I just remembered when I did the jumping puzzle in Silverwastes (Skritt) and when you reach the mountain parts. I notice a slight lag as you can see the current battles below.

Then I remembered what you’ve said about HoT that you’ll be able to reach the top and see everything that is going on below. Also HoT being the biggest vertical space you’ve done and having a trillion layers below. Not to mention hang gliding.

So simple question(s), will I have to buy a fire extinguisher once I purchase the expansion?
If my current PC can handle GW2 right now, will it survive the expansion?
If it’s too early to tell and still many optimizations left, then what’s the end goal for the expansion? To run at the same minimum specs as GW2 requires right now?

My guess is that they’ll probably do a bit of work to allow the current specs to still handle it well. My laptop is, for all intents and purposes, “okay” by today’s standards. I can play semi-current single player games like Tomb Raider, Far Cry 3 and Skyrim on almost max, and most MMOs (GW2 included) on almost low, and that’s expected given the amount of stuff going on at once. And I fully expect my laptop to be able to handle HoT at launch with no issues, using the same graphics settings I use now.

However there’s no telling until it’s released. I don’t get much lag at all during the SW JP, but that’s just me adjusting settings when I do the puzzle itself.

Probably not, but if possible you could loweryour LOD Distance, make sure your Effect LOD is set correctly, as well as lower Shadows and Shaders. If all of those are as low as possible and you still have trouble now.. the best I could do is suggest trying it out, and if you have trouble in HoT just.. I don’t know, wait for the initial burst of people to move on before climbing to the highest places? :x

I’m not a huge computer-nerd like my boyfriend so I can only mention things that helped me when I played on my old laptop in the past.

Also remember that maps are hard-capped at 150 players, so if there were a lot of people battling below you in the Silverwastes, you might still only get the slight lag you experienced.
