We can buy chalk acid. We can buy machetes. We can buy exalted keys. But crowbars are right out. Why is this? Why can’t we buy crowbars? This makes no sense. Even in a story sense it makes no sense that crowbars can only be found lying around on the ground or in treasure chests magically delivered because you killed evil frogs or something. Please allow us to purchase crowbars like we purchase all other like items. And then allow them to put these things in our wallet. Don’t tell me it won’t fit. All that other stuff fits. Whats another crowbar or vial of chalk acid.

I have about 180 in my bank, this is after doing several supply drop runs, with no events. Why would you want to buy them?

There is also a merchant outside of the Vigil Keep that gives this weird token you can click on daily, and request 1 crowbar, or other assorted type ‘keys’ used in HoT.

because i do not have 180 in my bank. SURPRISE my play experience does not match yours. Will wonders ever cease.

Also I have that weird token. 1 per day doesn’t do it. Also that doesn’t answer my question

I believe originally the intent was to have all 3 maps function differently for their key/chest systems. VB had keys given from events, and chests throughout the whole zone. AB had keys bought, and chests after the meta. TD had keys bought, and chests throughout the whole zone, mostly. Now that’s a bit more normalized, though the best loot phases are still after each meta event, even if VB’s key earning ways are a leftover from the previous system.

Well, since ANET was SOOOOO generous in allowing us to obtain a permanent “airship cargo” container for our home base, I wonder why they are SOOOO stingy in providing us with the ability to open it!!! We can buy EVERY other “key” (almost— the tri-key is tough) so why not the crowbar?? Although, from what I’ve observed, the container is almost MORE valuable than the contents!!.

If you make any effort to do events in VB you will have plenty of crowbars. I actually tend to have the opposite problem. I have never managed to ‘run out’ of crowbars even though I go on chest runs to burn some of them off.

Maybe because crates are your primary means of getting the currency.

Check the ratio of crate to crowbar— it’s huge!! Unless you refuse to open crates, you can’t keep crowbars in inventory. And now, of course, you’re “stuck” with an “airship cargo” in your home space—-a crate that can’t be opened UNLESS you continue to repeat the VB events———————and how does that make any sense??

“How does that make any sense?” You mean how does it make sense that Anet would want you to play the content in order to get rewards from it? Because…that’s pretty much what you’re asking.

I ran around VB for 2 day/night cycles last week trying to burn up crowbars. I didn’t purposefully participate in any event I ran past but apparently killing 1 or 2 will give you full rewards. I opened every crate I found which was A LOT. I ended up with more crowbars than I started with. Seriously. No matter what I do I can’t diminish the amount I have and that’s running on an organized map with boatloads of crates to open (and doing my hardest to not participate!)

I know I shouldn’t complain but there’s something irritating about it…

I’m actually at a point now where I’m avoiding VB and just opening a home instance crate once a day to get rid of them. If I could give some of them away I would. I heartily agree with being able to put them in your wallet though, then it wouldn’t drive me so crazy.

I’m not sure why having so many is a problem. I mean you can destroy them.

As far as playing the content in order to get them — I’m really happy you have that much time on your hands but others don’t. And, like I said and others have pointed out, you can buy all the other keys. So that argument really doesn’t hold. I’m not sure why you have a problem with the ability to buy them — I mean if they would implement this its not like you would be forced to buy them.

I think buying them would definitely help those who run out of them.

I had hundreds. Then I did a few runs and now Im out most of the time.

Being able to buy them would really improve the quality of life of verdant brink.

What would you even buy them with? Airship cargo is the primary way to get the area resource. If you bought the crowbars with area resource then you’d just need a few initial crowbars and then you’d be set because your returns would enable you to continually buy more. That’s just poor design.

The current system works fine. Possibly better than the other map systems given how difficult it is to actually run out of crowbars.

I don’t think that’s accurate. I find when I’m running events in VB, just stopping to hit the airship cargo I find along the way isn’t enough to clear through my crowbars. It’s only when I ignore events that I start to burn through them.

Having said that, I don’t disagree with the request. The others can all be purchased. Why not these as well?

Because what would you purchase them with? Frogskins? Flax flowers? Dried beetle essence?

The OP claims that he/she doesn’t have enough time to do events in the area to get crowbars. But the currency of the area is airship parts, which you’d have to do the area’s events to get anyway. By which point you should have plenty of crowbars.

I agree crowbars should be available for airship parts though. I’m just not convinced it’ll solve the OP’s issue.

This. 100% this. OP claims they don’t have enough time to do any of the things in VB that would garner them the overabundance of crowbars that anyone who spends more then 15 minutes in VB inevitably gets.

