So Anet can milk us like cows. Its quite obvious. The only way to get character slots is the gem shop and if every current player were to buy the expansion, roughly 1.2mil players lets say, and only 500k buy character slots than that 5 mil Anet is making on top of the expansion. Now lets say half of those 500k players actually use rl money thats 2.5 mil but where do the gems that the people get using gold come from? The people supplying the gems with rl money. So at the end of the say Anet is going to make millions off character slots alone…

But how many millions are they losing on players who won’t buy the expansion at all now? How many millions are they losing on gems sales from gem spenders who object to anet milking us for what in the past would have been included?

I can’t know what they are thinking since they didn’t say anything yet. But you should ask the question how many people will buy it in the end anyway.

People said wow is gonna kill gw2, Arche age is gonna kill it, eso is gonna kill it.
But in the end… Do you know any better mmo than gw2?
I don’t know what their strategy is (also think about the fact that the publisher NC soft takes care of money, not anet) but they have one of the very best mmo’s right now so they may just rely on the fact that people will buy it anyway since there is no better option.

Thats a risky bet right there. Gw2 is a great MMO but any great MMO can kill itself. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

It’s a cash milking move. Same when Anet wanted to charge 300 gold for a commander color (lol!) or make it so you could only buy a preset amount of gems on the store.

We will never know. More importantly, so what? You don’t need a character slot to play the expansion. And you got 5 with the base game anyway. Go nuts.

I use to blame myself every time Anet would fart too!

Making a new class while purposely not adding new extra slot on kitten exp is quite a d—k move. It’s yelling: buy my gems. It’s amazing there’s alot of company’s pets out there fervently defending Anet’s move for no good reason (i.e. “how dare you demand from ANET a character slot for me/us” .

They tried to be sneaky about it too but its so kitten obvious. Also, saying we get the core game for free is just a marketing ploy. They are charging us at least $10 to re-buy the core game…It cant get any worse.
