The quest for salvaging (at least for ecto) extra ascended gear with bad stats has been going on since fractal rings came to be. But now we are getting ascended rings/accessories EVEN from doing story achievements (and dungeoneer). So if I never do a day of fractals I will still have a lot of extra ascended with less then favorable stats I can do nothing with.
My question is can we PLEASE get some input from the devs that they at least read this. I don’t care if the reply is simply “I can’t say anything but the problem is noted”. In the many many posts about extra ascended I have still yet to see any comment from the devs. I would GREATLY appreciate any kind of response no matter how small.

+1, we definitely need to be able to Salvage, and Mystic Toilet, all those useless ascended rings.

I would rather be able to use Mystic Toliet to give my ascended gear a drop down function to change stats.

Another alternative would be to simply stop dropping gear with pre-chosen stats. Simply allow us to choose the stats we want. Or even better… allow all ascended gear to choose stats at will like legendary gear does. Legendary is still better for the unique graphics and fx.

The word you’re looking for isn’t ‘useless’ – its ‘valueless’. They are worth 5 silver.

But lets be honest, 5 silver is more of a slap to the face then not being able to sell them at all.

Lets be honest – they drop like rain and are never going to carry much more value than they have now because of it.

Yet rares and exotics drop just as much if not a lot more and are currently worth at a minimum 5x that of ascended. Even outside of fractals many of them are either a lot of laurels or 1000 bandit crests and 10 gold. Maybe its just me but I think a resell value of 4-6 silver on something that costs a bunch of time and 10 gold to get is a little off. But I’m not really wanting to argue this point further, I mostly would just like to hear some input from the devs, even if its simply they know about the concern and cannot comment past that.

I dispute your proposition. In my experience pink rings drop FAR more often than exotics.

But I guess the people who can actually query the database are the only ones who know for sure and we see their answer in game, every day.

I haven’t really thought about the comparison before. I would be very interested to see where the ascended rings would land on the open market. I seem to get exotic items a fair amount while running around. I’d say I get one every other time I log in. I get an ascended ring that often as well but I always run through a level 40+ fractal when I log.

I think it would be funny if they had a mawdry type fractal item that gave you a gift of the mists. Although those gifts from mawdry 2 and star thing are subject to terrible loot tables.

I really be happy if they give you a chance at some ascended mats. Like an ingot or dark matter or something.

That would be really cool, a back item that eats an ascended a day. I wonder what skin it would have. .. hm. Very interesting thought! I like it.

They really do need to do something about this. My bank is and several characters are accumulating ascended armor and weapon chests that I have no use for due to terrible stats and repeated armor chests for the same two armor slots…shoulders and gloves. They need to leave the stats open to select what we want and the armor chests open to select the armor slot and stats that we want. Its not like they don’t already have the in game tech to do this…I can’t think of a good reason as to why they are leaving it like this. This isn’t even a new argument.

Being able to argue it or not the main concern to me is that the devs seem to not be willing to make any kind of response whatsoever. Any post I’ve read concerning this is simply ignored instead of the idea being nicely declined. I really hope it can change and forums actually can do something (or at least get some kind of response even if its not what I’m hoping for). Well I can always hope the expansion finally brings a change.

i hope so. let them count as exotics when salvaging, even if they don’t drop insignias (though that would be sweet). i’m slowly but surely stacking my inventory with random ascended accessories that drop from fractals, WvW rank chests, and LS episode achievements.