OP then demands crowbars be purchasable just like the other “keys”. Other keys are purchasable from the zone specific currency. So crowbars would be purchasable from airship parts.

To get airship parts one would do some events in VB, which would then lead to the mentioned overabundance of crowbars that literally anyone who spends any amount of time in VB doing events inevitably gets anyway. Seriously, almost two full stacks that will never go down no matter how many chests I open.

I think to myself… one would pay real money for the loot you get from Airship Cargo? I’m not for or against, I have no need. But if PT Barnum or I mean Anet can find someone to buy Crowbars, they should sell them, all day and every night. (Not really)

I usually have way too many crowbars and not enough crates, in my experience. In fact, there’s a bunch scattered across all my characters that I don’t even know how many since you get them for breathing in VB.

Now, Chak Acid. That’s a bother. I generally am spending too much of all the currencies on things that I don’t have enough to spare buying keys.

You get excess amounts of pry bars. I regularly delete the ones over 250 stack.

To the OP: I know it seems hard at first, but if you participate in the zone events you will soon have more than you need. You will have so many, you will be able to bank them for your alts and it will never be an issue again. Just be patient and participate in the events. You will get at least one crowbar per event, frequently more.

I keep trying to get rid of them.

When in an event chain you don’t get more than are in the map. I usually do an event chain, and then run a handful of extra and Im out of crowbars again.

You just need to keep your eyes open, and possibly backtrack a bit to find them all, but it’s definitely not hard to run out. At least if you know where to find most of them.

I guess it’s a matter of taking your time to find them, but when I enter I generally have many lying around and I keep doing those as I progress towards any active event if there is any. It’s basically like gathering, times alot more. If you see it that way then 250 crowbars run out really quickly. I’m pretty sure there’s at least that many in verdant brink once all the events have been successfully done.

I don’t think I have ever been in Verdant Brink where I ran out of airship drops to open.

VB has by far the most events, ~7 per chain with 5 chains in the area (not counting nighttime), and with the new system you can get anywhere from 3 to 15 crowbars for each event. AB and TD have far less which is why you can buy the keys and chak acid.

It’s really no different than the chestruns in Silverwastes. I don’t see why this suddenly is a weird thing or completely silly.

Chestruns in SW are still really popular to this very day.

The issue is that the airship cargo is the primary means of getting currency for that map. Other maps you can get them from events directly (or from the event rewards).

If they allowed players to buy crowbars, Anet would either have to reduce the currency earned from airship cargo significantly or have a high price to purchase those crowbars. The issue is that the airship cargo award so much currency that you can essentially do an endless farm of them and still earn excess currency in the process.

The downside to this is that it takes people away from doing the events. You would have people farming the map for airship cargo across their alts. This is a little different than SW as there you got maybe 50% of the currency back so you eventually ran out before needing to do events again.

Thus there’s no downside if the price is set right. Just to clarify what you’re saying.

So long as the price is set high enough then I don’t see an issue. With how much currency that I have been getting though, it’d probably have to be between 30-50 per crowbar. Even then, I don’t see why it’s necessary when events reward so many crowbars now. Is there something that these airship crates drop that people need a lot of?

To be honest, I have no idea. xD Same with Bandit chests. There’s apparently a few unique exotics that drop from it, checking wiki.

I know I usually just run them until I’m out, otherwise they stack up, and it is annoying on alt characters.

I just think, that if it’s easy enough to change, then definitely might not be a bad idea. Other than that I think I pretty much agree that it’s not completely necessary. I just fail to see any downsides to it, if properly done. So why not if it’s easy enough to add.

That is not exclusive to airship cargo. The noxious pods in DS also have them.

I usually have at least a few crowbars on each character, so I never noticed this. But I did have a friend doing Verdant Brink and regaling me with comments about how he wasn’t getting any crowbars for doing events. We were both flabbergasted.

I don’t see a harm in adding it to the vendor stock, but I don’t see a big reason to rush it.

Night time VB uses the old system so he would only get them as the map progresses not for every event. Also you can’t just tag events and run off in HoT maps.

At the moment Airship oil is the only thing from VB that interests me – I have tons of tokens but can’t buy it…

They can just make the airship oil tradeable. Easier thing to do than to add crowbars as being able to be purchased I’m pretty sure.

If they allowed us to trade crowbars on the market, people like me who had too many and ddidn’t feel like running round VB anymore could sell them to people like you who had too few.

But no.

They would not be going for much over vendor price and they would also have go give these a vendor price if they can be sold on the TP. That in turn would force them to re-evaluate how many crowbars events give out.

To answer the OP, because Half-Life 3 is not confirmed. But Morgan Freeman already bought all the crowbars in preparation.
