At around 0:45-0:48, one can see a character wearing light luminescent armor who emits a wave of light similar to the activation of Virtue of Courage or Selfless Daring. Few classes can apply aegis to themselves, and -as far as I know- the only class that has that “light wave” effect are guardians. So, unless there’s something I’m missing, this leads me to believe that it’s either a guardian wearing light armor (which seems improbable), or it’s an ele with a light-based attunement.

Thoughts?

Elementalist has a light wave type heal.
There was quite few players there.
Guardian could’ve used retreat that gives few people Aegis.

Also it could be visual from one of the new legendaries

The one with the holographic wings, I’m guessing? I’d say that’s a mesmer- she appears to be dual-wielding glowing swords (Chaos skins probably) which may be responsible for light effects, or it might be the armor, or a skill. Aegis could’ve come from a guardian nearby, or could be self-generated through the Signet that grants random boons.

Which one exactly? There’s a bunch of characters in those 3 seconds so I’m not sure which one you are talking about

The one on the left wearing the bright blue armor.

Elementalist has a light wave type heal.
There was quite few players there.
Guardian could’ve used retreat that gives few people Aegis.

Also it could be visual from one of the new legendaries

No elementalist healing ability releases a single light wave outwards. Their abilities create multiple light waves inwards while they have a channeling animation, but it doesn’t look like what was shown in the video.
As for new legendaries, she was using two chaos swords.

I’m 100% sure it didn’t come from the armor, and chaos weapons don’t release light waves like that (they just shimmer a bit).
It could be Mantra of Recovery now that you mention it, although if it really is a mesmer, then a blue-dressed character using two chaos weapons with aegis while releasing a wave of light (ie. using mantra of recovery for no reason outside of combat) is extremely misleading. It’s the most plausible explanation though, and is most likely the case. Oh well, back to waiting for ANet to reveal expansion info at a snail’s pace. At least I know guardians aren’t necessarily getting something boring like an off-hand sword. :>

Lol nobody seeing the new staff skill? If you watch it in slowmotion you’ll see the character with the hoodie and glowing eye’s perform a front flip with what looks to be a staff.

That was, in all likelihood, an Engineer carrying a Battle Standard and using Rocket Boots. Or it could just be a dodge-jump. Looks more like that now I’ve taken a minute to look at it.

Dodge Jump

Anyway, if the original player in question is the Luminescent Light Armor-wearer that appears near the lower-left of the screen, then it’s definitely a Mesmer dual-wielding Chaos Swords and using Power Return (Mantra of Recovery’s casted spell). The source of Aegis was most likely from Signet of Inspiration, since no other nearby players have the buff as well (which would indicate a Guardian using Retreat or Virtue of Courage). I slowed down and gif-ified the section for comparison.

As far as, “why is this character doing this thing?” Well, I use Runes of the Air on my Mesmer which gives Swiftness when I use a Heal skill. So… Mantra of Recovery and it’s charges all give Swiftness which helps remedy the profession’s poor out-of-combat speed.

I have to admit I can’t see this animation you’re talking about. But arcane brilliance is an elementalist healing ability which releases a single light wave outwards.
