use? And if you have a specific reason, I would like to know that too.

Right now I am leaning toward a necro, a guardian or a mesmer. The necro and the guardian can be pretty tough, so they should be able to survive a bit better. The mesmer can be pretty effective depending on the build. I tend to lean toward a shatter build.

I considered trying a thief, but I haven’t played it enough lately to feel comfortable with it.

Assuming my invite comes through (still missing it despite having two portals in my bank and the two in-game mails that came with them still in my mailbox) I intend to use a mesmer. I’m avoiding revenant because I want to focus on testing the event cycle as requested, and I can better do that with a profession I play a lot. I’m more likely to notice oddities that way.

So I’m not going for something super effective in PvE (though mesmer really is, and has the advantage of being able to mix well between long range and melee), I’m going for something that won’t get in the way of my looking at what I’m testing.

Yes, I have, almost obsessively. No beta slot. I would consider that invite enough, the email is superfluous.

I’m going to give Revenant a shot, not just because it’s new, but as an Engineer/Elementalist player, I see the Revenant as the heavy-armor equivalent that could round out my collection of mains.

If i get it? The Revenant. Since the specs won’t be out [i think], there’s no real reason to try anything else and the dark design of the Revenant is great, i always love those “dark knights” types of classes.

Donari, I didn’t think I’d receive my beta slot either but it was all the way to the end of my character roster. Had to scroll through quite a few pages.

Oh, I’ve been scrolling. I did the stress test so I know where to look for it. I most definitely do not at this moment have either the email or the beta slot. I’m not tooooo worried, there’s still all day tomorrow for it to show up and I definitely have the portals. I even submitted a screenshot proving that in my ticket. Alas, my ticket response was basically “Yep, you’re subscribed to the newsletter, if you know someone who got their invite you should have yours a few hours later.” That was yesterday morning.

I’m glad some people will be testing Revenants along with the other things in the beta, since bugs with that profession certainly need to be found if they are to be corrected. I encourage those of you who do to take a few minutes at the start to choose traits beyond the default. In the stress test I nabbed the falling damage trait, since I always want one of those, and it turned out to have a pretty fun effect.

If against-all-odds, the company I work for happens to close for the day (or close early) due to some sort of emergency, reward, or something I might kitten about on Ranger for a bit. Otherwise, I’ll probably have about 1/2 to 1 hour of available play-time once I get back from work, and I’d rather spend that time preparing food and eating, so… nothing

probably ranger. I have almost no interest in revenant, and ranger is currently my favorite class, so 1 + 1 = i’m playing a ranger, yo

I’ll be playing the Necro cause of the whole reaper thing, I won’t be playing the revenant obviously in the hopes that its truly an incomplete product and that it will see a spec or well trait line that is effective for a power build.

I’ve no interest in actually testing anything, and I’m not going to do any of the content. Just gonna jump in, look at core specs for all classes, jump out. And if those aren’t there I won’t bother.

Gonna try the (hopefully complete) rev to see what weapons im comfortable with for the class and what stats i should prepare to have the class ready to roll out as soon as i got my copy of HoT…IF the rev is even my cup of tea. I for sure wont play a heavy that is as dull and boring as our current 2 specimen…so better test before i waste an insane amount of gold for stuff im not gonna need at the end.

Also i wanna see if there is the promised land of challenging content and if possible im gonna pick a charr and check out every single (new) armor skin i can find to see if the art department decided to give a kitten after 3 years about my favourite race or if only the revenant armor is charr friendly cause of the trailer and the rest is the usual level of “aint nobody got time for that”. So yea.. gonna need to use the two hours they give me wisely..

It does sound like people will be doing several types of professions. So that should be good.

Since my first character in GW and GW2 was a ranger, I really had thought about doing that for the beta. But I have been playing my necro, guardian and mesmer more often. So I’ll probably pick one of those because I am familiar with them right now.

But then I also thought about doing an engineer.

I guess I’ll figure it out tomorrow when I log in and start building.

anyhoot, regarding the thread topic:
d/d stealth thief assassin build. As in pretty much my daily thing. I expect most will be using rev, but I don’t have or want ascended armor crafting, so whatever. The class will prolly change by release, anyway.
